AEWHistory -> Taking Netherlands as CP? Recovering PPs? (4/30/2015 5:54:57 AM)

So has anyone tried taking the Dutch as the Central powers? They seem like a juicy target for some extra PPs. However, I can't help but wonder of opening up the additional coastline to defend is worth the PPs. Then there is the coat of finding the necessary men to conduct this attack..... it is t as if the CP are flush with excess, so this is a high risk manuever.

This brings me to my second question: how does one figure the rate at which cities regain lost PPs? If a city with 9 PPs is captured, will it ever return to full capacity? I have played a lot of games into 1915, but only a handful past that,so my experience is limited. Also, it seems as if which cities regain PPs and as why speed they regain their PPs is awfully random. I. Wondering if there is another game mechanism that I'm not awre of.

Thanks!

Captured cities will produce up to half of it's original PP. In odd numbered PP cities such as Brussels (9), it might generate up to 5 PP for CP. If the city was contested it takes longer to produce PP for the captors, especially where it had been shelled by artillery, at least that has been my experience. Uncontested or abandoned cities take much less time to produce PP. Have not checked the manual lately, however the manual I think covers captured cities. Kirk wrote about this in a prior thread, in more detail about a year ago.

Sorry for the slow reply. It's the end of the semester and I've been bogged down. Thanks for the info. I'm wondering has anyone tried taking the Netherlands? It seems an easy target, but it is awfully difficult for the Germans to find 4-6 corps available plus, supporting units, most of the time. OTOH, the CPs being stretched is what make the Netherlands so attractive. A quick campaign could yield something like 7 PPs going forward (possibly) when the Dutch production recovers. That's really useful and badly needed resources.

Wish I could play the entente and see how other peeps play the central powers.... Owell.

Being that you want to use everything available to push France back, then hitting the dutch would probably be bad.
Only consider it if you can't take the Belgium fortress buy the coast.

You would get another port to repair u-boats, so if you are going big in the navy it could be helpful there.
