RobotCriminal -> RE: Torpedo won't fire (5/7/2015 5:57:57 PM)

There is a setting in the side doctrine to allow kinematic torpedo launches, I pretty much always set it to "Manual only" when using something with really long legs like an ADCAP against a closing target. My personal method is to fire, select the torpedo and set it to cruise, then quickly turn off the manual over-ride. Torp will then cruise out and kick it up to full once its seeker is locked on which is very handy (sometimes this happens automatically, I think its range dependent). You need to play around a bit to get a "feel" for what ranges are possible, the biggest 2 factors are intercept geometry and how quickly you think that the victim is going to realize there is a torp in the water headed his way. IE a head on closing shot against a fast moving (deaf) surface ship with mediocre sonar can be taken at much longer distance than a rear aspect shot against a creeping SSN. Hope this helps. [;)]
