Hello, I had to a fresh install of Windows vista and when I try to install Command again I get these errors [image]local://upfiles/6080/CBC233E3DF354E8DBE9E30946B9585F5.jpg[/image] The next error message is in my next post.

I have downloaded the latest directX. My system is PC is an Intel core2 quad cpu c6600 2.4Ghz 6GB ram 64 bit operating system with Vista home premium service pack 2. Any suggestions on how to proceed? [image]local://upfiles/6080/D85ADEEBD36B4663A6C44482D934A26A.jpg[/image]

Have you tried installing command again? It installs the third party components (like dx9 and .net) - these are also located in the 'prerequisites' directory in Commnand's game directory.

Yes, I just now tried that and it still happend. Funny thing is that it was working before, I just had to download the x86 file to fix the Lua problem when I first installed the game so I thought it might be that problem again. I downloaded the x86 file again but the game doesn't work. Not too sure what to try next.

Try installing the directx that came with the game. You can't just download any version of it.

Hi Willy If you installed at default locations your direct file should be here: C:\Matrix Games\Command Wargame of the Year Edition\PreRequisites\directx_mar2009_redist Run the dxsetup.exe file. Likewise your .nets are here C:\Matrix Games\Command Wargame of the Year Edition\PreRequisites It sounds like the dx is the issue. Please run it. M

There are three things that should install when you reinstall... C++ distributed libraries DirectX9 .net framework You need to install three, even if you think you have a version on your machine. Also, pay attention. If you don't work through the prompts, the installs might just abort without telling you and Command will just crash on start.

Well when you didn't know what .net was, I was a little concerned. You also mentioned you downloaded directx from someplace...also a little concerned.

Have you hit the update button and received all updates? Please do that and then post a screenshot again of any errors. Thanks! Mike

Most of those messages tell me you don't have C++ libraries and Directx installed correctly.

Tried again installing and no luck. I've been installing from the DVD, I wonder if it's worth trying to re-download and install it instead?

Make sure to sit and watch all the Directx and .net stuff install. They have messages that if you don't respond, back the install out.

just a wild ass guess, but have you rebooted your computer at all? Maybe the .dll isn't releasing and that may do it.

I just installed it on my wife's laptop and it worked ok. I'll uninstall and reinstall again on the desktop to give it another try.

Hey man, just a thought, something you said made me think of something - even if you think you have up-to-date software (referring to the directX, .NET framework, C++ etc.) do a "repair" install anyway, if it comes up and says something like "uninstall or repair?". I'm sure I always have up-to-date software, but doing this has solved similar problems in other games many times. Ignore this if you've tried it already, I'm sure you have wracked your brains, I know I would have! Good Luck
