It is only with hindsight that I realized the problems with such deployment. And 250k to Japan is like another 75 oil production site for an entire year. That assumes it could be used or hauled back of course.

I guess he could set up a convoy system to Hawaii which would be what, a two week turnaround for fast tankers? So say 2 TFs of 10 x 12k capacity, 18knot TK/AO (if he has that many available). It's 61 hexes to PH. So at 240k per month he'd need four months to get it out. Or a LOT of tankers. Losses from sub activity would also make a dent, but still, it's a good opportunity for Japan here.
