CarnageINC -> Couple of question before I buy. (6/5/2015 5:20:10 AM)

Big fan of the original FPG. I looked back through the last 3 pages or so and didn't see these questions asked.

I believe I will buy this title regardless, but I would like to know how the PBEM system works. Is it easy to use and understand, I believe it must be since no one is asking about it. Is it a single file you email back and forth or is via a server?

It looks like the PBEM community is active so how easy is it to find a partner and how long are the scenarios in general?

Finally, and good mods that I should know about out the gate?

Thanks to all who give me some assistance [;)]

You can use both classic PBEM with sending the file to the OP or by using the PBEM server ,both are easy to use

I don't often PBEM but from what I've seen in the PBEM forum once you request a OP its not long before one or more take you up on offers

I like and use HeinzBaby custom mapmarkers but there are plenty of good mods out there or on the OTS server

Scenarios range from small to large. The campaigns are single player only.

Good Hunting.

I am playing a classic PBEM game right now and it works very well. No problems what so ever...........except I am losing........badly....[sm=scared0008.gif]

It is a very good game. One of only a few that really expresses drama and tension and the edgy feeling of ........ what will happen next?

Hello: [8D]

I play H2H (Against human opponents) all most exclusively of the AI... and it's great fun! [:)]

I've found "classic" PBeM (attach turns to emails) to be my preferred method.

There is a check box titled "Start a Play by Email (Classic PBEM) Game in the game's start menu. Simply click the box, select a scenario to play, plot out your moves and end your turn. The game will prompt you to save the file. Be sure to check the incremental file name check box (so the system will name each subsequent game file with an incremental number (e.g. Turn 001, 002, 003, etc.). Than simply attach the file to an email and send to your opponent. Your opponent downloads the game file and places it in the Saved folder. Than your opponent selects Classic PBEM from the Resume Existing menu, selects the correct file and loads it into the game. Your opponent watches the replay and than conducts his turn. He saves the game file, attaches the file to an email and sends it back to you. Repeat the process until the game ends.

Once you complete a few game turn exchanges, it becomes easy and intuitive to conduct "classic" PBeM. [;)]

Your saved game files are stored in a folder named Saved

Matrix Games > Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm > Modules > FPRS > Saved

Welcome aboard... and send me a PM if you are interested in starting a classic PBEM game! [8D]

Thank you gentlemen for your responses, it nice to know PBEM is flexible. Thanks Kool Kat for the pbem description process. I think this is definitely on top of my list for purchase. [:)]
