Looks like the Allies were a little more successful in the air this turn (turn 7 - no really it is turn 7 this time).

But still not near the levels needed to prevent German reinforcements from streaming toward the beaches. (I'm purposely keeping my screen shots tight on the beaches so as not to give "free recon" to Scott).

Americans are massing in front of Cherbourg, but for now, the defense is in pretty good shape. Should they take Cherbourg, I still may have enough to make a defensive line across the peninsula that will keep him bottled up there. Right now he has a severe problem in that he has no space to bring ashore follow on forces.

Here is the interdiction plot without any units showing:

Updated to 1.01.01 and the issued Torch to Tunisia pack. Everything looks great. I enjoyed play testing.

I've upgraded to the latest rev .... to busy reading about air directives and what not to add Torch yet .....[;)]

Threw the weight of the Allied air forces at you ... like throwing mud against a wall ......[8|]

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/11/2015 8:11:07 PM)

Looks like the Allies got a little better interdiction. But what they really need is breathing room. They are maxed out stacking on the beach hexes making it tough to break through anywhere. As the Germans, I'm liking this so far. First pic is of the interdiction values, then the situation in Normandy, and finally the Italian Front where the Allies have made a few attacks on the eastern end of the line, but not much to report there.

This looks pretty bad my friend

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/12/2015 1:02:37 AM)

Situation end of July - The American's in the Normandy beach head are still massed near Cherbourg, however, Cherbourg so far is not under serious threat. The British corps are confined to the beaches and have only advanced to Carentan and Bayeux. The British 6th Abn had originally dropped near Caen and taken it but German counterattacks retook Caen and have held it since.

German front line units are somewhat low on supplies but overall strength is still good, making successful attacks by the Allies difficult.

Summary? German forces so far while not preventing the invasion, have prevented the Allies from advancing out of their initial landing areas and have fairly strong reserves in the area to counter any Allied moves or potential breakthroughs.

It appears that while we don't have the strength to throw them back into the channel, they don't have the strength to force their way off the beaches yet. It's been seven weeks.

So far anyway.

No pictures this time. They didn't change from last turn. VP are a little over -200 right now.

Seminole -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/12/2015 2:02:31 AM)

Are the Allies working over the German controlled railyards (do these start damaged in the '44 scenario?)?
Or are your supply issues purely from the interdiction near the front?

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/12/2015 3:12:51 PM)

I'll need to dig into that next turn. Seems like my supplies just began to be affected this turn, where before I had plenty. I'll report back next time. I've mostly been examining what's been happening right near the front lines.

scout1 -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/14/2015 12:00:35 AM)

Allied airpower still seems misguided ...... Germans dug in deeper than an Alabama tick

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/14/2015 1:26:28 AM)

A couple of Allied attacks in Normandy. Futile :-) It's now August 1st. 10 weeks into the campaign and the Allies have not been able to advance off their initial beach heads. (there is no EF box in this so I'm doing this with the historical TOE - with some help from Scott - lack of air power dominance and the failed Abn landings have helped me tremendously so far.)

Interdiction values don't seem awful for me. A few of my frontline units are a bit low on supplies, but most are fine. Cherbourg is strong and holding.

Forgot to check the rail yard damage. Next time.

Interdiction:

The Normandy beach head situation: (very little change)

Is there a generic issue with the map floating about ..... ?

Tried to run my turn and the map was merely black hexes ..... re-started 3x times and got exactly the same result ....

thats odd

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/15/2015 10:20:56 PM)

Well, as my favorite mechanic used to say way back when I owned a Triumph:

"Hmm, I've never seen one do THAT before"

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/15/2015 10:21:49 PM)

Are you running the Beta or regular?

scout1 -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/15/2015 10:57:06 PM)

regular ... last turn ran fine .... other than I'm getting my arss handed to me ....

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/16/2015 12:36:14 AM)

we try, we try :-) Quite the traffic jam out at sea there. (hehe)

LiquidSky -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/16/2015 4:33:46 AM)

The black screen is from one of you using a different version then the other.

When it happened to me it was because my opponent was using 1.02 and I was using 1.01.

carlkay58 -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/16/2015 12:51:33 PM)

Yes, this is a version mis-match. If you are running a version greater than 1.01 (such as the public release version 1.01.01 or the beta versions 1.01.02 or 1.01.03) then you must be on the same version for the game map to show.

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/16/2015 4:00:49 PM)

Maybe I accidentally ran the 1.01.02 version when I ran my turn. I have a separate installation of the Beta so that my 1.01.01 stays "clean". The shortcuts look alike though and I may have run the beta accidentally.

Carl - if Scott switches to run 1.01.02 and we stay that way will that clear it up?

1.01.03

carlkay58 -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/16/2015 5:15:33 PM)

Yes both of you will have to update to 1.01.03 to keep it clean and up to date.

ultradave -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/16/2015 7:38:14 PM)

Ok, I updated my Beta to 1.01.03. We can go from there.

scout1 -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/16/2015 8:47:04 PM)

where to grab 1.01.03 ?

scout1 -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/16/2015 8:50:38 PM)

you're trying to escape my wrath with this ploy me thinks ..... ;>

scout1 -> RE: Scout's Revenge (scout1 v ultradave, part deux) - Scott okay to participate (10/17/2015 8:41:54 PM)

upgraded to .04 ......

Allied Airpower starting to show its weight ..... Captured 2x hexes ... woohoo ..... one of which was Cherbourg ....
