Situation end of July - The American's in the Normandy beach head are still massed near Cherbourg, however, Cherbourg so far is not under serious threat. The British corps are confined to the beaches and have only advanced to Carentan and Bayeux. The British 6th Abn had originally dropped near Caen and taken it but German counterattacks retook Caen and have held it since. German front line units are somewhat low on supplies but overall strength is still good, making successful attacks by the Allies difficult. Summary? German forces so far while not preventing the invasion, have prevented the Allies from advancing out of their initial landing areas and have fairly strong reserves in the area to counter any Allied moves or potential breakthroughs. It appears that while we don't have the strength to throw them back into the channel, they don't have the strength to force their way off the beaches yet. It's been seven weeks. So far anyway. No pictures this time. They didn't change from last turn. VP are a little over -200 right now.
