Assuming you have already discovered it how do you locate a system/planet/asteroid etc at a later date?

Bingeling -> RE: Finding a location (11/4/2015 6:20:07 AM)

Why would you want to find it?

- Because it is a scenic or research location? You have the filters/tools on the left of the screen and above the minimap.

- Because it is a very good mining location? It should show up in the expansion planner if you filter by galaxy needs to avoid anything from being hidden.

- Because it has an uncommon resource that you need? Again expansion planner, or the galaxy map where you can filter for specific resources and they show up as yellow dots that you can click to get some more info.

- Or because you saw a reference to the name? That one is tricky. The best bet is the expansion planner, galaxy need, no filter, sort by name. If it is not unavailable it could show up. Or sort your ships list by system name if you know that one. If it is a somewhat nearby colony system there is some chance that your empire got a freighter visiting.

I want to attack pirate mine such as JX7468. I can send a spy but not a ship as I cannot find it.

Bingeling -> RE: Finding a location (11/4/2015 7:37:00 AM)

If it is not "spotted" you can not see it, you will have to find JX7468. Which is not well supported as I hinted to above.

If it is "spotted" it is probably in the target list accessible in the left side menu. In that case it should also be visible on the map, but it could be quite far away.

I suspect that you can in some cases send spies to locations that you can't actually see, or that your map has no known structures in.

With some investment, you could steal the operations map of the pirates, that should make all their stuff visible for a few seconds. During wars, I have been known to take note of systems with mines when this happens :)

While by no means 100% the locations like that tend to group, so if you find JX1111, then JX1234 would often be close...

Easier by far is building a fleet of little boats, just a Scout with Long Rang Scanners, drop then around a suspect area and watch as the the ships guide you right back to their home station

I am only talking about spotted locations here. Target button seems to only apply to those you are current at war with. A game of this magnitude should have some means of jumping too any 'spotted' location and I find it unsatisfactory at best that you cannot. I would have thought it would be simple to achieve.

Twigster -> Seriously? (11/9/2015 5:17:46 PM)

I am not understanding the problem here. I have no difficulty finding any observed location of significance or interest in a timely manner in this game.

The game is missing the ultimate search button.

I believe pirate targets should show up in the target list but I am not sure. When I play, I tend to keep an eye out or pirate colors all the time, and hunt them aggressively when spotted.
