"Rebellion Publisher Weekend" Sale discounts range from 50% to 80%! [:)] Sale ends January 18th. There are 33 different games and DLC on sale, bundles and individual games on sale...there are some terrific games to check out! Have fun!

Ground Control series is quite decent RTS. First game in particular puts RTS tactical skills and micromanagement to test becouse reinforcements are not available for the scenarios. I've played Lords of the Realm 3 and it feels inferior to Total War series.

"Among the Sleep" is on sale at 60% off! [:)] Sale ends January 17. I was a little reluctant to list this, it's pretty short but they did add a free DLC containing a new chapter. It's a pretty unique Adventure-Horror game...from the devs "Among the Sleep is a first person horror adventure, in which you play a two year old child. After being awoken abruptly by some strange force you explore the eerie house while looking for comfort." Worth a look...

"Company of Heroes 2 - The British Forces" is on sale at 75% off! [:)] Sale ends January 18th. This standalone WWII multiplayer looks terrific with new units, community created maps on Steam workshop! This game was released on September 15th but not alot of game play on Steam. I've noticed that war games on Steam are not as popular as some other genres...they don't what they are missing! From the devs "This latest multiplayer standalone entry in the COH2 series features this iconic Allied army. Experience a unique tech-tree that challenges the player to balance the constant trade-off between mobility and defense. Surprise opponents with your development choices and an open end game configuration." If you like multiplayer British action, check it out!

That's why they call it a niche. Wargames have never been popular on the PC. That's why there are few publishers. Just think if it wasn't for Matrixgames and Slitherine there wouldn't be very many wargames out there at all. Well, if you don't consider rts games wargames like me that is. [:D]

wings7 -> RE: Steam sale thread (1/17/2016 11:53:30 PM)

"The Wolf Among Us" is on sale at 75% off! [:)] Sale ends January 19th! This is one of the best Adventure games out today! With Detective,Noir,Mature elements and much more...from the devs "From the makers of the 2012 Game of the Year: The Walking Dead, comes a gritty, violent and mature thriller based on the award-winning Fables comic books (DC Comics/Vertigo). As Bigby Wolf - THE big bad wolf - you will discover that a brutal, bloody murder is just a taste of things to come in a game series where your every decision can have enormous consequences." Holy Frak! One of my favourite first-person shooter franchises is on sale with massive -75% off! Chrome and Chrome: SpecForce bundle for 1,99 € up until 25th of this month! If you have any love for FPS games like FarCry and Crysis, you'd better not miss these ones!

One thing I forgot to tell about it on FPS thread: even puny pistol is necessary weapon, becouse inventory space is very limited, sniper rifle takes large part of it, and damn thing isn't as good indoors.

"Tabletop Simulator" is on sale at 50% off! [:)] Sale ends January 20th. Not the biggest discount but this sandbox game has so much to give, even for $10! From the devs "Tabletop Simulator is the only simulator where you can let your aggression out by flipping the table! There are no rules to follow: just you, a physics sandbox, and your friends. Make your own games and play how YOU want! Unlimited gaming possibilities!" If you are the creative type you really should check this out!

Thanks wings for placing these posts on the site. I like looking at them and even though I am not buying right now - sort of in a "Gaming funk"

For some reason I rather just read about the games than play them, weird - I bought DC3 and rarely play it - it's like "wargame burnout"

Are you in your late 40's or 50 and above? I've had burnout for years now and not seeing gaming as I used to. My significant other says I'm growing up finally but I don't want to believe that (haha)

I think it is because the computer has taken over too much of the game experience. Die rolling, movement, doing everything but the strategy part (even command ops and norbsoft games will play themselves if you don't put any input in now). All I really seem to be doing is pressing the left and every once in awhile the right mouse button and rolling a mouse wheel.

I'm questioning what's fun about the games anymore. Why do I sit and watch a machine roll the die for me, move my pieces and make bad mistakes. Sometimes strategy just isn't enough. I miss the physical parts of the game. The rules lawyering [:D], the die rolling (especially the die rolling), the arguments about the rules, the cat accidents. [:'(] the setting up of the board itself. I love the smell of new cardboard in the mornings. ahhhhhh

Thing is I was glad when computers came along to take me away from all that. I didn't know the consequences of it then. Took 30 something years to find out though [X(]

Have all the good new designs been made? Just can't seem to find anything that really entices me to a gotta have it feeling anymore. I'd rather watch old documentaries on YouTube about the Roman and Greek eras and WWII and Civil war stuff now. Every once in awhile will look at some Napoleon ones or movies.

You're welcome, I enjoy doing it. Nothing weird about "reading about games", it's a great way to learn about the game and games you never heard of. [:)]

"DuckTales: Remastered" is on sale at 67% off! [:)] Sale ends January 22nd. I can see the eyes rolling now but this really is a masterful Platforming Adventure game. From the devs, "DuckTales: Remastered is a beautiful hand-crafted reimagining of one of the most cherished 8-bit titles of all time. Go back to one of the golden ages of gaming, now refined with a level of detail that will please the most hardened devoted Disney or retro Capcom fan alike. Featuring hand-drawn animated sprites, authentic Disney character voices talent and richly painted level backgrounds from the classic cartoon TV series, Scrooge McDuck and family come to life like never before. The gameplay retains the authenticity of its 8-bit predecessor; simple and fun, with slight modifications to improve gameplay flow and design. Embark on an authentic DuckTales adventure, as Scrooge McDuck and his three nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie travel to exotic locations throughout the world in their quest to retrieve the five Legendary Treasures." I suppose you would have to be older to really appreciate it...check it out!

Sorcerer King is $11 on Steam, and I think it is probably worth it.

Better read the reviews and some of the user comments on Sorcerer King both on Steam and Metacritic.

"Natural Selection 2" is on sale at 50% off! [:)] The Deluxe, Mega Pack and Deluxe Edition Upgrade are also on sale at 50% off! Sale ends January 24th. It's a Strategy-Multiplayer-FPS-Sci-fi game, not really my cup of tea but it has many players who like it! From the devs, "Natural Selection 2 pits alien against human in an action-packed struggle for survival. Wield devastating weaponry as a Frontiesman marine, or become the xenomorph as a deadly. Kharaa life-form. While both teams fight each other in first person, two commanders look down on the battlefield in a top-down Real Time Strategy view. These Commanders can issue orders, build structures, collect resources, research technology, and deploy abilities to help their team overcome the enemy." Check it out!

"MASSIVE CHALICE" is on sale at 80% off! [:)] Sale ends January 25th. This is a Tactical-Strategy-Fantasy game with a very interesting "Bloodline Relic" feature. From the devs, "MASSIVE CHALICE is a tactical strategy game set on an epic timeline from Double Fine Productions. As the Immortal Ruler of the nation, you'll take command of its heroes, forge heroic marriages to strengthen your Bloodlines, and battle a mysterious enemy known as the Cadence in a 300 year war." "Windward" is on sale at 67% off! [:)] Sale ends January 26th. This is a wonderful Pirate-Adventure-Open World-RPG game. I'll let the devs describe it, "Designed from the start to be a fully procedural co-op game, Windward can be played by yourself, but it truly comes alive when playing with friends. Start by generating a procedural world that will be unique to you, design your own custom faction then sail forward fighting pirates, trading with towns, doing quests or simply exploring -- it's up to you how you want to play.
As you sail about you will find resources you can make use of, upgrades for your ship, new towns that will ask your assistance, and as you get farther out from the starting area -- various pirates that will attempt to take what's rightfully yours. Combat experience will let you unlock new talents and abilities to make that particular line of work easier." If this is your cup of tea, don't miss it!
