Tamas -> A quick update on the game's status (1/20/2016 10:01:36 AM)

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know what might be obvious already, that originally we underestimated the time required to get TOAWIV to the level we envisioned for it.

Rather than cut back on our plans, we have decided to expand the development time. I can't give you dates yet, but I wanted to assure you that our plans with the game are as serious as ever, and development has been going on, even if not at the pace we originally planned with.

To avoid confusing people,, I will move this forum back to the "in development" section, but as I said, not be troubled. :) The future IS bright for TOAW, but it will take a steady advance to get there, instead of a quick overrun we hoped for. :)

Karri -> RE: A quick update on the game's status (1/20/2016 11:46:45 AM)

Olorin -> RE: A quick update on the game's status (1/20/2016 12:04:16 PM)

Good news, keep up the good work people. It will be done when it's done. In the meantime, TOAWIII is still the best wargame out there.

Lobster -> RE: A quick update on the game's status (1/20/2016 1:58:31 PM)

You could at least put a single screenshot, not even 2, just 1, instead of hiding it..

Take all the time you need. TOAW has always been the best turn-based operational level game on the market. Period. Looking forward to a IV version.

There are five years this far. You are ok with five with that? So ten years is ok for you? Do you ask why get frustrated with this? Forums are empty. Few go there. This is because of five years this far. Yes take all the time you need as you say. So that is how it happens. More time. More time. More time. To much already.

I don't know about the rest of the team but Thomas Harvey and I have been working around the clock. He's a wargammer machine.

While this is generally true, communication also helps.

I haven't played any previous TOAW games, and I remember looking at this at the beginning of the year. I was unsure whether to wait or pay £23 for a 10 year old game. It looked like it was not far off, so I waited.

I checked back every so often to see if there's any update, but I'm visiting less often as time goes by. Sooner or later, I'll probably stop. I wonder how many other people are in a similar position.

Maybe I would have been better of buying the old version.
Maybe that's still the best idea.
But maybe the new one's just around the corner....

The game may be old but it's very good. You'll be stunned at how many scenarios there are.

I just recently bought the current TOAW game and so far am liking quite a bit.

To me, the counters and maps look really good, the game has good depth and it's cool to go from 1913 Balkan Wars to Nato vs. Warsaw Pact without starting another program.

No issues with Alt tab / modern functions on Windows 8.

I would recommend it.

Lobster -> RE: A quick update on the game's status (3/19/2016 1:06:24 PM)

Yes this is a very good game. I've had it on my hd since the first iteration came out. There are now a huge number of scenarios and it gets better each time it is revamped. But what really makes this game shine is the fan base. Matrix does little in the way of support. The fan base provides excellent support and is a treasure trove of information and help. They are the one's that make this thing tick and keep it alive.

fogger -> RE: A quick update on the game's status (3/20/2016 3:10:17 AM)

TOAW 3 is very good but TOAW 4 is even better. Because of the NDA I can say too much. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is clearly not the oncoming train. (But I do not know how long the tunnel is)

TOAW IV? Any screenshot can confirm this? [;)]
