Turn 23. May/June 1943. Axis #1. Italy, Germany. Italy.

While having the axis getting to more two fine weather impulse in a row isn't a disaster for the Western Allies, it's certainly a pain in the butt. The Western Allies now find themselves in a war of attrition with the Euro-Axis for Italy.

Courtenay -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/19/2016 4:11:56 AM)

If I were the Chinese, I would run on the southern front. I would run back to the mountains behind Kweiyang. The Chinese do not want to be defending undoubled.

Turn 23. May/June 1943. Allied #2. USA. Philippines.

Somebody who isn't laughing is General MacArthur. The odds that he can get with the troops he has are abysmal. He needs more troops, planes and ships.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/20/2016 12:34:54 AM)

Turn 23. May/June 1943. Allied #2. RN. East Med. Round 2.

However, round 2 is a victory for the allies. The battle ends and through no air units were shot down the RN accomplished their objective.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/20/2016 12:38:27 AM)

Turn 23. May/June 1943. Allied #2. Axis. Italian Coast.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/20/2016 12:40:34 AM)

Turn 23. May/June 1943. Allied #2. Western Allies. Italy.

The USA disembarks 5 corps from the Italian Coast into Italy and Sicily. However, with CW land units not available for combat since the CW took a naval, the USA is unable to get good enough odds anywhere against Italy to risk a land combat.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/20/2016 12:41:48 AM)

Turn 23. May/June 1943. Allied #2. USSR. Ground Strikes.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/20/2016 12:43:13 AM)

Turn 23. May/June 1943. Allied #2. USSR.

However the problem is with the coherency of the Soviet lines in the south, which are in shambles. The Soviets do what they can but things look bleak in the south.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/20/2016 12:44:42 AM)

Turn 23. May/June 1943. Allied #2. ChiComm. Land Combat.

The one bright spot for the allies this impulse was a successfully attack by Mao that shattered Terauchi and a 5-5 mot army.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/20/2016 12:46:35 AM)

Turn 23. May/June 1943. Allied #2. ChiComm.

A successful attack that, for now, has put all the Japanese armies in the North out of supply.

But, the real concern for the allies and, especially, the communist, is whit the Soviets on the Eastern Front, especially in southern Russia.

Turn 22. Mar/Apr 1943. Axis #3. Weather.

When all looks lost for the Soviet their most reliable weapon, the weather, rears its ugly head against the Germans units on the Eastern Front.

Centuur -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/21/2016 1:27:04 PM)

I think I would rail the factories out of Stalingrad and Saratov back into Siberia, just to be on the save side. That railroad is too close to the frontlines.

Why is that GAR still in Sevastopol? I think the commanding officer of that unit is due for a transfer to the "Shockarmies". Move it upnorth. It has no use in the current position at all...

You tend to make mistakes when you are rebasing the Soviet planes. You put them into cities on the frontlines and concentrate them after you've used them. That's a mistake when you are on the defense. It's better to have one FTR in a hex and to put them 2 hexes behind the frontlines if possible...

Thing is: large concentrations of disorganised planes are a very juicy target for Germany to attack. You are losing valuable planes and pilots this way...
