Graviteam Tactics: Mius Front is being released tomorrow. The learning curve is steep, the rewards are high.

I am as giddy as a school girl.

dang. those pics turned out large

ntrlpr -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/3/2016 11:55:59 PM)

I've never played Operation Star, but these screens have me drooling for Mius Front.

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 12:00:19 AM)

op star is on sale now for almost nothing. The winter battles are some of my favorites.

Sokolovo 1943 is my favorite. Just epic.

ntrlpr -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 12:04:47 AM)

Aye, I've had my eye on it. Do you recommend any DLC, or is it good as-is to start with? Sokolovo it is. Thanks!

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 12:13:05 AM)

You may be overwhelmed at first but just start playing and it will become second nature. The troop placement is a little different as is the UI. I put it down after playing it for 5 minutes the first time and came back to it several months later. I sure am glad I did.

budd -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 12:17:00 AM)

i'm down. the product page says the UI got redone so looking forward to that. It doesnt say anything about quick battles, that still in?

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 12:20:05 AM)

I believe so budd

budd -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 12:25:17 AM)

looks like the manual is up on steam, time to get a jump on the new controls.

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 12:28:57 AM)

ntrlpr, if you need any help with anything send me a PM and I'll try to answer any questions. It's been a while since I've played though.

ntrlpr -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 1:00:55 AM)

Much appreciated, M_R. I may well take you up on that! I opted for just the base game; I'll get DLC further down the line if it appeals enough.

I'll definitely be following the release of Mius Front - it certainly looks gorgeous!

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 1:18:43 AM)

Particularly for a newb is 4.12

Here are a few of my old screens from in game that I took

This was a rather nasty battle indeed where every square inch of the town was fought over

Ranger33 -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 2:22:35 AM)

I've really wanted to get into this series but just seem to bounce off it each time I try. The battlefields are so large that it can be difficult to figure out what is going on. Which is of course more realistic than most games [:D]

The series covers a lot of unusual theaters which is awesome, if I could figure it out.

That is definitely one of the big hurdles, navigating the huge battlefields. I was lost at first. Then once you start to get your bearings and how to use the UI to quickly get to your units it becomes easier. There are so many things in the game that you'd never even consider such as clear weather giving way to a storm coming in with the trees bending in the harsh wind and the sun being blotted out.

In one particular night battle I remember the tense feeling as the lights from the enemy's AFV's broke the darkness moving into my defensive perimeter before all hell broke loose. It has great dynamic lighting. There are mods out that help with some subdued sound effects. It really is a truly unique game and probably the most underrated one out there.

Ever try setting your battle settings to limited? I do that so i dont miss as much, on the really big ones i feel i miss a lot of the cool moments.

budd -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 3:47:52 AM)

well dont know if i'll get to play tomorrow but i will download and install. Now we just need to find a place for all the cool screenshots[:D] .. I'll probably post mine at grogheads screenshots thread. This game is one of the reasons i wanted a new computer, now i can capture some high rez shots.

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 3:56:25 AM)

Yeah. I'll post them there also.

As a note, those personal screens I posted above are from the Matrix version. I know what you mean though. I try not to use Matrix bandwidth on a game they are not going to be selling.

On the other hand I've purchased at least 50 of their titles not including the ones I've bought for others.

Wonder if we can get a separate screens hot thread for Mius front over there. I do like that community. Asid has been very helpful concerning MF.

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 4:18:44 AM)

Heres another of my old ones posted to Matrix.

Exhausted troops catch a ride and move towards enemy lines

ntrlpr -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 7:32:34 AM)

How did I miss that there was a detailed Tank Encyclopedia in Op Star? I wouldn't have waited so long if I'd known! I wonder how they could improve on it in Mius Front, it seems extremely comprehensive (the graphs and charts are immensely pleasing).

Recognition -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/4/2016 2:25:43 PM)

There was a very good LP on youtube that really helps to understand Operation Star.

Brilliant! Thanks, Rush!

Rosseau -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/5/2016 12:07:19 AM)

Thanks Reb for the update. I have all their other stuff. What holds me back is that it will typically be heavily discounted after a time - usually quicker than other titles. But will pick it up one way or another.

If anyone gets the game let us know here how it is!

Thanks

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/5/2016 1:00:35 AM)

Well it's coming out as a full featured game for only $35 bucks. That to me is impressive especially how much there is to their games. A great bargain considering current trends imo.

I'm not sure how quick it will be discounted. The mass poliferation of AP:OS and their troubles with Paradox have taught them some harsh lessons.

Either way, glad you got the word.

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/5/2016 1:15:11 AM)

Asid from The Wargamer posted a pic of a mod that I guess he has access to. I hope he doesn't mind me reposting it here.

Dayuuuum.

It isnt just a pretty face either. These games are DEEP. You get to move your forces on a strategic map and then the battles are resolved in pauseable(sic)real time with heavy strategy. As you know I'm sure rosseau.

Jagdtiger14 -> RE: Grogs, Start You Engines (3/5/2016 4:17:00 AM)

I see its also operational (not strategy). Multi-player?...I looked for this but couldn't find anything on it.
