rhondabrwn -> Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (3/11/2016 6:54:46 PM)

OK... started for news updates :)

Brain cancer cells burnt out with radiation therapy. I can think talk read and speak again. I can die sane :)

Having to use my Fire tablet which slows me down though. Will be in Indianapolis in a week and settled in with my family. Then the cancer fight begins for real.

Staying positive. My Marine biologist daughter is turning herself into an Oncologist as she researches resources and treatments. She is a Supergirl! I would have died without her recognition of my condition from 17,000 miles away.

More later :)

My goats were sold to a guy fromPhoenix who rents his herd out for brush clearance. A good life for a goat... I am pleased. Babies are being sold for new herds and as pets.

My stallion sold to neighbor who I bred with. Foal due next month :) Storm will be happy... nice horse barn for shelter.

Dogs have good homes. Blaze is comeing with me to Indy.

Chicken flock sold to neighbor.

Going up tomorrow to clean and pack. My older son arrives tomorrow to help. Gathering medical records to document what I need for VA assistance.

A bit tired and I have Dr appetite this afternoon. Will post as I can.

Glad, your keeping us updated. What, plans for your goats?

Rhonda, as I've always said to my little warspites, when we are younger and not feeling well, all we want is our mum [:)].

Now, as I've seen recently with the passing of my mum and, more recently, Mrs W's mum (both were nursed at home by their daughters) when a mum gets older and isn't feeling too great, what she really wants is her daughter! [:)]

Lovely that you are being cared for by the people that matter and love you most.

Stay strong Rhonda, you are in our prayers.

They have made amazing advances in the treatment of cancer over the past 25 years. I am pulling for you. You seem tough and have a good family and support system around you.

Live, love, fight.

I am praying for you. I do not know about your religion. Accept my prayers as a token of my caring if nothing else.

Had a good doctor visit... several meds discontinued as no longer needed. Son arrives tomorrow morning and we head up to the ranch to pack the truck. Nice apartment found for me near my older son.

May be offline for a few days.

Val has to return to Guam on the 22nd but will be coordinating my treatment from there. She's wired into everything!

Will get back into touch when the move to Indy is complete.

Indy is supposed to have a good reputation for cancer treatment. Good Luck.

I like what she told me yesterday, that she was going for four years, not months. The lack of self pity is something most people would be experiencing right now. But not Rhonda. Just yesterday we were talking about who to support for president, when she learned who my favorite was I had to experience 2 hours of her liberal disagreements.[;)] But as usual her disagreements were well thought out and polite.

I don't know you Rhonda; I don't know most posters here, but what I do know is that you deserve all the support that you can get. For cancer doesn't care who or what you are. It can be relentless. But support from others, no matter how little, can have an impact. So here's to you defeating cancer and experiencing many more years here on earth, and more importantly with your friends and family.

parusski -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (3/13/2016 8:42:30 PM)

For the last few months before her cancer was diagnosed my wife and I had planned to visit Rhonda. We are planning a nation-wide road trip that might last months. Initially we planned on starting in September, getting to Rhonda's old place within a week. But now we are trying to rearrange everything and make our first leg of the trip straight to Rhonda. I am not sure we can pull it off, but if everything falls into place we could leave within 3 weeks, but that is a 50/50 proposition at best.

After a 12 year friendship we have grown close, I can't accept this. In my mind, a person as graceful, intelligent and kind should not get cancer. Rhonda has bravely accepted everything and is putting up a big fight. I am amazed at her calmness and philosophical views about what has happened to her.

We will not get to see her goats, dogs or anything else in her "off the grid" place. But that is ok, we just want to visit her quickly.

She told me she appreciates the posts and Pm's. Even though she may not have the energy to respond, please post or pm her, she will see it and that is part of were her strength to fight this is coming from-knowing this community cares about her, even the people who have never communicated with her at all.

That was a very kind and correct post. I have seen other people recover from cancer, with the person and doctor saying that part of the healing came from friends. Good job CGGrohnard.

+1. Family can be a massive help, both directly and indirectly in keeping you as stress free as possible in the circumstances.

DD696 -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (3/15/2016 11:30:45 PM)

Hi Rhonda -

I only know you from the posts you make. Your observations on goats made me seriously consider getting some for my ex-horse ranch here in Georgia last spring. I didn't however, thought it would be more work than I could handle.

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer (stage 2) that August and had major surgery to remove my bladder and prostate in October. I just finished my chemotherapy last Wednesday. The way I have to live life has changed over the last several months, but sometimes you can kick cancer in the ass.

I'm not religious, so I honestly can't say that I pray for you, but if my best wishes and hopes have any meaning, then you may rest assured that you have them. I love Arizona, although I was born in Idaho and now live in Georgia - but Arizona will always be the place I call home. Get back to those goats, sweetie.

Sincerely -

Larry

I'll be at home tomorrow meeting with the Hospice people. I've decided to go for the quality of life option. The Oncologists don't seem interested in my case because of the Diabetes which rules me out. The Kidney on the right has a tumor that is 23 centimeters. It doesn't get much worse. I only have basic Medicare so it could probably bankrupt the family. Hospice care in 100% paid for. I stay in my apartment and have nursing help and housekeeping and lots of other assistance. Val has to leave for Guam Friday... she will handle things from Guam. If a good alternative materializes we'll consider. I can switch back and forth in and out of the program if I try treatment. I'll be all set up.

I'm tired so this will be it for this evening. I'll share tonights letter in the Cancer thread,

Hi Rondabrwn,

My wife just cared for her mother at our home and the hospice care was very good. Medications were brought to the home plus any other need the nurse would take care of with regular visits. You'll find they take care of the the details so you'll be at ease. Take courage, thinking about you.
