We also need to develop some better drives once we're out of Earth orbit.

One is never out of a orbit. Transitions from orbit to new orbit. Checkout the simulator "Oribitor" its free and shows space travel as it really is.

Some things are mostly forbidden here but reinterpreting Michelangelo is way, way beyond the pale. Please remove. [;)]

Bomber Gas has been a landmark in the Portland area since 1947, when it arrived and became the region's most unusual filling station.

is it still there?

A flipping Ford Model A just drove by my house. Have I been caught in a worm hole?

Then stop sticking your head down wormholes. Wait for the worms to come out so you can eat them.

Out for a Sunday drive.

Model A production ended in March, 1932, after 4,858,644 had been made in all body styles. 1927-32.

That soft chug-chug-chug-chug sounded like an original engine.

Japan has a history of being outstanding woodworkers. Their joinery is some of the most complex in the world.

This goes along with their blade making skills.

A wood planing competition where they try for the thinnest and longest shaving.

It was taken down to be restored
http://www.oregonlive.com/milwaukie/index.ssf/2014/08/milwaukie_bomber.html

That air frame is worth way too much to be sitting on top of a gas station. It's probably worth more than $1 million unrestored.

Talking about wood working, there is this interesting project:

Interesting. The grayish smoke on the extreme right might be from one of the two volcanoes that were always making sulphur fumes.

I had just heard about this recently. Probably in some WWII video I purchased recently. I've been on a bit of a spree of late and can't quite keep track of things. Still looking for the one I know I saw when President Bush the first was fished out of the Pacific by a sub. Its really beginning to bother me that I can't find it.

I visited numerous times as a kid. My grandma lived in Oregon City and we always drove this way. She stopped for gas there when we needed it to make me happy.

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (11/17/2016 3:20:39 PM)

Recently we have developed in this forum a meme which goes something like this: "Boobs are the answer to all problems". Now, I believe in dialectic logic (No, clones [Jim Rome reference], not dielectric, dialectic). The idea of it is that a thing, a process, a system or being generates by its very existence its own antithesis. For instance, on the subject of boobs, I feel that fake ones are antithetical to the real ones, regardless of size. Now, I am no Manichaean, and I would like to name this antithesis The Banality of Boobs. I offer here an example of what I'm talking about. Feel free to post other examples from either side of the coin.

I hope this isn't censored, I was taught as a youngster how to relieve the pressure on these, into a pail. That wasn't child abuse was it?

Chickenboy -> RE: OT Things to ponder (11/17/2016 3:29:16 PM)

My wife did her residency in Wisconsin. Veterinary residents earned extra money checking for adulteration of cow udders at local and regional dairy auctions. Prior to their intercession / intervention, upwards of 50% of cows would have air added to their udders to 'puff them up' and make them look more engorged (and by extension, more productive).

So, my belizarded friend, even the pictured species you've provided is beset with 'fake ones'.

Are there any studies on how that practice affects the cow's self esteem?
