warspite1, better not post any pics of your fütbol heroes. Somebody just started a thread about that rubbish. I will petition the moderator to lock that thread down.

Is that "bird" Emily Mortimer from Newsroom? I'll take Olivia Munn over her. I love freckles.

That expression says "I dare you to try ...."
I think she could make you hurt, even if you did detach your tail.

You are certainly correct. I'm hurting just looking at her picture. But I wouldn't detach my tail, after all she might have some use for it while it was still attached to me.

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/13/2016 4:00:07 AM)

I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to flip another bird on this thread in the same day.

warspite1

Easy there Mr Gorn, your starting to sound like a certain person [;)]

But by way of clarification I would not dream of posting pictures of footballers on this thread. And if I did it would certainly not be Lionel flippin' Messi.

Now Sir Harold of Kane on the other hand.....

He's one of our own
He's one of our own
Harry Kane
He's one of our own

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/13/2016 12:01:51 PM)

How do you know I'm not that certain someone in a gorn suit and heavily medicated? Let me make a checklist:

1) Everyone who thinks gorns are not perfect are fatheads!

2) Anyone who likes fütbol is a fathead.

4) Everyone who thinks gorns are not perfect are fatheads!

4) Anyone who thinks I can't make a perfect checklist, well, I know some people who know people who can get you banned for life from this forum!

*** Just to make sure no one mistakes as to whom I'm trying to satirize, as there are several forumites who enumerate their posts, I'm certainly not referring to Alfred, who is a really good guy just a bit stuffy. I'm referring to someone who is a former forumite.

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/13/2016 6:38:16 PM)

No. He usually stayed out of this forum but did show in "The War Room", I think. I'm not sure, nobody ever goes there anymore, it's too crowded.

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 1:14:15 PM)

OK, here's your bird for the day. I have a little video of it where you can hear me whisper "what the f*** is that?"

[image]local://upfiles/37002/5A6DC37D400D4C79874648732C4265A7.jpg[/image]

It was quite chilly here this morning so I had my window shut which in part explains the fuzziness of the pic as it was through a very ancient plate of glass. With birds though, you don't always have enough time to fiddle with focusing the camera perfectly (remember perfectly is the enemy of the goodly).

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 4:51:39 PM)

Okay, I've already given you a bird of the day (which I have yet to identify), but I have a couple of others I just can't hold back. First one of my all time favorites, Loretta Young.

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 4:57:41 PM)

Oh dear. Wish I had a time machine (and was young again). Here's another: Virginia Mayo. One point of interest for me is that (according to her Wiki) her family's roots in St. Louis date back at least to 1797, when the left bank of the Mississippi was not yet a US possession.

What a startling pretty lady. Great eyes and lips.

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 5:55:12 PM)

Alright Warspite, you've got me started and I just can't stop. Ava Gardner. She exuded tomboyish charm which for whatever reason really turns me on, and she had the deep voice to go with it. Sophia Loren could do that too (see Boy on a Dolphin I don't know how Alan Ladd lived through that movie) but she only did on occasion, Ava just couldn't help herself. Ava Gardner:

Well you really should pop into the General Discussion Forum from time to time. We don't bite and even Gorns are welcome [:)]

I think you would like the Australian Beauties thread for some reason - and your postings would be a welcome addition.

I was there a long time ago and nobody appreciated my complete and utter infatuation with Rachel Ward.

So what? I thought Gorn's had thicker....er....skin? than that. Gorn-up man and get yorself over to the AB thread now. You have my permission to post Virginia Mayo all over the thread [:)]

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 6:07:37 PM)

Some might think I like older women. They are correct. Women get better with age. Men get hairy backs which makes me want to vomit! That is why I cannot abide fine art films that have Ron Jeremy in them regardless whom the actress might be. [:D]

Maybe you should rename that thread non-denominational place of worship.

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 6:22:40 PM)

By the way, Ava Gardner played opposite Grace Kelly (and Clark Gable) in Mogambo, Now Grace Kelly's face appears in the dictionary next to the definition of unbelievably beautiful, but when I watch Mogambo I know who I want to nail and it isn't Grace Kelly (or Clark Gable).

edit: (or an elephant)

second edit: (or a crocodile)

third edit: maybe a hippo

Nah, AB is historical - I think to change its name now would be sacrilege

My brother was able to identify this bird as a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak.

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 10:27:49 PM)

That also solves my identification problem in post #204. That is a female of
that species. Here is a female of my species, my mom in fact.

Cover your children's eyes before reading this post.

St. Louis is near the southernmost extent of their breeding area.

LoBaron -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 10:52:30 PM)

Not attempting to derail this sophisticated debated in any way but...geoff...have those rumors about your sig causing epileptic seizures finally been confirmed?

geofflambert -> RE: OT Things to ponder (5/14/2016 11:04:44 PM)

Lizards only have one kind of seizure - you. I think the need for my current signature is passing very quickly. I've been shocked before, though.
