In the East Med, CA Euginio di Savoia initiates the searching.

CW can fly a Buffalo from Malta to the 2-box. Does it wish to fly?

Which box are the Italians in? Any of the cruisers loaded with troops?

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:02:45 PM)

CA's in the 3-box, none with troops.

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:05:32 PM)

No air support to the East Med.

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:16:51 PM)

East Med Searches: Axis 7, Allies 2.

How would the Allies wish to spend their surprise points?

The Town-class cruiser HMS Liverpool sails with her Group II sister HMS Gloucester in response to sightings of four Italian cruisers off the coast of Libya. The report states two of the Italian ships are heavy cruisers, but the Royal Navy laughs in the face of danger, giggles at the thought of 8-inchers and positively wets itself at the notion that the Regia Marina can fight......

And decide to shadow the Italians and guide in the battleships. If the battleships can get their gear together and actually leave port.

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:24:59 PM)

Moving on to Cape St. Vincent, the Italian sub initiates combat.

Do any of the various RAF and Spanish air force units wish to fly? Spit and Chirri make 1-box. Hurricane 0-box, Harrow 2-box and Blenheim 3-box.

[image]local://upfiles/47730/5E38DDA18D054105893A2D687D4BF286.jpg[/image]

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:28:52 PM)

The Spanish fighter to to the 0-box.

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:40:27 PM)

Searches: Axis 1, Allies 10.

Only the 0-box is included and the Axis use 4 surprise points to choose sub combat. The remaining 7 will be used to increased damage.

The Allied escort rattles the sub with depth charges but without major effect.

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:42:30 PM)

How would the Allies like to apportion the losses?

[image]local://upfiles/47730/0FEBEBF96974483BB931299C0CE53C7F.jpg[/image]

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:46:08 PM)

The Dutch convoy points suffer the losses and the former Danish convoy points abort to Liverpool via the North Atlantic and the Faeroes Gap.

Edit: So that they avoid the combat zone Bay of Biscay.

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:49:10 PM)

Final tally.

The Italian sub will have another go. How about the Allies and any additional air?

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:49:55 PM)

Allies stay. No additional air.

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:58:03 PM)

Searches Axis 4, Allies 8. The sub loses contact with the remaining convoys and the aborted CP's return safely to Liverpool.

Biscay, the Nav initiates combat and the Luftwaffe piles in with another Nav and 2 Ftrs to the 1-box.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 9:58:40 PM)

4 point fighter too!!!

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 10:03:24 PM)

The RAF could sortie a number of aircraft. The single-engine fighters to the 1-box, the Beaufighter and Hampden to the 2-box. Any takers?

Yes. They will take of shortly.

With this post I assume that the 4 strength fighter didn't join the others?

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 10:11:51 PM)

After a frantic signal from Luftwaffe High Command, the other fighter was launched into the fray, also in the 1-box.

Edit: I was concentrating on setting up the graphic and Allied intercept ranges, so didn't see Mayhemizer's post until I had posted.

The two Spitfires in Liverpool escort the convoys in the 0-box.

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/24/2016 10:28:06 PM)

Italian sub stays deep.

Searches: Axis 9, Allies 8. The Ocean can be a big place in which to hide ships.

No Strategic air.

Japanese 105 mm's and a Lnd try a ground-strike at Sian. The results are about as much as could realistically be hoped for.

Kyoto Mil rails to Tungkwan.

The Japs occupy Nanchung (7 rolled so no US Entry effects) and move another Inf towards Changsa. In the north 2nd Mot moves back towards Sian, it's place in the mountains taken by an Eng Div.

We'll need to finish here for the evening as Mayhemizer will want to orchestrate the German land moves.

German forces push deep into Spain but there is a lull in the combat.

AllenK -> RE: 4 player E-mail: A (7/25/2016 7:21:17 PM)

In fact, the only land combat this impulse will be in China, where the Japanese have a go at Sian.

The attackers request HQ Support from Yamamoto. 4 points of ground support (2 aircraft) are added.

In a hopeless case of Chinese (or in this case Japanese) whispers, the commander of the attack is less than impressed when he receives the following reply from Gen Yamamoto.

"Re your request STOP. Am somewhat perplexed as to how this will help but, as requested, cheque enclosed for three and four pence STOP. Good luck with the attack STOP. XXX Yamamoto (8 rolled)."

Final odds. Do the Communists wish an assault or blitz?
