SO41 i5: ground strikes
I assumed the two CW CVP (one in CSV and one in W. Med) would not intercept the Stuka since I had plenty of fighters to counter intercept.
If I was only to get one unit, this was the one.

Turn 13. Sep/Oct 1941. Allied #7. RAF Ground Strikes x 2.

Desperate times call for desperate measurements. The brave young men of RAF bomber command take off from airfields in Spanish and French Morocco without fighter support and on desperate low odds missions to disrupt axis ground and air forces threatening Gibraltar.

Do you wish to intercept either or both of these missions?

If so, which fighters do you assigned and how do you allocate them for the intercept(s)?

Turn 11. Sep/Oct 1941. Axis #9. Weather.

Pat, back to you with fine weather in the North Temperate. I'm headed out and probably won't be back for at least an hour or two.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (11/12/2016 2:11:49 AM)

SO41 i9:
Actions: GE Land, JP and IT combined
Italy moves sub to Faeroes Gap and a Fighter to the 2-box of the W. Med

Initiate searches in 4 zones.
CSV, Gabbiano, rolls 8-8 results in no combat
W. Med, Freccia (just flew out), rolls 10-9 results in no combat
Faeroes Gap, sub, rolls of 5-1, with the one the Swordfish, which I flew out to the zero box for you, could engage in a air sea battle. Used 4 SP to move the attack up two columns to a X on the sub, which it failed and thereby sunk.
BoB, Macchi, rolls of 10-5 allow the CW to avoid the combat.

No luck at sea when and where I need it.

Below is the GE ground strikes on Gibraltar. You can fly the two CVP as fighters. I do have a 4 pt fighter that could counter intercept. Last time I passed for you, but with clear weather and only one GE fighter to counter intercept, you may have other thoughts. Any interception?

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (11/12/2016 11:14:54 AM)

No interceptions.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (11/12/2016 9:02:04 PM)

SO41 i9:
Ground strikes went well (flipped the remaining organized units in Gibraltar).
Para-dropping on Gibraltar, do the CVPs wish to intercept as fighters? They can be counter intercepted.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (11/13/2016 12:55:21 AM)

No intercepts. Sorry for the delay. Been out all day and I'm still out. Son had green power race event.

But I will use maximum defensive shore bombardment.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (11/13/2016 2:50:07 AM)

SO41 i9: Land Attack
Paradrop was successful.
Three CW CA's provided defensive shore bombardment.
German bomber provided 3 pts of ground support (based on you early decisions, I did not intercept with the CVP's. If you were to intercept, the paradrop was the mission to stop - the extra +1 for a paradrop is work a lot more than these ground factors).
I declined the notional, the extra factor was not work the extra +1 for a disrupted defender.

Assumed you'd wanted assault, and then rolled just like the naval searches... high. Which was very nice for the axis. This marks the first time I have ever taken Gibraltar and it shows that it is best to be lucky and roll high on land attacks.

I shattered your HQ. It was toss up between him and the MECH, but assumed you'd want him back sooner than the MECH.

US Entry roll for the fall of Gibraltar. It must have happened right as the World Series completed game 7.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (11/13/2016 3:04:15 AM)

SO41 i9:
Air Supply.

The GE transport flies to reorganize the 5-2 ART. Your CVP in the W Med could have intercepted. Based on your past decisions I decided not to intercept (I could have counter intercepted).

Pat,

Given the good chance that the turn will end on my next impulse, if it does how do you wish to handle the Nazi-Soviet chits?

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (11/15/2016 12:55:27 AM)

Both new ones to offense. Move the 6 in the defense pool to the offense pool.

SO41 i13: Naval Combat
Italy took a land. Japan and German take combines.
JP moved a CA to a Chinese port with a division in it and a CV to Canton from the homeland.
Germany moved their fleet out to the BoB 3-box.

In CSV the 6pt TAC Ju87D initiated searches. Rolls of 5/7 meant the Italian NAV in the 4-box found. It engage the CW CA in the 2-box with 5 surprise points in a naval air battle.
AA was not effective against a single bomber.
IT used 4 SP to move the damage on the CA up from ne to D and the CA failed it's damage control roll and is damaged.
I assume you will stay for round 2.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (11/16/2016 1:04:49 AM)

Round 2: search rolls of 6/3 allowed the CW to engage the 2-box only with 4 surprise points, which were used to avoid the combat.
