The Core are all over the poor Pindare Minor Territory.

A different Core cruiser engagement with a Pindare defense base.

How would YOU like to be on the crew of Xeros IX 073?? That's the Core light cruiser in the middle of all of those mean and nasty Naxx warships. [:(]

I really like your updates. Is there a reason you're focusing on the Core atm, or just highlighting an empire? Those Core BB's look tough. I've always been a rail gun fan just because it was another way to handicap myself, but I grew to respect their power. After Mordachi changed rail guns in UE, and made them competitive, I was hooked. It seems weird that more battleships are not on the front lines. You showed a few pictures of just smaller class ships fighting.

Thanks! [sm=00000436.gif] I have focused on the Char Dilba and now the Core for a couple of reasons: I wanted to show what steling their operations maps revealed; I set them to fighting each other to save myself years ago and was wondering at how things were shaping up; and I was curious about the seeming lack of Core BBs at the Char Dilba front as well as where the bulk of Naxx ships were.

A really big post tomorrow. The war has gone hot again...

Retreat1970 -> RE: The Core Axis (10/5/2016 6:31:37 PM)

Just checking in.

Twigster -> Coming Soon: The Minutiae of Galactic Conquest (10/19/2016 11:10:58 PM)

Apologies to the fans, but quite honestly my brain came close to exploding from the workout I was giving it for some time (not just DW:U, btw). Anyhoo, I have not dropped this project (not at all) and will have something up soon. [8D]

Retreat1970 -> RE: Coming Soon: The Minutiae of Galactic Conquest (10/20/2016 12:33:52 AM)

Nice. Take your time. I was hoping it wasn't dead.

Retreat1970 -> RE: Coming Soon: The Minutiae of Galactic Conquest (10/24/2016 9:29:05 PM)

But...if you are done, I'd like a savegame file. I'd like to check your game out. See if I could do as good as you did.

If not no biggie. I'd have to find room to reinstall anyways.

Twigster -> Mea Culpa (10/29/2016 7:13:46 PM)

And now for the rest of the story:

In the beginning there was the Crash. I had played out the war to retake the remaining Imperial planets the Naxx had taken previously (successfully, btw) when, during the Save attempt, the unthinkable happened. That one event alone would have been enough to make the most die hard gamer throw their laptop out the window. OK, perhaps not, but you all follow. Anyway, After a bit of time off ( for the disgust to wear off), I loaded again only to begin the war again when I noticed that performance was really not up to snuff. Interspersed throughout all of this are various periods of me slacking (i.e., me playing other games to let off steam.)That began a process of narrowing down what the cause was: was it a virus? Malware/adware? At a save file of over 128MB, was my 6 year old Lenovo Thinkpad T510 (that I used when was working at IBM) warhorse telling me that it needed more (gasp!) memory?? In retrospect, this investigation was entirely a good thing as in the process I performed all kinds of maintenance on my machine that had not been done in...a while...[sm=fighting0056.gif] The happy ending was that I discovered that it was my profile that was corrupting and that, dear friends, was that. Necro, my laptop's computer name, is back in the pink. And so is the game, and this AAR [:D]

my profile that was corrupting

What do you mean exactly.

Twigster -> RE: Mea Culpa (11/29/2016 4:01:10 AM)

Hello all, I am back! [8D]

What I meant by that, Retreat, was that the Windows profile in question was corrupted. Fixed now.

I am back after an extended experience with Aurora 4X.... WOW! [:D]

Retreat1970 -> RE: Mea Culpa (11/29/2016 4:16:32 AM)

Good to see you. I've been playing other games too. Mostly older games (on a budget). Having fun with Forged Alliance now that my PC can run it very well.

Twigster -> RE: Mea Culpa (12/5/2016 12:50:29 AM)

Thanks for the welcome back. To be honest, this AAR has become so large and complex from a role-playing standpoint that I felt I had to take some time way. It is not abandoned, but on further analysis I have found that the Empire requires far more tweaking to keep it competitive than desire to simply 'play through' will permit. In other words, I am having to make more adjustments than expected and I am no longer powering through it as initially was. That to explain the massive slow- down. [;)]

Retreat1970 -> RE: Mea Culpa (12/5/2016 1:07:10 AM)

I understand. Quit of you want to quit, it's ok. The game can get too unwieldy, and that's why sometimes I enjoy small maps.
