Admiral DadMan -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/13/2017 9:48:57 PM)

Ranger
-needs to swap out the 5"/38s (1622) for 5"/25s (1577). She never mounted the 5"/38s because they were too heavy.
-you have a slot reserved for torpedoes but a zero value.
-Maneuver #'s are different for every slot.
-Slot 1777 the first two weapons should be 8x2 40mms (1539) to replace the 5"/25s

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/13/2017 9:54:11 PM)

The 5"/38s will be shifted.

No TTs.

The maneuver #'s decrease as the weight increases. The final upgrade is historical where the 5" guns were taken off due to weight issues. Had a pretty detailed write-up in the book about her excessive top weight, high speed maneuver fears, and the dangers with it.

Keep looking for more!

Admiral DadMan -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/13/2017 10:01:29 PM)

Understood, but think that you're overthinking it. Her MVR by 1943 is worse than a ship twice her size. As I understood it during alpha/beta, MVR is more a function of ship length than displacement

DOCUP -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/13/2017 11:34:31 PM)

The Ranger BC designs, when where those suggested?

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/14/2017 3:44:31 AM)

Those designs come from 1930-1931 I believe...

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/15/2017 4:23:59 AM)

Did some polishing. Between the Storms is pretty much done. I need that art work for a 4 turret BC with 12" guns. That is about it.

Will begin working on BTSL this weekend. It will go far faster as all we have to do is put into it what we just completed with BTS.

NICE!

traskott -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/15/2017 9:51:54 AM)

Will the "Alaska cruiser killer" be added in this mod? Thanks!!

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/15/2017 1:22:26 PM)

YES!

4x3 12" Guns. The USS Chesapeake ROCKS!

She is paired with the USS Constellation (in the Scouting Force) starting the war near Jarvis Isle.

traskott -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/15/2017 3:26:29 PM)

[&o][&o]

Great! Thanks

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/15/2017 3:28:05 PM)

Just got some magnificent artwork for the new US BC. THANKS Scot!

Asked him to Post it here...

Twelve gun 12-inch BC in a 4x3 configuration. A little less of a "Death Star":

And then there's the original version of my "Death Star":

[&o][&o] Great job, hope see it soon in action [;)]

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/17/2017 1:13:55 PM)

I'd like to thank Juan for sending me his Tosa artwork. VERY nice!

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/17/2017 2:35:41 PM)

We've got artwork coming for Chichibu and then all is well.

Started working on Between the Storms Lite this morning. Implementing all the changes done in BTS to this set of files. Should be very quick.

Should note, due to a comment by Michael in an email, that I had added Shinano and Aki as 3rd and 4th Yamato-Class BBs. The player will have the choice as to spend the points on whether or not to build them. The shipyards will be PACKED with lots of choices.

This is the main difference between the two Mods. BTS has the Yamato's and BTSL builds the Owari-Class BB with 16" Guns. The change allows for several more ships to be completed by Dec 7th (due to no expansion needs for the yards) and a much better shipyard situation at war's start. Build-out in BTSL is 4 Owari and 2 B-65 BCs. VERY nice!

Following Japanese tradition for building special-use ships, Michael made the suggestion and I agreed that the Japanese would have built AEs for the Yamato's. Following that train of thought, the Japanese player get EXACTLY two Karate-Class AE that come in in May and Aug 42. MIGHTY useful and don't let a sub get 'em!

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/17/2017 2:40:27 PM)

One other cause championed by Michael was to allow for the Americans to bring in several fighter units as full wings of 75 planes. Terrifying thought for a 75 plane--single unit sweep but I totally concurred. The Allies get one in 1943 and one in 1944.

Admiral DadMan -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/17/2017 2:41:36 PM)

"...two Karate-Class AE..."

I almost spit out my covfefe...

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/17/2017 3:18:45 PM)

THOUGHT it was funny! Just couldn't resist on the name of the class...

Admiral DadMan -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/17/2017 10:16:54 PM)

Or it could be Hai-Karate like the after shave.

Anyway, try this on for Chichibu:

And this after mid-war radar/AA upgrades:

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/18/2017 1:46:39 AM)

YUM! Very nice...

Lecivius -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/18/2017 2:30:36 PM)

Curious. Are you planning on bumping allied fighter production a smidge for the new wings? By '43 the problem isn't squadrons, its manufacturing support.

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/18/2017 9:51:49 PM)

That is an honest, good thought.

We've already bumped Allied numbers once and we have the off-map procurement system.

Michael: Do you think we need more?

btd64 -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/18/2017 10:24:51 PM)

No more for the purchase system. Just a small increase in the production....GP

John 3rd -> RE: Shifting to Allies (9/18/2017 10:30:05 PM)

Could be do-able. Which in particular?

Admiral DadMan -> RE: LBC Chichibu (9/18/2017 11:26:57 PM)

Taking a complete shot-in-the-dark, here is the Light Battlecruiser Chichibu. Her turrets come from the incomplete Kaga. I imagined a 'typical' Japanese CA and raised her by about 30-40%. Figured that the initial displacement was around 19,000 but has gone up with reconstruction.

Have no idea regarding armor or durability. Think I need to raise Endurance and Fuel. Took a slight lowering of BC Amagi and the Kongos.

Am not wedded to this presently so provide some good thoughts and constructive commentary!

Kitakami -> RE: LBC Chichibu (9/18/2017 11:33:19 PM)

I like the two 15.5cm turrets better than only one. Feels more like a precursor of the Yamato.

John 3rd -> RE: LBC Chichibu (9/19/2017 12:16:19 AM)

Agreed.

Sort of like how the Chesapeake is now a direct precursor to the Alaska-Class.

DOCUP -> RE: LBC Chichibu (9/19/2017 12:42:55 AM)

Very nice Dadman. I also like the two 15cm Chichibu. John, Dadman would you mind if I use the Chichibu art work for my mod?

Thanks. It look awesome, great work.

Thanks, there's also a pagoda version:
