The Road Ahead (Subject to change)

In an effort to provide a little transparency, here are our plans for the near future. As with all deadlines, they are not set in stone, but we are striving to meet these to the best of our abilities as we are a small team with no development budget.

CS Middle East 2.01 UPDATE -- Released March 2018

CS Vietnam 1.00 - Spring/Summer 2019

CS East Front III (1939 - 1941) 1.00 - Spring/Summer 2020

CS West Front II (1939 - 1941) 1.00 - Spring/Summer 2021

CS Pacific Front (1939 - 1941) 1.00 - Spring/Summer 2022

CS Cold War 1.00 - - Spring/Summer 2023

Each of these will be CORE games with DLC's to follow.

budd -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 3:29:33 AM)

A little surprised at the list. I know the games were getting un-bundled but thought all the content for each front would be in single games, not by years. i'm reserving judgement for now but that is a surprise.

Jason Petho -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 4:13:03 AM)

Realistically, in order to expedite the releases, smaller time frames are required.

Doing full games, with substantial content, would take multiple years a piece.

budd -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 4:35:35 AM)

Makes sense, so the other years will be DLC in 2 year increments? I'm not going to ask about pricing, although im sure it will come up. I am curious about ME 1.03 taking 9 months, anything you can share about why the long time frame on 1.03, plans ect.

Jason Petho -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 5:00:44 AM)

I am hoping the DLC's will be released in 12 month incremennts, that will depend on a few factors though.

ME 1.03 is being worked on with Vietnam and EFIII, so will take a bit longer than usual as we're trying to incorporate engine changes to all games as we go along. Seeing what comes with 1.03 will give a preview of what will be coming (not all, but in part) for the rest of the games. Don't forget, they are living games and will all be continually updated with the features, etc, to ensure they are consistent.

The price of each of the CORE games will vary depending on the level of effort included. We don't set the pricing, but I will be making a case for them to be realistically priced, especially with the consideration that DLC's will be coming for them.

budd -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 5:26:26 AM)

Thx for the info Jason.

Jason Petho -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 5:30:23 AM)

No problem, budd!

Jason Petho -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 5:36:43 AM)

From the Facebook Campaign Series page relating to the first post:

Question:
quote:

How will these new games mesh/not mesh with existing CS games? I'm most interested in WF/EFII.

Response:
quote:

Maps will be compatible, ORG files will not (as they are being rebuilt and expanded from scratch with new UID's) which in turn SCN files will not, since they rely on the ORG files to function. Unofficially, I am hoping there will be a conversion tool internally available.

budd -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 5:48:36 AM)

What about DCG's? Any plans to add this to all the games.

Jason Petho -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 5:57:12 AM)

I'll be building the ORG's to be DCG ready.

They may/may not come with the initial release, but they will certainly be coming, especially for the WW2 titles.

Well we do have a bit of an EMCON situation going on as there's things that for instance would not just look right should we reveal what's going on. But there are some pretty big things coming up already in 1.03, instead of being introduced after VN/EF III out, so that is definitively one reason for pushing it forward a bit.

BradK82 -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 5:36:57 PM)

I have to regretfully say I am very disappointed in the recent series of post. I am a big fan of the series and have been a cheerleader of it being rebooted. After CSME was released I had high hopes that this team was finally focused.

However now it seems things are in limbo again.

I know most of your fans want EF, WF and RS. I personally had hopes the SE Asia tactical game would be produced first and then I would I have supported whatever games you guys produced thereafter. It seems this plan is already being shelved and a SE Asia game may never happen. Of course you have to have do right for your bottom line and I as one customer don't matter. Just let me make a couple of suggestions if you don't want to lose more customers.

1) Don't make announcements for things you have no intentions for following through on.

2) Pick a team leader to keep the focus on what you have promised. I don't care if it is Jason or berto or crossroads or whoever just pick a leader to guide things and keep the focus.

Crossroads -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/17/2016 5:53:00 PM)

Hello BradK82,

I believe that might be a tad grim look at the roadmap ahead. Granted, we're keeping it abstract yet for a while, but the near future will get more clear as we go ahead. So I'd think this all in a manner that there's a few tracks that will have a team each taking them forward.

  • VN track, with DLCs to add to that. That's where the SE Asia would go
  • WW2 track, with the three fronts, each under their core game as they differ in many aspects, while there's common ground as well.
  • "Cold War / ME" track, with further ME conflicts under ME core, and then the dedicated CW core for the Fulda Gap hypotheticals as well as for the other historical CW era batles.

The thing here is that this should give us the freedom to focus on certain eras and locations at the time, and having a dedicated team to them. That's the theory anyway. So the team you want to keep focused on would be the VN team, so that they would follow up quickly with new content after VN is out.

We're laying out the groundwork to support all this, for instance the WW2 German OoB Jason posted was a common WW2 one, not like currently where they differ between EF and WF which makes the maintenance of them a nightmare. Now the core Platoon level capability is standard, while the higher level units especially Regts Bdes Divs Corps would be front specific.

But please keep the questions coming. It is why we posted this roadmap in the first place [:)]

CSVietnam will be released in tandem with EFIII. CSVietnam still being worked on. All the countries are built for it (some graphics still need to be updated though) and maps are being produced for the scenarios to be included. There are engine updates that Berto needs to be address before serious scenario design can be accomplished, in the meantime, I am working on EFIII countries.

Jafele -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (9/18/2016 1:48:26 PM)

Do we want important improvements, many enhancements and bug fixes? Yes

Then a lot of time is required to get it. Obviously it´s not very difficult to understand.

Happy to know you´re working yet on EF! Take the time you need to improve the CS titles. [;)]

    Hello sinbuster!

We are hoping to have CS: Vietnam out in next summer, and CS: East Front 1939-1941 by the end of next year.

Will the Iraq vs Iran DLC or any other DLCs be able to be downloaded at MAtrix Games or is there going to be a 3rd party like steam I have to download it from?

Warhorse -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (10/23/2017 9:37:47 PM)

    Pretty sure just from Matrix.

Jason Petho -> RE: The Road Ahead (Subject to change) (10/24/2017 1:53:41 AM)

It’s up to Matrix to decide if our game is finally steam worthy. With all the improvements with 2.00, we really think it is.
