warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 4:48:03 AM)

8th - 15th September 1940

Here is a summary of events

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 4:50:19 AM)

8th - 15th September 1940

This looks like a no brainer so I say yes - although I hate spending the MPP given that I need an army....

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 4:52:36 AM)

8th - 15th September 1940

Reinforcements

Germany receives a Mechanised unit that goes straight to the Eastern Front.

MPP Expenditure

Germany: German coffers get a boost with the fall of Belgium. I build some tanks and corps and spend a few points on reinforcement and upgrade.

Italy: Saved

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 5:00:18 AM)

8th - 15th September 1940

The wolf packs continue their long journey home. With the French fleet gone and some air cover in Norway available, I try and get a new pack out to sea.

Elsewhere the army makes its long trek east. I do not want to spend any points on operational movement if I can avoid it.

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 5:07:49 AM)

22nd September - 3rd October 1940

My immediate reaction to this was to say no - but what the hell [:)] Let's see what happens....

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 5:12:59 AM)

22nd September - 3rd October 1940

British submarines attack my convoy pipeline to Norway. Two destroyer flotillas - the 1st and 2nd - are dispatched to the Skaggerak and destroy the enemy. Meanwhile the British intercept my wolf pack, trying to get to the Atlantic, before it has even left Norwegian waters....

My naval war is going from rubbish to incompetent to ... what is below that?

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 5:19:45 AM)

22nd September 1940 - 3rd October 1940

Reinforcements
None

MPP Expenditure

Germany: One army and the rest is spent on upgrades and reinforcement as my units reach the front.

Italy: All MPP spent on upgrading what I can - ships and army.

Orm -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 8:47:36 AM)

Have you decided on reinforcing Africa, or not?

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 9:14:48 AM)

I understand I get the Afrika Korps as a decision event, but no, I don't intend to do anything else.

It is my understanding as well. But I always assumed that it cost a lot to send the Korps to Africa. So I kind of wondered if you planned to send it, or not. Because if you do not then mayble the Italian forces in Libya should prepare for a defensive campaign? Maybe even withdraw towards Tripoli?

warspite1

Yes, I want to conduct a defensive campaign - and hope that the Afrika Korps will have enough punch to give unfortified Allied units a bloody nose - a sort of fighting retreat with strong counter-punches. The defence of Sicily has already started, my engineers are hard at work on building a fortress in the northeast of the island.

Is it to expensive to transport the engineer to Libya in order to prepare defensive positions there?

warspite1

Everything is too expensive for the Italians. Its almost as if some ridiculous, preening buffoon has taken the country into a war for which they are wholly unprepared [:D]

Given that there was only one to go around, I thought it better employed in Sicily - I'm probably wrong, but its my first time as the Axis so I'll just see where my incompetent leadership takes me. Actually, come to think of it, I make a pretty good Mussolini [:D]

freeboy -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/5/2017 10:43:17 AM)

fyi, I always use a little extra punch added to AK air and maybe a armored inf to push into and take egypt...

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/12/2017 3:16:24 AM)

14th - 25th October 1940

I clicked to early and lost the MPP summary before taking a picture. The inability to call this back up is really annoying [:@]

Reinforcements:
None

MPP Expenditure:

Germany: One x Army and a few upgrades for units in the east. I save 75MPP as I am going to need some operational movement pretty soon.

Italy: I upgrade what I can. I have almost finished upgrading the Regia Marina.

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/12/2017 3:21:34 AM)

14th - 25th October 1940

Having not wanted to go to war in the first place I might as well say yes to this - even though there is only a 30% chance.

EDIT: Hey it worked!! [:)]

Here is the MAS

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/12/2017 3:30:42 AM)

14th - 25th October 1940

Wolf pack Hammer dives to avoid destruction and reaches port in Norway - safe for the moment. The four wounded wolf packs continue on their way back. Three are now north of Iceland.

Having declared war on Greece I have no units to actually do anything with so I guess its probably realistic! Its a bit annoying though - I feel there is a lack of control over my own forces and strategy. The Germans are in no position to assist either. I guess I need to spend a load of points on operational movement and get some help to the Italians in the Balkans.

The Italian war machine goes into action....[8|]

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/12/2017 3:53:02 AM)

5th - 16th November 1940

Reinforcements:
Germany receive an AA and an Infantry Corps - both of which go to the East.

MPP Expenditure:

Germany: 2 x Tactical Bombers and upgrade of a couple of units.
Italy: Reinforcement and upgrades to the Regia Marina and a unit in Albania

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/12/2017 3:58:04 AM)

5th - 16th November 1940

The British raid Taranto, which was a bit out of order! Only the old battleship Caio Duilio was in at the time so damage was not too bad. However she still needs repairing and I cannot afford the MPP. I spend them anyway at the expense of upgrading some fighters.

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/12/2017 4:02:03 AM)

5th - 16th November 1940

The British have obviously had three Weetabix for their breakfast this morning as they also get all unnecessary in Libya. Graziani's 10th Army counter attacks (good idea) supported by I Corps (bad idea).

To hell with the Balkans, I need to get some aircraft to North Africa.

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/18/2017 6:13:15 AM)

27th November - 8th December 1940

Reinforcements:

Germany
Manstein HQ which is placed in East Prussia

MPP Expenditure

Germany - All German expenditure is taken on reinforcing the units about to attack Yugoslavia
Italy - It takes almost 50% of the Italian MPP to get some bombers to North Africa. I reinforce the two units in Cyrennaica and upgrade the Italian fighters.

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/18/2017 6:24:26 AM)

27th November - 8th December 1940

In other news:

- The Romanians have joined the Axis
- The German wolf packs are still struggling to slowly get home via the Arctic
- The British continue to attack the Italians in North Africa. Graziani's 10th Army is holding its own at the moment....
- The Greeks have entered Albania

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/18/2017 6:37:21 AM)

19th - 30th December 1940

Reinforcements:

Germany
III Corps
13th Army
12th Army - all to the Eastern Front

MPP Expenditure:

Germany - Al points spent either on the Afrika Korps or units in the East
Italy - The Italians upgrade some rear area personnel.

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/18/2017 6:42:44 AM)

19th - 30th December 1940

The Afrika Korps arrive - Huzzah!

Although they are nowhere near full strength, and at a time I need to build up forces for the East that is not good....[:(]

[image]local://upfiles/28156/25545A8183F444AEACFA95FD453851D6.jpg[/image]

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/18/2017 6:51:21 AM)

19th - 30th December 1940

I reinforce the Afrika Korps to the max and then proceed to operate the Italians like a bozo. I don't use my Italian bombers against the British armour but go straight in with 10th Army. The weakens the tanks yet further and only then do I attack with my aircraft [8|] which find RAF interceptors... I cannot finish the tank unit off because I have previously reinforced I Corps.

Good grief...

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/18/2017 7:03:56 AM)

20th January - 10th February 1941

Reinforcements

Germany:
14th Panzergrenadiers
11th Panzer
15th Army - all to the Eastern Front

MPP Expenditure

Germany - Same as before the Germans need to keep the Afrika Korps supplied and reinforced, but the East is the priority
Italy - the Italians try and make good some losses but save 40+ points for future

warspite1 -> RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR (2/18/2017 7:04:58 AM)

20th January - 10th February 1941

Time moves on....fast.

The Australian Infantry try and sneak in behind the Italian positions to destroy their communications link to Benghazi and beyond. However, they run slap bang into the middle of the advancing 15th and 21st Panzer Divisions. The Australian infantry is routed in the process.

British carrier planes did some serious damage to the Luftwaffe fighters (Come on guys this really needs to be looked at because its just so unrealistic [&:]). Supermarina orders the sub in Benghazi to sea but nothing is found of the hit and run raider.
