With sound advise from the posters here playing a little better against the Russians, have kind of ignored the naval game, not a good idea.

A minor quirk IMO occured last night in a game playing as the Axis one of my subs with no upgrades was attacked by a US carrier some 5 hexes away, the sub received no damage but the carrier lost 2 points. I am asssuming that the damage was the loss of a few planes unless the Sub could fire a torpedo at the carrier from some 30 miles away [:(]

Now that sub must of had a couple of 88's on their deck [;)] ok just joking, I could care less if it is fixed, means nothing to me game wise, but I just started to really notice some battle results and some are a little skewed, [not sure if that is a correct word to use here] do hope that Hubert notices these little things along with I guess some other minor fixes, very good game.

Maybe its plane(s) that unsuccessfully attacked the Uboat crashed on return to the carrier. [sm=00000959.gif]

I've noticed this also. Air units take damage from attacking a Sub? Doesn't make sense to me?

Was the damage to the CV to the planes or to the ship, or both? I can see how it could be feasible for the sub to have damaged the planes a little - usually in WW2 planes attacked subs when they were on the surface, and it could take them a little while to dive when not prepared for it, so they were also armed with light AA guns (can subs in SC3 have their AA ability improved? I don't have the game immediately to hand to check)

I'm not sure? But I have had land based aircraft take damage?

According to this article subs had more success than I would have thought!

BillRunacre -> RE: Minor quirk (1/23/2017 7:09:57 PM)

Although Subs' air defence values are zero, there is a small chance of a casualty being inflicted on the air unit (or air component of a carrier) when it attacks.

James Taylor -> RE: Minor quirk (1/23/2017 11:52:57 PM)

You guys need to take a look at operational losses of aircraft in WW2, especially over water.

These horrific losses were much more than what occurred in combat.

Navigation mistakes, inclement weather, not to mention the mechanical malfunctions took a terrific toll.
