Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (4/5/2017 1:04:13 PM)

GetAssista, a few more clarifications on what I do at Fusan.

I ship supplies into Fusan. I also ship troops out. Plus fuel. Hence the naval support squads.

Oil shipped out of Fusan goes to Shimoneski which gets a slight bonus for oil handling.

I disagree vehemently about the fuel not being a concern. You can use xakl, but you will save tons of fuel over the course of the game by using Adens and Limas.

Daigen xakl uses 4.36 fuel a hex and has a cargo capacity of 1074.

Kasu D xakl uses 3.01 fuel a hex and has a cargo capacity of 1181.

Miyati xakl uses 4.4 fuel a hex and has a cargo capacity of 1387.

Aden uses 4.88 fuel a hex and has a cargo capacity of 3195.

Lima uses 5.47 fuel a hex and has a cargo capacity of 4192.

This is the reduced cargo levels mod, but it holds for the standard cargo games as well.

Yeah yeah, I know the numbers ;)
This statement only holds if you have freely available pool of all the ship classes. I had other usages for my Adens and Limas, namely more-than-2-hexes routes. E.g. Aden serving Fusan plus 3 Daigens (eqivalent in load to 1 Aden) serving some 6-hex route is not a fuel efficient situation and them ships should be switched around.

Yeah, I hear you. I have done exactly the same thing more than once!

Oh, I wanted to add I tend to dump everything into China. Luzon, Singers, Palembang, Formosa, SRA.

By the way, I was not able to do the magic highway from Singers in that game so I dumped all oil/fuel and some res into CRB/HK for it to find the way further. And Fusan was not enough for all of the added stuff, I shipped liquids from Shanghai instead.

Are you able to transfer all the resources from China and Korea through Fusan. I think that you mentioned in your game against Tiemanj that you were able to. I have always wondered how you did this. I just can never seem to get enough going through the port, and when I try, they accumulate all over the place: every port with light industry. Of course, they love to accumulate at Port Arthur more than anywhere else. But I find that I have to run cargo ships from at least one port in China and at least 1 in Korea in addition to Fusan to keep the resource from piling up and to keep Honshu going.

There is hundreds of posts about this in my AAR with Tiemanj with great contributors (Pax, Alfred, Obvert, Lok, Spidery, and others).

Process is simple: Build the port. Give it naval support. Divide the destination port among two HI ports. Use multiple small task forces - 1-2 ships no more. Base as many ships as is humanly possible at Fusan. Build the draw from Fusan gradually adding a ship every day or so once the lower half of China is taken.

I used to avoid filling up from other bases, but you can do that too as long as it isn't a CS. You can jump start the movement by following the same procedure from Saigon, then Cam Ranh Bay, then Haiphong, then Hong Kong, then Fusan.

Ship fuel and oil anywhere from Cam Ranh Bay and east.

A lot depends upon what has happened previously in the game, port sizes, and most of all it takes time to teach the AI.

I don't worry at all about exceeding the docking limits....it doesn't seem important when there is a mass of single ship task forces...but there is no faster way to move tons of resources. If you ever read Mike Soli AAR with convoys of same ships picked for port size, docking constraints, and material handling levels then this is quite heretical.

Just keep adding Adens and Limas and follow the material flow on Tracker till you reach your objective. With such short trips you can use less efficient merchantmen if you want to.

Fuel is by far and away the quickest to get to flow. Resources next and oil last.

I don't bother to try and get anything to flow from Singers to the east, but that does happen to a degree.

You want to make the port big, and create a steady and growing demand. The AI will figure it out at some point.

Did you build Fusan to a size 8 port, like Getassista states? That must be it. I have never built it past size 6, and I have found that one size 6 port is just not enough. BTW, Getassista is right about naval support. You do not need it for resources or oil. Don't waste that valuable naval support.

Yep, max it out. I think it maybe the only port I really build. I can think of a few others but they normal only get a one point increase.

I am not wasting the naval support...I am using it.[:)]

You learn something new every day playing this game and reading the forums. Mystery solved. You guys build Fusan to size 8. How much supply does it use expanding to size 8 from 6, do you have any idea or estimation?

See this thread for base building.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2885601

Per the manual, 1 supply per 12 hours that an engineer squad (or equivalent, so 5 supply per 12 hours for e-vehicles) is involved in construction. Note that there are maximums on how many can be involved in construction, depending on things that are covered in the table in the linked thread.

So basically, 2 supply per engineer or equivalent per day.

Basically, for Fusan if it has an SPS of 5 for the port, it will cost 13600 engineer points (each 1 enginer = 1 point), so it will cost 27200 supplies. Apparently.

Thanks Loka. Saves me the trouble of searching for all that information and then doing math. I used to be very good at math, but I am old now.

Dec 20, 1941

Three waves of Dutch bombers hit Palembang at night. The Pete's intercept without intercepting, but spoil the Dutch aim, even when they are flying at 2000 feet.

No AA fire.

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (4/5/2017 10:42:17 PM)

This attack stopped easily in the morning. In the afternoon B17 fly high and avoid the Oscars hitting and starting some small fires that doesn't seem to destroy anything...yet.

I don't think the AA fired here either the animation zipped by. The B17s bomb from 15K...

After they leave, the radar and searchlights are ready to be unloaded from destroyers being used as fast transports. They should be ready for the night's bombing run.

Chengchow taken.

The Six Chinese corp at Sinyang don't attack. There is two division marching there from the south east, and a small unit moving in from the south west.

Meanwhile the race is on for the dirt road to Ankang. What do you want to bet the Flying Tigers are flying LRCAP over that Chinese unit?

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (4/6/2017 2:33:13 PM)

Incredible beauty in allowing the local Captains and Commanders to plot courses.

I will send two Sub Chasers into the expected sub infestation, and I also have some float planes flying out of Mersing now.

Palembang has 70 Nells flying naval search and they just barely reach Soerabaja...which is an extremely important port now -- it can rearm Force Z.

It is hard to tell the hexes. It is very hard to see political borders.

At least for me....so I am mixed/

This, and it just feels like I'm looking at it through sunglasses the entire time. everything is muted and darker. I prefer the stock map.

The brightest with these colors is below. With base comparison.

Other maps, too many for here, are multiple layers of the map set at differ colors. Gives a different look.
