January 21, 1942 The Eastern Front The Red Army counter-offensive into German territory (annexed Lithuania) is a very telling display of the current Soviet morale. The Soviets continue to send more troops to the front line then the Axis have been able to destroy. Meanwhile the Romanians, who have since been reinforced by Germans, continue their winter stalemate in Bessarabia. German Army Group Center and South have had limited success, but neither Kiev or Smolensk have been captured. The Soviets begin 1942 in very high spirits indeed! North Africa While Italian North Africa is completely under British occupation, the Axis are still in control of former French territory (Tunisia, Algeria) and hold Gibraltar. Remnants of the DAK and an Italian Army Group have established themselves along the Mareth Line in Tunisia. Could a decisive battle be on the horizon, or will the Axis fight for every inch of former French territory? The Atlantic The Royal Navy has suffered heavy losses thus far in the war, in large part due to an Axis decisive victory in the English Channel as the British attempted to defend against Sealion. German U-boats have since taken advantage in the Atlantic, raiding our convoy lines at will. We hope that 1942 will see a change of fortune in favor of the Allies and put an end to Germany's "Happy Time" in the Atlantic. Sealion The Axis invasion of Britain has been costly for both sides. Germany has reinforced the tight front with a much stronger assault force then the original invasion but now American soldiers fight side-by-side with the British, Canadian and Free French to push the invaders back into the Sea. The Allies will soon find out the limits of German resolve to capture London. [image]local://upfiles/46995/67D64DF006C9440CA836D93E397D057B.jpg[/image]
