The best way I've found is to change the WRA for air to air missiles and aircraft guns to "do not engage with this weapon" for "guided weapons." If there's no weapon they can engage with they'll ignore them. You can also focus on whatever else you want them to head after (e.g. bombers, fighters, etc). The nice thing about this is you can sculpt it by mission. You might want to use your CAPs against cruise missiles but ignore them with strike missions. Similarly, you might want your strike missions to ignore enemy bombers or ISR aircraft and focus on fighters. WRA lets you get smart about that kind of thing. I typically start at the side level, and then work my way down to get the behavior I want for each mission. If you use the "weapons safe" setting, they'll engage but not shoot unless you tell them to. Shot doctrine is one of the most important settings in the game, in my opinion. quote:
ORIGINAL: neno How can I prevent fighters on Combat Air Patrol mission to chase after missiles, namely cruise or anti-ship missiles clearly identified as such? I know I can prevent them shooting at the missiles via doctrines, but how to tell the fighters to ignore them?
