Yes I do and I'm using them all over the place up and down the map. My
problem what that is that the ships accumulate a lot of minor damage
on even the shortest trip somewhere and I'm a perfectionist and HAVE to
repair all damage of any kind at every opportunity just to keep the
ships in tippy-top shape, give them every advantage I can to fight this
war.

Big efforts, sir.

Even for a 4-7 sys and 1 minor engine damage points only on freighters?

You are correct that my repair policy has a lot of slack in it and it really
does depend on the ship and mission it has to perform. I've heard from AAR's,
or at least one specific AAR, the name of which escapes me at the moment,
but the rule of thumb is allow the minor damge to accumulate until it effects
the mission in some way, like if it lowers the speed or something. But I'd
expect that to result in a longer, sometimes much longer, stay in the yards.
I'd rather just take the ship out of commission long enough to fix the damage
overnight and be done with it. One day service and we change the oil. It's
a lot of work and I don't always look through the list of ships trying to find
those broken ones that are in port and can be repaired now.

The way it's been going for Brian and I is I usually get Brian's moves between
morning and noon and I try to get my moves back to him by about 4:00 pm my
time so that he can return it to me by about 6:30 or 7:00 pm my time. And
I get to keep it overnight so I can check more stuff and tinker a lot more.
I find a lot of things by just tinkering. By taking a look at the TF's each
turn I usually find one TF that says "do not unload" and change it. That
kind of thing.

Edit: I just now calculated that I post about 6.6 posts per day on average:

About a week ago now I neglected to adjust the troop transports to not load supply when loading the troops and
several TF's loaded all the supply Tokyo had almost and the supply level had been really low for several days
in a row but it appears that the crisis is over because the supply trend is upwards.

Here's the aircraft and engine report for 9Jan42. I'm getting closer to the magic number of engines for the
Ha-5/1000 and I'll need to turn down production to just maintain about 505 engines and I don't suspect that
I'll have to expand the factories any more because production is doing just fine.

What the Ha-5/1000 is needded for here?

Here's what's going on under the hood: I'm building multiple aircraft that use that engine and I'm thinking
I'm going to need that model of engine for most of the game so it wouldn't hurt to make a lot of them now to
get the engine bonus. Cool? I like to use the economy of scale to help bring the cost down. Other engines
may have a similar situation. I'll take a look around.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/22/2017 6:56:11 PM)

I put a couple of AK's into the shipyard and now the yards are full. No room for a third ship. That's not a
really good thing. So I thought I'd at least double the size of the yards because I've already run into an
occasion when I need a bigger yard. And right now I'm thinking I can afford it.

Edit: I'm talking about Karor of course. The old name is Babeldoab. Code name: Bubble drop.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/22/2017 7:03:00 PM)

I had only 3 AS ships at the start of the conflict so I thought maybe I should make a couple more and I seem to
have gotten enthusiastic about it. I also made a boat-load of AKE's and now I need escorts for these bad boys
so I can park a couple of them at each of the main hubs and Rabaul and Balikpapan when I get that, etc.

[image]local://upfiles/16287/12F7C3A76B80404699C20F8172DA54C8.jpg[/image]

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/22/2017 7:09:28 PM)

I made about a dozen AG ships and I really think maybe I went overboard with making AKE's but I thought I'd
make enough for the entire war while I was at it. These bad boys will be parked all over the map where it
might be useful. Rabaul, Karor, Truk, Manado, Balikpapan*, Cam Ranh Bay, Hong Kong, etc.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/22/2017 7:16:10 PM)

I've already set up a route for a couple of tankers with escorts to go hit up Miri for some oil to bring it to
CRB and when I get enough for the bigger tankers to make up a load I take it to Pescadores and then tankers
there take it to Kagoshima. And it takes about two and a half weeks to show up in the home islands. I'm really
guessing but that's my educated estimate.

EDIT: Oh, and I wanted to mention that the rest of the LCU's that are left at CRB are those that are probably
going to stay there for a while. CRB needs a lot of engineers and at least a token garrison.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/22/2017 7:22:20 PM)

I didn't do any pre-attack bombardment at Miri when I captured the base. I just launched into DA's and it just
happened all of a sudden. I captured the facilities largely intact and I don't plan on expanding the LI or HI
but yes on the oil well.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/22/2017 7:26:08 PM)

There's about 11K of fuel at Miri already so I'm putting together a TF to go get most of it and bring it to CRB.
I'm using a TB as an escort because that's all that's left. Most of the other escorts are working the troop
transports from CRB to points west. I've got one TF headed for Balikpapan and it should land soon.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/22/2017 7:31:33 PM)

Here's the TF going to Balikpapan and it's getting closer. I've got a carrier group nearby and some subs but no
surface assets. D'oh. Last night one of the troop ships got nailed by a jap sub, he's still in the hex, and
I'm driving right over him to get to B's port. I saw a message about the TF saving 350 men from the water as the
ship sank. I'm bringing a whole division this time to make short work of the take down.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/22/2017 7:39:10 PM)

Here's a picture of the Celebes Sea right now. It's busy and there's traffic and I need to fly some planes in
when the airfield gets built in several places. I'm thinking Oscars and Nates for now. Maybe a Zero group
closer to Java and Palembang. Singkawang, say.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/23/2017 3:01:04 AM)

New moves from Brian. I'm looking through the Tracker data from the turn and I've run into a ship that
according to Tracker can do 55 knots for a maneuvor speed. I had no idea Japan had ships that could
sail that fast. I'm impressed.

[image]local://upfiles/16287/B106AE77B61F4FDB97F39FEF74039029.jpg[/image]

Yaab -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/23/2017 6:04:09 AM)

Maneuver speed is NOT knots. Find some Jap motor boat and its manuever rating should be in 80-90 range. The rating reflects ship's max speed, durability and tonnage.

Oh. Okay. I just saw the word speed and thought in knots. Why don't they call it something else besides
a "speed".

Night glasses....I assume are there ony for the chrome.

(what are night glasses?)

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/23/2017 10:04:16 AM)

Night glasses is another word for sunglasses I guess.

adarbrauner -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/23/2017 11:12:08 AM)

It's for sure an optical device optimized for night use.

Just what?

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/23/2017 2:08:49 PM)

I googled night glasses and got this:

Edit: They probably cost a nickel apiece to make.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/24/2017 12:57:28 AM)

I just now got some new moves from Brian. I volunteered to abandon the game
if he saw fit and he said he wants to keep going. What a trooper. He's doing
his moves despite the pain. Plus, he's a pretty good WITP-AE player

I'm still watching the combat replay and there was a big furball over Heng
Yang north of Canton, China. I've been pulling the best reserve pilots into
the squadrons and here's a case where it's paid off handsomely.

EDIT: I keep editing the post to get the picture to show but the system can't
figure it out or it's garbled or something else entirely is wrong. Sorry
about that.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/24/2017 1:17:37 AM)

Thank goodness that the name for Balikpapan didn't change with RHS. Anyway, I just now captured it and it looks like there was severe damage on the facilities
but I think maybe I can fix most of it. Look at the size of that oil well. I might be able to take advantage of that. I'll start rounding up some tankers
for the oil trips I'm going to make. I'll first take the oil to Karor ( Babeldoab ) and from there it'll go to probably Hiroshima or Kobe. And then back to
Balikpapan by the senic route.

I've got to capture a lot of the airfields around Balikpapan just to keep some CAP going on the routes to and from Balikpapan. Some top cover. That means
I'll have to think about the northern edge of the route and that includes Zamboanga and Davao.

So now you have the fuel for your fleet but no more than. At least this is the situation in "stock". Here but, the refnireies size is smaller- if i'm not wrong but I could.

In normal stock I'd repair them for sure. Here it may depnds on your supply generation.

Yeah, you're right. It's still Jan. of '42 and I'm already running low on
supplies in the home islands. I turned off the expansion of ports and
airfields and also the repairs on the industry facilities. The supply level
is finally on it's way back up. Tokyo has 27K of supply now. That was
close.

I just now got Balikpapan and I'm still pounding Singapore and Manila and
neither one is going to fall anytime soon so I'll concentrate on the attempt
on Palembang and play the rest by ear, with the supplies so uncertain and
everything.

But are them original, this is the question.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/25/2017 2:06:23 PM)

I received some new moves from Brian a few minutes ago and I watched the combat replay and went through the
Combat Reporter data and now I'm just about to look at the Tracker data but I thought you'd like to see how
many PP's I have. I'm swimming in them. I'm thinking of buying out the Manchurian Garrison and using them
in China or something. The Soviets are already active so there's no detrament to doing so.
