Either I shipped out my HQ unit at Karor or there just was never one there. Either way I need one there. I'll
take a look around and see what's available and ship the best suited one here. I'm going to need some AF dudes
and TT's from the HQ.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/31/2017 3:50:26 PM)

The TF that did the night naval bombardment on Port Moresby last night is on it's way to Rabaul to rearm, refuel,
and refit a little bit, say overnight. So naturally I took a look at Rabaul and I'm not at all sure the BB's
will rearm at Rabaul and I thought maybe an AKE might help things along so I'm sending two AKE's and an AD from
Truk to Rabaul and it should arrive there in a few days. If I ever take Port Moresby I'll move one of the AKE's
to Port Moresby.

Here's the ship production right now. I've halted the building of several dozen ships of both Naval and
Merch categories because I don't think the war is going to last much longer than the early days of '45 so
every ship after about May of '45 I've stopped building.

Here's the strategic situation. I'm still swimming in PP's.

ny59giants -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/31/2017 5:21:53 PM)

I see 13 CVs that CAN BE built. You are only building 4. WHY?!?

I'm at 1750 in Naval Shipyard points in my game. You are way behind. The cost to expand is a one time cost of HI and then supplies to expand and repair. In RHS, you generate excessive HI, so you can afford to expand. The only restrictions you have is supplies.

Points are based on "Durability." Most of your CVs cost 65. However, you can "Accelerate" them at a cost. Any ship with a "0" in the "Can Accel" column means you can do so. Any ship with (-) negative in front number in "Start Build" means it is actually building unless you "Halted" it.

Accelerating a ship: Normal cost is 3x the Durability in points. Take CV Amagi as example as its the closest to actual begin using points in 285 days. If you go over to "Calc BR" column and change "Normal" to "Accel" it will show that next turn it will cost you 65 points. If you actually go into game files and Accelerate her, next turn when you load Tracker the "Start Build" column will change by 2 to 283. So, for over 140 days it will cost you just 65 points to work on her and bring her forward 140 plus days. Now comes the tricky part. Once the "Start Build" column goes to a (-) negative number, the cost triples to 195 per day. I often go back to "Normal" but maybe a ship close to completion gets that extra effort and cost. Does all this make sense, Larry??

So I would be expanding your Naval Shipbuilding steadily up to 1700, for now. We can revisit things then.

Next time you post this, filter "Shipyard" from All to Naval. [;)]

According to this picture of the Tracker page [see image below, scroll
down ] for Ship Production and filtered for "Naval" and the class just
carriers and that means this list is all of them and five are being
built and some are halted because they fall in the late-war period
that I don't think is going to happen. I don't need those ships
because I'm going to lose sometime in late '44. Or so. But thanks,
this examination has revealed one ship in the later years of the war
that I missed somehow and need to halt it.

Yes, the problemo is supplies. There's not enough to get over the
10K limits and get the expansion going. I've got stockpiling turned
on and the required supplies is over 4K in each case but ....
I think what happened is that I tried to expand too many ports and
airfields at one time and it killed the amount of supplies that are
at the individual places where there's a problem with supply which is
a lot of places evidently.

Oh. Cool. I had no idea. I'm just playing this game by the seat of my
pants. No experience in the Navy, never sailed a boat, etc.

Yeah, crystal clear, and thanks for the info. I'll plan ahead and accellerate
just those bad boys that are within days of completion. Sounds good to me.

I've been reviewing the shipyards ( of all three kinds, Nav, Merch, and Repair )
and monitoring what the supply level at the base is and if it's over 10K
then I make doubly sure that the repair label is yes. Each turn.

EDIT: Well, maybe not EVERY turn but probably every other turn at least.

I'll do it. Actually, I'll probably forget, lemme do a special trip and
post another before I forget. I mean besides the image in this post.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/31/2017 6:10:01 PM)

I made a special effort to produce this. It's a list of what's coming out of the shipyards next. In the order of
spawning date. I see according to the picture that I had already accellerated the next couple of ships out of the
slips.

EDIT: Also, last time I checkec Hailar is landlocked in Manchuria or somewhere. If these ships are going to
appear there, then there might be a problemo. For each of them. Do I need to alert Sid?

Sort by “Build Points” so I can see what you are actually spending points on.

For Class I need ALL. Right now you show too few ships.

EDIT: See my AAR and last posting as example of what I need.

ny59giants -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/31/2017 9:26:56 PM)

So look at cost of subs vs CVs. Some cost the same while others are two subs for a CV. What are you going to build?
You have to find a balance between warships vs subs.

Like so much of the game I was content to just let the system build whatever is scheduled. I guess I should give it
more thought. Thanks for the heads up.

ny59giants -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (10/31/2017 10:55:32 PM)

1) Halt all subs
2) Next turn, start building a few CVs
3) Go through all Naval over the next few days and make decisions

Hit the "B" button to bring up ALL bases. Turn off expansion of ALL bases (bottom row to right). Watch supplies increase across the board over next few days. [:)] Slowly restart just the critical expansions, but not too mnay.

Sounds like good advice. I'll see what I can do about it all. Thanks for your guidance. I'm trying to provide Brian
with a good game and my last four attempts ( restarts ) were lame but Brian tells me I'm doing better than I was so that's
something.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 12:18:19 AM)

Here's me stopping all sub production. That's providing a lot of points for something else.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 12:24:22 AM)

Here's me making sure that all the CV's that I'm going to build are building. There's a lot of them turned off
because they arrive after the cut-off date for my ship arrival policy which is the game isn't going to last much
past about May of '45 because Brian is going to win or the supplies are going to run out whichever occurs first.
This might be a short war depending on the economy. I've almost killed it by trying to expand too much too early.
But I think we're past the worst part of that and the supply level is slowly increasing in Honshu.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 12:33:28 AM)

New moves from Brian: I received them about 16:10 and he's going to let me keep the moves overnight again so I can
check a lot more stuff and report about it here. For instance Miri is going for a level 6 airfield even though
the level 5 airfield is perfectly fine for what I need it for. But I've got the supplies handy and a level 6 is
possible at the normal cost rate so I thought I'd go for it. The port is already a 3 but it CAN go as high as 4
if need be. I'm not sure the need is there for a level 4 port however. I'm strange that way. The oil and fuel
levels at Miri are climbing slowly.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 12:46:42 AM)

Honshu gained 8K in supplies in just one day yesterday. That's about what it's been doing for a while now.
Supplies are hard to come by in RHS for the Japs. That and fuel.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 1:07:46 AM)

Here's the list of ships coming out of the slipways soon ( ship production ) but it's old data since I've
cancelled the building of any subs since this picture was made. I'll have a cleaner picture tomorrow.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 1:31:06 AM)

I sorted the Naval ships according to arrival date and this is the results. I don't know if I'm going to need
any MTB's or MGB's but I'm counting on the SC's to make good escorts. I've cancelled all the subs and now I've
got Naval points to burn. I've started the accelleration on several ships but for the most part it's all done
for a while.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 1:39:43 AM)

I attacked the port at Macao and sank some ships that happened to be in the harbor. I need to do that again to
get the rest of them.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 1:43:01 AM)

That engine listed at the top of the list, there's over 500+ of them so I'm going to trim production back a bit.

According to your screenshot (WITP Chart) on Jan 15th, you have 4.4M in supply (that's 1M more than I have!). Where is the shortage?? [&:][&:] If you have shortage in Japan, that means you are expanding too much (bases, industry, and/or shipping out). The biggest issue you have is Oil. I hope you are repairing those that are damaged.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 1:48:28 AM)

Here's me turning off the production of the Nikajima Ha-5/1000 temporarily to see how it effects the pool levels.

BillBrown -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 1:48:59 AM)

You need to sort out your region file. You show over 500,000 supply at "unknown region" where is that? It is hard to do well if your information/data is suspect/bad.

Bu the way, I see you have a number of bases with stockpile set on for supply and fuel. You should never have to set stockpiles, it should be very rare to set any, let alone many of your bases.

Here's all the things I'm repairing right now. Notice that most of them aren't in the home islands. I've already
expanded all the stuff that needs expanding in the home islands, that's why there was a supply problem. But now
the levels are going up and I can expand again. And yes, the oil wells at Miri, Brunei, and Balikpapan are being
repaired as we speak.

I'll post another WITP Chart so we can see what's going on right now.

I got my region file from Yaab and he warned me that there were a lot of places that don't have the right region
yet. I'll get around to fixing that someday.

EDIT: I'm checking the cities every turn to see who needs to be turned off. I've noticed that the levels rise
faster with stockpiling on. But when I get to the magic level ( 10K+)) I turn it off again. But I can see how
just setting the "required supplies" level correctly will eventually get the job done too.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 2:23:48 AM)

Here's the latest Tracker WITP Chart and I'm concerned about the number of pilots. I used to have about twice
that many. Well, maybe not twice that many but over 6K+ pilots at the start IIRC.

larryfulkerson -> RE: RHS II scen 129 GP and me (11/1/2017 5:43:39 AM)

BB Hyuga came out of the repair yards last night and now needs escorts to get back into the war. But Hong Kong's
port is still too small to rearm the BB. Until the AKE's arrive at Hong Kong I'll have to try Pescadores's port
until I find one that will rearm it. There's always the ports in the home islands if nowhere else.

On the other hand most of the damage at Hong Kong has been repaired and it's struggling to get some supply. I'm
shipping in some from Takao.
