There can be rather large plane factory in China....sad to say.

Where is that sad puppy?

Not in China, in stock anyway - but in Manchukuo - at Harbin. I am not aware of any others outside Japan.

Oh, that's well protected by location then.

witpqs -> RE: 1944 December 09 (8/18/2021 3:11:07 AM)

I've got all the Home Island locations entered (not small islands with no production of any kind) so all I have to do is add factories for cities as we get recon and update others from time to time.

Updated totals below. We got good recon on Tsu, but Maebashi is still a black hole. Of course there are others which are not yet on the recon list.

Maebashi does have a few aircraft factories.

About 452. I just don't know what they are. I probably had recon of them but didn't take a pic or write it down, but at least going forward I'll have a rough log of recon.

If I rightly remember it, the A6M2 starts there and then there other were factories including research factories. Not a lot if any manpower if I recall that correctly as well.

These are only identified generically as "aircraft factory" by faded recon.

• There is an E and AO at Batavia. We are sending 2x DD to get them, but that will take two days.

• We are sending a group of DM to mine the entrance to Palembang, and the carriers will cover them on their close approach and withdrawal. The objective is to impede Imperial movement of ground forces to Singapore from Palembang.

• Samarinda is repaired and the engineers are moving to Balikpapan to repair the base there. Supplies are being brought in to get oil production at Samarinda up to full capacity. Production at Balikpapan is already 100%.

I did mean the plane facility at Harbin, and wasn't precise when I said China. Sorry.[8|]

Anyway, I usually like to make that a big Frank factory as it is pretty safe until mid 1945* (most times![:D]). When I say big, I mean around 200 points I recall.

One thing to check is to see if Japan is repairing any factory...that could help you prioritize what to target.

Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Chichi-jima

• The hunter became the hunted: our small SCTF was intercepted on the way back to Iwo-jima. CL Phoenix is in OK shape but will need a bit of yard time.

• We have a CA, CL, +DD's SCTF leaving Iwo-jima to try and catch Mogami. They will make a high speed run.

• The Haha-jima invasion landed well, but the fortifications are much stronger than anticipated. The troops will rest for several days before beginning assaults to break through. Meanwhile, we will work up to a rotation of daily naval bombardments. The units are well supplied, and are already taking replacements. A good deal more supply will unload over the coming days.

• Clean up continues on Chichi-jima.

• Tomorrow 3 squadrons of P-51D will sweep Kanoya. 122 fighters seen there by recon.

witpqs -> RE: 1944 December 11 (8/19/2021 1:48:57 AM)

1944 December 11

Agrihan is full of 4E recon aircraft. If 2 more come ready without others going into maintenance the aircraft stack level for the base will be exceeded. Does anybody know if that limit cuts in half recon flights the way it cuts in half other types of mission (such as strikes)?

[image]local://upfiles/14248/D5203F081A6C440A858AAE9826B65BF3.jpg[/image]

BBfanboy -> RE: 1944 December 11 (8/19/2021 2:33:49 AM)

Shouldn't matter - IME only two recon aircraft from each assigned group/partial group will fly the mission - one morning and one afternoon. Check your pilot mission stats before and after the turn to see.

Nomad -> RE: 1944 December 11 (8/19/2021 3:35:18 AM)

If you look at it, the stack level of 244 is 61 4 engine aircraft. That is the total of all the ready and damaged aircraft at the base.
There will be no change if some are repaired.

Thanks. I know that aircraft stood count count partial and I thought aircraft not ready counted partial too. I never even bothered to check the tally.

• Tonight we will have land based Black Widows over the convoys at Haha-jima.

• Salt Lake City is utterly wrecked, heavy inflamed, and without escort. We'll see if she makes it. Honolulu and Laffey II need some yard time but will make their way back fine. Oddly enough the Kamikaze strikes came from the same airfield we swept with fighters. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Franks make some of the best Kamikazes...because they are fast enough and armored...

On the plus side, Japan might be slightly weaker defensively in the air that is two full squadrons as Kamikazes.

For purposes of that spreadsheet I just started using to keep better track of strategic target recon:

Do I understand correctly that a player can change what a factory is, but a player cannot add or delete factories?

For example, if the game starts with 6 aircraft factories in Tokyo, regardless of what and how many they are producing, that game will always have 6 aircraft factories in Tokyo, but the player might change what they produce and/or expand them, and the size of the factory might become damaged or destroyed?

Same example with engine factories?

Same example with naval and merchant shipyards (if I understand correctly, a repair shipyard is always a repair shipyard)?

And other types of industry can only be expanded, damaged, or destroyed?

Yes

Yes

Naval and Merchant can be switched. Repair shipyards can be enlarged.

And other types of industry can only be expanded, damaged, or destroyed?

Armaments and Vehicles can be switched as well as expanded.
