larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/29/2017 3:39:19 AM)

I got to looking at the units to see if any are anomolous and found this situation in the 7th Panzer Division. There's
a unit that I might get depending on an event. So I guess right off the top of my head, I need to go find it's entry
point and look around to see if there's a way I can influence that event. Like taking a certain location or something.
I'll let you know what it was as soon as I find out myself.

I think Liepzig is a German town and I have no clue what the event trigger is to get an extra unit to appear there.
Maybe I have to be loosing or something. Like that's going to happen.

Hi Larry
You get that unit in 1943 when you withdraw the 1941 Panzer Division and receive the 1943 Panzer Division with the new tanks. It is a theater option that will appear.

Hey there Ricki dude. Thanks for the info....I'll quit worrying now. Good to know.

I found a time-line of the war in Europe but I have't found the comings and goings of the various divisions yet. I'll
just trust you guys and your work. Better than I would have done I'm sure.

I love your scenario. It's almost my favorite, with a close second: D21. My first love is the Pacific At War cenario.
Hey Thomas Harvey just released the PO versions of several of his scenarios......now we can play with the ships and
spotter planes and DD's and stuff. WITP-AE players might find it interesting especially.

But when I'm not playing PAW I'm doing my best in D21. I got to turn 63 one time before beta team duties interrupted.

I really like to do this workshop for the guys. I wish I had a workshop to look at when I was learning.

Anyway, thanks for your hard work and patience and dilligence. Especially your Dilligence.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 4:36:56 AM)

Here's the area in the NW corner of the front lines. It's between Riga and Pskov. I'm wondering what would happen if I
skip going to Leningrad and just move on Moscow first. I think I'll try that.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 4:47:11 AM)

I'm starting to push units across the Dneper river into Soviet territory. Resistance is light so far.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 5:11:15 AM)

It's looking like the Soviets have turned the Kiev area into a fortres with lots of unit and a defensive river to hide
behind. It's going to take a small tactical nuclear weapon to clear all that out.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 5:54:48 AM)

And way down in the SW corner of the front lines I've finally gotten across the Dneiper River and I'm on the same side as
Odessa and the siege can begin. I'm moving a lot of arty to near Odessa to help pound the defenders into quitting.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 6:18:25 AM)

Here's the Leningrad area right now. As you can see there's a lot of Finns that aren't active yet. I hope they are soon.
I need to start shooting and pushing and shoving.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 6:23:10 AM)

I just launched a strike on the Russian BB sitting near Leningrad and my Stuka's went in almost unescorted, no escort
except for the Finns, and took heavy losses and so I naturally, wondered how we're doing on Stuka's and I see where
I'm making 12 each turn but have only 11 on hand. That means I'm getting them shot down faster than I'm building them.
Slightly faster. So I need to go easy on the Stuka's for a while until I get a lot more on hand.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 6:55:05 AM)

Here's the Pskov area right now and as you can see I need more warm bodies. There's not enough units to fill in the gaps
in the front lines up here. I'm going to see if I can't find at least one more division somewhere to rail up here to
help take up the slack.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 6:59:40 AM)

Here's the supply situation near Pskov and as you can see it's almost adequate at the front lines. I'm pushing the
envelope trying to attack in such conditions, but the Soviets are so disorganized and weak right now it's a shame
not to try to take advantage of the shock difference and the disorganization. The German units can rest when they
need to and everything will work out in the end.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (11/30/2017 7:18:03 AM)

Zoom out and look at the area a little south of the middle and there's an area that has no built up rail lines and the
supply level is single digits and too low for sustained operations. I have to do something about it if the war is
going to go on in this area.

Here's the front lines in T9 before I've moved anybody.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/1/2017 6:11:06 AM)

I defeated the Soviet defender at Zhlobin and all of a sudden we had a river crossing intact and ready to go. So I drove
as many of my troops across it as possible and now I need some more troops to follow up on this boon. I need another
three divisions to rush across the bridge and set up a perimeter for defense to get ready for offensive action in later
turns.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/1/2017 6:19:38 AM)

Here's the face of war at Pskov right now. The Axis units arrived piecemeal and there's several formations represented
here and it's ad hoc. I'm holding my own but the progress in this area is stymied. Tough Soviet resistance and the
Soviets are counter-attacking already. They weren't supposed to start that until turn 10 but here they are already.
The character of the game is changing. It used to be slash and dash and moving very fast and surrounding Soviet units
and lots of progress but now we're fighting it out in urban areas, street by street.

Thanks for giving me your best regards. It would have sufficed for just regular regards. Or minor regards,
those are good too. Sometimes I just get regards from my readers. Some of them wish me a good day. I
appreciate all of it. It's a game I'm playing and writing about it at the same time. That's pretty much it.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/1/2017 6:44:23 AM)

So um......I'm still attacking into a very poor supply situation but I wanted to get across the big river before the
advance comes to a complete halt. If I wait until I have better supply the Soviets will increase their defenfenses
with more units and improved entrenchements. I'm hoping it's a little easier this way. The troops will have to be
rotated back for rest and refit a few at a time. This is going to be a long war.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/1/2017 7:41:07 AM)

Here's a Panzer unit that has seen better days. They are low on fuel, bullets, beans, and bandaids. They need a refit
and some rest. I'll send them to the rear to refit when the situation allows it.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/1/2017 12:55:33 PM)

Here's a shot showing how close the front lines are getting to Kiev already. You can see how I'm surrounding the Soviet
formations and leaving no remnants in my backfield. The Panzers are getting tired and are going to need a rest soon.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/1/2017 10:37:32 PM)

In this shot you can see how I'm getting units across the Dneper River pretty well and except for the supply situation
I would keep going east.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/1/2017 11:18:27 PM)

Front lines in turn 10. I've got a couple of line infantry units, Soviet units, behind my lines. They spawned there
in the Soviet turn. So I've got to chase them down and kill them before too long. They can damage the rails and
blow bridges so I really need to look into it.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/1/2017 11:56:34 PM)

This is the T10 face of Pskov now before I've moved anybody. I've got two Panzer formations there battling for the
river crossing and Soviet resistance is pretty moderate. Fairly moderate. Heavily Moderate. Impassible is Heavy
resistance. That's the theory. So I'm beating my head against the wall here. I've decided to go around and come
at them from the east and isolate them and THEN try to take them down.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/2/2017 12:04:52 AM)

There's not much in the NW corner of the front lines but then there's not much threat active nearby. Maybe this sector
will stay quiet.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/2/2017 6:49:51 AM)

Here's what's going on around Odessa. The siege has started without the arty park being assembled yet. I want to be
backed up by a lot of arty when I attempt to take down Odessa because that place can be a fortress at times.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/2/2017 7:36:03 AM)

Here's some of the losses so far. I'm amazed at how many of my bombers are downed already. I'm going to one-dots
with them. Fighers losses are light even though I'm flying them at three-dots. Scouts have taken some hits in the
half-track department. Tank losses are light. So far so good.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/2/2017 10:17:59 AM)

Here's the T11 face of Pskov. I've opened up a sort of hole in the Soviet lines and I intend to try to isolate the
Pskov defenders and gain the town. I've determined that I'm going to skip going to Leningrad this time and just
concentrate on gaining Moscow first and THEN spreading out on the map and conquer stuff.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21) (12/2/2017 10:30:04 AM)

I'm creeping up on Smolensk from the west. The supply level is too low for me to go for it right now. I'm hoping the
supply level will steadily rise since the rails are always being built in this direction.
