ORIGINAL: emsoy Okay good. Lets see if I got this straight: What would help you is this: * Ability to add new units * Ability to update (visible) stats on existing units * Transfer changes between scenarios * Make changes centrally * Change and make new loadouts Then you would: * Write and maintain documentation for minimum 10 years * Handle user support * Maintain 3rd party contributions * Update 3rd party datasets as database updates (i.e. changes made in DB makes 3rd party contribution unnecessary, etc) Hello, Ragnar! Do not complicate everything. I, like many experienced players, do not need any support or documentation. We'll figure it out for ourselves. And we do not need centralization. Just give us the editor and leave it without support. As it is done in all simulators and strategies. The editor and the databases will perfectly evolve without support. Stop trying to control everything. This is not DB2000, but an independent game. And most of the players will cope without you. And many experienced players dont want to participate in the development of DB3000, and do not want to depend on you, but want to live on their own. We dont need version compatibility. We dont need help. We dont need support. We dont need anything. quote:
As for my English skills... Tone etc is very difficult to get right and usually takes years of practice. I'm still learning and screw up on a regular basis. Translating directly makes makes it sound staccato and downright Nazi. The fact that I got an 'engineer' rather than 'language' brain doesn't help hehe. From where I stand you sound really angry and upset, ready to shoot the place up. But is that really the case? Huh... This is a huge disappointment! You created a serious wargame and simulator, but you forgot about the main feature of these games - the editor of units and databases. There is an editor in TOAW, there is an editor in Harpoon, there is an editor in DCS, there is an editor in FSX. This is the industry standard. But you forgot about it. [:-] And the whole projects of centralized database editing always ends very badly - they are slow, low-quality, they have errors and so on. And most importantly, they do not have customization and individualization! Again. You just do not understand serious part of your experienced customers. We dont need centralized databases and we will not take part in these projects. Centralized bases are secondary. Customization is primary. [;)]
