As the action rolled on by I got the very distinct feeling that the IJN wasnt having a particularly impressive day. By the time the two fleets disengaged every Japanese ship barring Mochizuki had broiling clouds smoke issuing from them. I had a bad feeling about how many ships would be in any condition to steam back to Rabaul. The Allied fleet on the other hand appeared to have feared rather well although some of their Light Cruisers were also throwing off decent smoke plumes. These Allied warships have been busy in the Dutch East Indies / Philippines and now in Australian waters. By days end I think a good number of the enemy warships are hurting and the prize (those troop ships) have been picked out again and delivered more pain. And what of the injured Japanese combatants? Isokaze is the only loss. The rest still float and make for a safe port. Damage stats follow.
