KEYSTONE0795 -> Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 5:40:31 PM)

Just installed 2.0 to my d drive. Changed the settings text file to:
Middle East=d:\Matrix Games\Campaign Series Middle East 2.0
Unit viewer not working. Any ideas?

Wampir -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 5:57:17 PM)

For me it is identical. Unit viewer does not work. Installation on disk d (D: \ Matrix Games \ Campaign Series Middle East 2.0

Crossroads -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 6:05:16 PM)

settings.txt is very peculiar there's no extra white space anywhere. But then again what you have there looks legit. Can you try copying the folder path from File Explorer as text, and pasting there? That's how I do it, but I have a complex install path to begin with.

KEYSTONE0795 -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 6:10:13 PM)

Crossroads,
I attempted what you suggested and get the same error:
Path to game not found.

Wampir -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 6:15:21 PM)

For me also without changes. Same error message.

KEYSTONE0795 -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 6:18:28 PM)

I found a way for it to work:

the settings path should be"

Middle East=D:\Matrix Games\Campaign Series Middle East

Take the 2.0 after Campaign Series Middle East out!!!!!!!!!!!

berto -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 6:20:43 PM)

Try removing the " 2.0". I had the same issue, and removing that fixed it.

Yes, it needs to be your exact install path copied to the settings.txt. Glad you were able to make it work, got me worried for a while [:)]

Great Minds Think Alike. [:)]

Wampir -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 6:28:04 PM)

After restarting game and entering the path in the txt setting file. Middle East = D: \ Matrix Games \ Campaign Series The Middle East Unit of Viewer works! [:)]

Oh that's right, the default I put to settings.txt has "2.0" in it, as I thought at the time that's how the install will name it. My bad, sorry about that guys!

NavalNewZ -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 10:16:18 PM)

Good job. I was just trying to figure this out as well. Thank you for providing the info.

scaz -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 10:32:20 PM)

Where is the "Settings.txt" file located? I can't seem to find it.

berto -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 10:35:58 PM)

It's located at: tools > CS_UnitViewer > settings.txt

scaz -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/18/2018 11:03:54 PM)

Thanks Berto.

Worked for me too.

Oberst_Klink -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/19/2018 5:26:15 AM)

For future reference... a screenshot to visualize it.

I am not being allowed to delete the '2.0" in the Settings text. It says I need admin rights but I can't do this task as administrator and when I delete 2.0 and try to save the change I am not allowed to do so.

Any suggestions? I like using the Unit Viewer!

Cheers Rich, that sounds like you installed the game in C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Campaign Series Middle East\ right?

What you can do - this is the easiest way I could figure out - is copy the settings.txt file from there to another location, edit it there, and copy it back. File Explorer will ask for Admin permissions to replace the file there, and once you click OK to that you should be good to go.

Let me know if this helped.

RichMunn -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/20/2018 8:52:10 AM)

Great quick response!

Oddly enough, though I have played JTCS for years, I have decided to play through all the bootcamps with the assistance of the manual to "brush up" and learn the new aspects of this game. Like a refresher course. Even Bootcamp 1 is useful! And the new graphics are great.

But on the point, I found that to my surprise the Unit Viewer is now working. Might that be Bootcamp specific? I hope not. I'll check by starting another scenario.

RichMunn -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/20/2018 8:55:27 AM)

Oops, daft error. It wasn't unit viewer!

I'll try what you suggest, as you were quite correct about the installation on C. Thanks. I'll let you know what happens.

Might not be a bad idea all, there's a lot of new unit types and capabilites compared to the JTCS of the old.

Once you've done Bootcamps, it might not be a bad idea to try the Teaching sets, especially 1973 and 1982, as they have new more modern weaponry, such as ATGMs.

All Teaching set scenarios include a Recce unit of a sort IIRC, handy for getting familiar with all the benefits of the new dynamic Recon rule [:)]

I had problems with event viewer also. Along with deleting the 2.0 on the end, the default path in the settings file was C: when i installed on D:, i changed those items and saved the settings file and it worked fine. Can't do without the viewer[;)]

Yes, unfortunately the installer does not know to fix that information. In the previous Arkady's Unit Viewers, it was possible to add "..\..\" for a logical path to game root, but this version requires an absolute path.

Johnus -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/26/2018 9:08:14 PM)

How do I get to the settings file? In the unit viewer my change path box is greyed out.

Crossroads -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/26/2018 9:21:26 PM)

Hello Johnus,

See post #16, you need to alter the settings.txt manually to make it work.

Johnus -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/26/2018 9:27:19 PM)

Got to the settings file, but I need the permission of an administrator. How do I do this? I'm the owner and only user of this computer. How do I log on as administrator? Windows 10. Thanks.

I question why all this is necessary. Couldn't the correct path have been included with the game?

It is of my making so apologies for that. I was assuming a standard installation path of Matrix Games in C-drive, and that there would be 2.0 in file name, as that was our suggestion. However the installer does what it does, so here we are.

As for your issue, it sounds you installed it at the suggested location as the installer does it, so in Programme Files (x86). Easiest way to alter the path is to copy the settings.txt say to your Documents folder, change the text there, and then copy over back to the where it was. File Explorer will ask for a permission to override the original file, accept that and you're fine.

If for any reason you decide to reinstall the game at some stage, I recommend C:/Matrix Games ... or something similar, and not Programme Files.

Johnus -> RE: Unit Viewer Not Working (1/27/2018 12:24:14 AM)

Crossroads: tried that several times without success. It keeps saying that I Need the approval of an administrator to change the file. How do I do that? I am the only owner and user of this computer.
