Willie is correct. As can be seen from the attached picture he is already broken the MLR that I was forming. He hit it with 8 tank and 3 Mech Inf brigades plus a couple of recon Regts. He is now only about 150kms from my last MLR and then he hits the Berlin defensive area. There is nothing to stop him now but his supply lines. If I do not cut and run my fear is that I will have nothing to hold the Berlin area with. But the speed those tanks are moving he may overrun my withdrawing units.

So from the last picture you see the tip of the Russian southern armour heading to Berlin it is a long way off, what you don't see is the central Russian armour[8|]

This is an overview of the entire front for turn 322. I am now in full retreat. Willie has went through my last defensive line without missing a step. The yellow circle

The Last MLR before Berlin is between 3 & 5 hexes deep. The front & 2nd line is entrenched to 100% with all units at 100%+ supply level.

With 78 turns to go for a draw I think I have Buckley's or none.

Lobster -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/15/2019 3:43:34 PM)

Soo...one point of the Soviet advances from 1943 on was to grab as much of Eastern Europe as possible before the Allies did. In that respect I would think Berlin should not be the only objective. The minor Axis capitals should also be on the list maybe? Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Yugoslavia. If Germany surrendered and there were no Soviet troops in the minor Axis countries the Soviets could not guarantee the Allies would not occupy them. And even if there were an agreement that the Soviets could 'have' Eastern Europe, Stalin would not trust the Western nations to adhere to that agreement. The Allies could easily occupy the Balkans via Italy. By allowing the Soviet player to ignore those countries they merely create a huge mass of forces and plow into any defense between them and Berlin. Seemingly at their leisure. Just my opinion.

StuccoFresco -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/16/2019 6:00:07 AM)

Seems like a good point.

Cfant -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/16/2019 11:11:33 AM)

It's not only this. From turn 1, SU-players often send the VVS to Sibiria, until the shock recovers. Or give up a lot of land, what would not have been possible because of political reasons. TOAW IV has no good way to implement political impacts. Even supply is a problem: ONE rail track could supply 100.000.000 men, no problem. :D So there are a lot of issues in a large scenario like this one.

Lobster -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/16/2019 3:43:26 PM)

A single track Soviet line could carry 24 trains per day and could supply a Soviet division equivalent of 100 to 150 divisions depending on how active the front was.

loveman2 -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/17/2019 1:21:12 PM)

Lobster I have at least 40 armies marching through the Balkan states, that is a mere fraction of the power the Russians can command, elsewhere huge armies head towards Berlin.

This is the overview of the south. I am only defending victory point locations. I simply do not have the forces to spare to defend everywhere. The small blue dots are units dropping all the bridges in an effort to impose some delay upon Willie.

fogger -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/21/2019 12:00:11 AM)

Willie has now made contact with the strongest point in my last MLR. The first 3 lines are at 150% supply and 100% readiness. The next 5 lines behind are all in the 90% range and improving. If Willie attacks here I am hoping for a 20 turn delay for him to fight his way through the area. He will then have to fight through the Berlin defensive area and I am now retaining my strongest units for that fight. He only has 74 turns left to win.

Willie is approx 250kms ahead of his rail heads. I am not sure how his supply levels are going and what effort that is having on his forces.

fogger -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/21/2019 1:04:19 PM)

The start of turn 326. Willie is bring his forces up to the front line and is advancing in the south. I am not sure if he will attack head on or try and flank me from the south. The 2 red arrows.

fogger -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/24/2019 6:21:47 AM)

The start of turn 327. Willie only has 73 turns left to win.

My current thinking is that Willie will attack on 4 axis's

1. Will be his main effort because he does not have to worry about casualties and it is the shortest route.

2. Attacking on route 2 will open up my northern flank and may draw forces away from the centre. How ever the terrain does assist my defence. Willies problem is that he does not know if one of those blue dots is a company or panzer division.

3&4 Attacking from the south and then the west. It is the longest way and as can been seen my defence in the Last MLR is not that thick. However I have used the last couple of turns start another line (red circle) and over the next couple of turns start on the red circle with lines in it.

StuccoFresco -> RE: FITE2 Fogger vs Loveman 1 (5/24/2019 2:28:31 PM)

Very likely. When you have an abundance of resources it's always better to engage the enemy in multiple points so they can't just focus all their defenses on a single axis.
