Hairog -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/18/2019 1:14:30 AM)

Sorry I'm out of ideas.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/18/2019 3:13:07 AM)

I don't use steam, but this sounds like there could be another 'Bitmaps\major_4' that is overriding what is supposed to be used. See if you can search your computer for 'Bitmaps\major_4' to see how many instances there are, and what location they are in. With that info we might be able to help.

Birdw -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/24/2019 8:52:04 PM)

I found the fix to the Soviet icons not switching. In addition to putting the Mod in the Bitmaps folder, it also needs to go in the 1939 Bitmaps folder as well. Works like a charm now.

Birdw -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/24/2019 8:54:18 PM)

Just add the modified files to the Bitmaps in the 1939 folder as well as the main 1939 folder. Problem fixed!

Hairog -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/26/2019 12:57:33 AM)

Depending on what campaign you're playing, this was the old way of getting mods operating. Before Hubert created the Mod Folder you had to put the bitmaps in every campaign folder you wanted to have modded.

Did this method work for all scenarios or just the 1939 one that you are trying to play?

Birdw -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/26/2019 2:43:44 PM)

I'm putting the Mods on a Steam Install. I don't believe the Mods folder is supported by Steam. At least I didn't see the folder in the local Steam files for the game. I don't think the Mod process was very well described either. I worked in IT the last 20 years (not coding mind you) and the process had me scratching my head. Really simple when I was pointed in the right direction.

Hairog -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/26/2019 9:08:05 PM)

What direction was that? What worked? Have you tried other campaigns or just the 1939?

Birdw -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/27/2019 12:32:46 PM)

Open up steam

open library

right click on SC WW2:WaW and chose properties

Choose local files

Browse local files

This opens up where the files are stored in Steam. I backed up the original files and replaced the bitmaps in the main bitmap folder, that replaces everything but the soviets. I had to open the 1939 Campaign and replace Major 4 there for the soviets to be switched. For some reason everything but the Soviets looks to the main bitmap folder, the soviets I had to drill down to the scenario and change it there. I have not tried this with other mods with the exception of the bleached map. The combination of bleached map and this mod go really well together.

Hairog -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (8/27/2019 5:39:21 PM)

Thanks for posting your solution...but I pretty sure you're not supposed to do this-----

replaced the bitmaps in the main bitmap folder

And it's great that you backed up the files.

I'm pretty sure that putting all the bitmaps in the particular campaign folder would have done it. You also had to edit the campaign.ini file to allow changes

#CUSTOM_BITMAPS= 1
#CUSTOM_INTERFACE= 1
#CUSTOM_SOUND= 1
#CUSTOM_MUSIC= 1
#CUSTOM_FONTS= 1
#CUSTOM_LOCALIZATION= 1

This had to be done for every campaign you wanted to have modded and to change mods you had to do it all again for that mod.
This is how it was done before the Mod folder.

We'll see if Hubert or Bill comment.

Trying to install WIE high res counter mod. What is SC3 Editor and where do I find it?

In a nutshell, the Editor allows the community to create scenarios beyond those provided in the purchased game.
If is found just below the Play War In Europe button on the startup screen.

The Editor is one of the best around and makes it possible to create some pretty interesting mods. Hubert and company did a great job with it. It really adds longevity to the game and allows for some amazing graphics.

GiveWarAchance -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (12/10/2019 12:36:43 AM)

Thank you for these sweet icons.
They make the game look immensely better and more immersive.

fulcrum28 -> RE: Time for a new counter MOD (2/23/2020 1:46:52 PM)

the version WW2 in colors does work well for WIE when installed in MODS but for WAW, i dont see any effect. I installed in MOD folder.

Manus von Olie -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (4/17/2020 8:40:55 PM)

Hi Christophe, thanks for the excellent counters and clear explanation. It makes the game so much nicer to play.

CaesarAug -> RE: High Res counter MOD (ready to download) (4/28/2020 8:35:28 PM)

I'm not sure if this has come up before, but I have noticed that the Japanese DN normal view counter does not show the Japanese Rising Sun flag, like it does for other ships.

There's room for the flag on the upper right, but it seems to have been overlooked. I did some quick editing to fix it on my end...

As far as I can tell, the DN counters for the other nations do show the respective national flag on the upper right. Just thought to mention it in the event of an update.

Thanks for an outstanding and beautiful counter set!!! [&o]

SIPRES, Yuo must be congratulated on your efforts. I absolutely loved your 2d counters which I installed via the Mods On/Off facility. Your mods in WaW really enliven the game.
Now trying to put your High Res Mods or/and "Another Counter Mod" into WiE using the Mods On/Off facility which presumably is different from the instructions you give in Post 123. I tried putting the Bitmap folder in the mods section but it does not work for the Russians.

edward77 -> RE: Time for a new counter MOD (10/6/2020 5:54:19 PM)

SIPRES, Please disregard that last posting. Finally found this excellent section which makes things a lot clearer for this fascinating game.
As I now understand it, the mod for WaW works perfectly using the ON/OFF Mod facility but for WiE the facility method omits the Russians?
To correct this we have to ALSO? follow the procedure of copying ANY? vanilla scenario, saving it then put the bitmap folder into it.
Does this then mean we have to repeat the procedure for all the other scenarios or only some?. It looks like some of the scenarios cannot be graphically modded eg WWIII and perhaps some of the others?

mssm45 -> RE: Time for a new counter MOD (11/19/2020 8:16:57 AM)

I love this mod and I copied all the mod files into the game original folder.

I am now playing the original Storm over Europe Campaign and it looks great ... except for Russia which are still Nato counters.

All other nations are displayed using the mod counters except Russia.

Any suggestions to make it also work for Russia using the original campaign?

High Res Counters Mod Not Working for Soviets for Steam: Solved:

Right Click Strategic Command WWII: World at War in your steam library
Select Properties
Select Local Files
Select Browse
Goto Campaigns
1939 World at War (or any campaign folder where you want to use the High Res Mod with the Soviets)
Goto Bitmaps
DELETE MAJOR_04 folder

If you are playing with the community mod pack mod Naval War Mod, you need to go to this separate campaign folder for the High Res Counters to work with Soviets:

For some reason with steam, it auto installs the override bitmap of "major_04" into each campaign, overwriting the Community Mod Pack High Res Counters

Right Click Strategic Command WWII: World at War in your steam library
Select Properties
Select Local Files
Select Browse
Goto "Community Pack" Folder
Goto Campaigns
Goto _1939 World at War Naval War Mod (or any campaign folder where you want to use the High Res Mod with the Soviets)
Goto Bitmaps
DELETE MAJOR_04 folder

Basically, DELETE MAJOR_04 folder in all campaign folders as this is causing the High Res Mod not to work with the Soviets. With steam, the communty pack is auto installed but the MAJOR_04 folder persists in each campaign folder, overwriting the High Res Mod with the default counters

If you are using the Naval War Mod (part of the steam community pack) remember you have to goto the "Community Pack" campaigns for the 1939 World at War Naval Mod folder and DELETE MAJOR_04 folder in the bitmaps folder of each campaign.

I was running around in circles because I forgot the 1939 World at War Naval War mod folder was in the community pack folder and not campaign folder.

Hope this helps

dickesKind -> RE: Time for a new counter MOD (2/13/2022 4:42:46 PM)

Hello,
I wanted to use this mod on the 1939 campaign. Works fine so far except for the Italian units which still use the old Nato counter.
What could I have done wrong? I followed the instructions from page 1.

Thanks you

Edit:
I accidentally used the 1.15 version.
I tried again with 1.16 and it works now :)

Could I also somehow activate this mod using the mod folder? I tried, but it did not work - the counters where still the old ones.
