Absolutely not. I play scenarios all over the place where an AMP wouldn't even come into use. On some scenarios, an AMP might help. If enjoyment of this game is based on there being an AMP, you might be playing the wrong game or not playing this one the right way.

Your play style - as revealed above - is to 'Save-Scum' through mission planning to ensure that you make everything work as you desired. That is time consuming - and based on my current stage in life I don't have a lot of time for playing computer games, much less hacking the game mechanics to get the desired behavior.

Yes, you can get through some missions without an AMP - by replacing that with a lot of manual work, micro-control, and repeated saves. But if you don't have time for that manual finesse, you can't play the complex missions. Instead of conceptualizing a plan and working out details, one spends time coaxing the game to do the simplest tasks.

Again, I would re-evaluate if this is the right game. The AMP isn't some magic app that does all of your planning. It helps somewhat, but if you can't spend the time planning, you're going to be disappointed.

You said exactly that the AMP is necessary to play this game. Go play "The Hunters". It would take more effort to use an AMP than just setting it up yourself. Prove me wrong that AMP is necessary.

I don't micromanage or save a lot. Don't need to. I plan and live with my mistakes. It does take a lot of time to micro. Thats why I don't do it. I tend to think people who like to micro want the AMP. They will let the AMP generate a plan and then spend as much time adjusting that plan as they would just building it from scratch with the mission builder. People who complain about having to micro tend to be people who like to micro and are always looking for that perfect tool to eliminate micro, yet will continue to do it. In this game, people who micro, like to micro. They choose scenarios where they want to micro.

Not saying an AMP wouldn't help in large scenarios, but its not necessary to play and enjoy the game.

I'm intrigued by the words and phrases that you use in your response to DrRansom. Your words are present tense, suggesting that you have either have/had access to AMP, or that you have actually seen AMP in action. Have you? That could go a long way toward supporting your comments as to why DrRansom would be disappointed in AMP's capabilities.

Additionally, thinking about it, your 'challenge' to DrRansom as to whether AMP is even "necessary" could really only be answered by someone who has some access to the product and then be able to actually comment on AMP's capabilities and limitations. I'm curious as to how you think that DrRansom would know that he is going to be "disappointed" if he hasn't seen AMP as of yet?

Since the game company isn't very forthcoming on this topic, do you have any insight as to what AMP can and can't do? Any 'inside info' would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If I had any, do you really think I would provide any? Really? If you go back far enough, there were posts and pictures and discussions on the ToT feature. Anyone can look it up. I am sure those plans have gone by the wayside as things have evolved.

Yes, if you actually had any insight at all, then I was genuinely hoping that for DrRansom's inquiry, and those of us with similar questions, that you could share whatever it is that you might know.

Your statements to DrRansom were declarative in nature, leading the reader to believe that you DO have some knowledge of things that you know about this topic, and are obviously not willing to share anything. Certainly, that is within your right to do so.

The only reason that I bring this up is that this topic has been bandied about for years, and there are many people (as evidenced by the recent inquiries about AMP) who would like to know something about this feature. In fact, every time that a "Wish List" is posted for this game, the AMP is always at the top of the list. So, I believe that this particular topic is probably the most sought after component that most people would like to have some information on.

And, that is the reason that I posed the question to you, since you obviously have some insight on the topic based on what you wrote, and the way that you worded it. But, it's obvious that you either can't or won't divulge anything other than what you have already stated.

Thanks anyway for responding.
