very Churchillian on delivering the Alexander HQ - ram the Tiger convoy right through the Med when things start to get tight in Egypt

a bit less Churchillian having the Wavell HQ lead that one attack; Winston would have insisted there be a motorized division included to absorb any needed losses, though his war didn't work the way WiF does. I bet he would have designated an Indian div, maybe a South African one.

I can't remember the exact year but I'd say it was sometime around the 6th grade (i.e., 1969-1970), when one of my classmates mention to our teacher that he saw an "old" picture of Winston Churchill holding up a peace sign. If it was the 6th grade then it would have been Mrs. Olgbee. Anyway, we were amazed ... peace sign in the 40's? We thought that was a recent invention (i.e., 1960's) of the hippies? That's when she informed us that he was flashing a "V" for victory and not a peace sign. True story. [8D]

Turn 8. Nov/Dec 1940. Axis #9. IJA Land Combat.

Wow, the axis took it on the chin this impulse. They're 3 for 3 in unfavorable results. This botched land combat by the IJA had a real chance of turning the southern flank of Chaing and his Nationalist Chinese. Not only do the Chinese Nationalist hold but they cause the destruction of three Japanese armies.

This is something I don't understand at all. If you look at the Chinese front, it becomes clear that the Chinese need to build aircraft. To do so, they need the US to choose the two options (1 and 17) allowing them to do so. With Germany about to declare war on Greece and Yugoslavia, it's perfectly sound to choose those two options at this moment. And if you get tension, that's pretty good, since option 34 needs tension to rise...

I've missed that opportunity for the next turn, as I've already drawn and have the tensions, but not entry level, required for 34(17). But after that options 1 & 17 will be my next considerations, after 34(17). For lend lease through don't I also need to reopen the Burma Road (option 24) too? And, if I do, can the Japanese close the road again Politically? I've just never really been a Chinese aircraft guy. But then again, I've never had much luck defending China against good players.

Hopefully the USN has finished deploying to Pearl, so tension rolls can be manipulated.

The Chinese need their aircraft if their factories are being bombed routinely. Otherwise they need their Infantry units, and they need all of them. The Petes and especially the 1940 Zeroes can be the best zappers of Chinese Build Points that the Japanese have if China fights in the air a lot.

They've moved their old ww1 battleships out to Pearl but the carriers are there yet. It'll be a priority to get them out there next turn. However, their initial 6 or so naval moves (i.e., 2 impulses worth) are used to get escorts to the 0-box in the East Coast and North Atlantic.
