Emperor Hirohito finally convinces his militarist to lay down their arms and surrender unconditionally. Even though, a number of the die hard Japanese refuse to give up. Note the partisan that spawned adjacent to Kyoto.

With the surrender of Japan and Italy the USA has added a significant number of Japanese and Italian damaged warships to their repair list. Honestly, it's unlikely that even one of these vessels will be repaired. Most likely these ships will be sold for scrap metal after the war and after US intelligence has had sufficient time to search and study these ships.

Turn 35. May/June 1945. Evacuation of Sardinia and Other "Conquered" Territory.

Because of the unconditional surrender of Italy, and to some extent, the unconditional surrender of Japan, a number of allied air and naval units on conquered territory that suddenly became neutral were hastily forced to evacuate resulting in the disorganization of 4 allied fighter squadrons, 4 bomber squadrons, 3 transport and 1 amphibious naval unit in the MTO.

The allies "knew" Italy was going to surrender but didn't anticipate as part of that they have to immediately evacuate Sardinia. This definitely degrades their operational capability in the MTO.

With the unconditional surrender of Japan, allied combat operations in Asia and Pacific have officially ended. Though, as you can well see (East of Kyoto), the Western Allies will have some "policing" to performed throughout their occupation. No matter, this and the following five posts (6 in total) will be the last status provided on the Asia/Pacific theater, with the exception of reporting on the occasional anti-terrorist operation in this theater.
