...
Mods for Bonaparte's Peninsular War and Republican Bayonets on the Rhine are currently under development (no ETA).

Yes, yes! Once Philippe creates his wonderful mod for this one I'll pick it up immediately.

I've begun work on a mod for Campaign Eylau that will be similar to my other Napoleonic mods.

The screenshots in this thread http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4542935 will show you what I'm talking about.

It will resemble the Campaign Leipzig mod more than the Campaign Jena mod, because I will be using the figures from the game.

The work is fairly straightforward, but there's a lot that needs to be done.

A soft ETA would be about three to six weeks. I don't forsee any obstacles, so I expect to get this one done as quickly as possible.

I haven't abandoned the Peninsula mod and the Republican Bayonets on the Rhine mod, but Campaign Eylay will be done first.

I recently made some important progress on RBR, so I plan to come back to it later in the spring. When it's done I'll tackle the Peninsula.

Any updates on the mod for Campaign Eylau-Friedland?

I purchased that game a couple weeks ago in anticipation of this mod soon being released. Philippe's mods have really spoiled me when it comes to these games. The vanilla graphics are so subpar that I can't bear to play them without these graphics mods.

So, I hope a release date is near.

Philippeatbay -> RE: JTS Napoleonic Battles' MODS (4/27/2019 8:36:41 PM)

The mod for Campaign Eylau-Friedland has been released in version 1.0.

There is a link in the master list in the first post of this thread, as well as a separate announcement with screenshots.

I plan on spending the next couple of weeks making a list of things I missed, after which there will be an updated version.

Can't wait for the Peninsular War mods. Probably JTS worst graphics ever, definitely needs your touch!

JTS is going to refresh the Napoleonic Battles series this year. See their website for details.

jreebel -> RE: JTS Napoleonic Battles' MODS (1/15/2020 2:28:41 PM)

Yeah I saw that. But I doubt that that will include major graphics changes to make the 3D views playable without severe eyestrain.

Exaggeration no? I mean the oldest 3 titles maybe, but the last 6 releases or so look pretty good imho. All subjective though I suppose. I personally do not like the new 3D “painted” maps that are being pushed out , all fluffy trees and soft “relaxing “ palette choices should not be the feel for martial landscapes. ( also pretty hard to see elevation changes!!).

jacktimes2 -> RE: JTS Napoleonic Battles' MODS (5/10/2020 7:24:47 PM)

These look great! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to download the Austerlitz mod from box.com, and as you say, the Dropbox link is old (version 1.3a). Is it a bandwidth issue? I figured I'd caught it early enough in the month, but I guess not. Tried a couple of different browsers. Can anyone help out with that zip file?

Philippeatbay -> RE: JTS Napoleonic Battles' MODS (5/10/2020 9:29:27 PM)

I've only used 20% of my bandwidth on Box this month, so it's not a bandwidth issue.

I'm not sure if the Dropbox links are even up to date, so make sure to use Box instead. I really don't like Dropbox. It's better known than Box, but it's an invasive program and it doesn't work as well.

Don't be put off by the message that you'll see in the middle of the Box download screen. Click on the download button in the upper right-hand corner.

jacktimes2 -> RE: JTS Napoleonic Battles' MODS (5/10/2020 11:15:11 PM)

Understood. I don't like dropbox either. For now, it is just hanging at the page you shared a screenshot of. I click download and, other than a "your download is in progress" browser window popping up, nothing happens. No system window asking me to save the zip file or anything like that. I will keep trying.
EDIT: Funnily enough, I was able to dl the file onto my iPad with no trouble, then xfer it to my PC. Must be a browser issue on my end. Thanks for the mods and your help.

GrayNemesis -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (5/13/2020 8:56:39 PM)

Box link for Bautzen d/n seem to be working,. Thanks.

Philippeatbay -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (5/27/2020 6:30:34 PM)

Now that the academic year is over I've had a chance to take a comprehensive look at what's going on with the links to my mods.

To my horror I've discovered that most of them aren't working.

So I've done some major housekeeping and replaced all the offending files in both Box and Dropbox and created a whole new set of links.

Going forward I'll be a little less cavalier about keeping the Dropbox files up to date.

In the meantime, if you try to download something and it doesn't work, give me a shout through PM and I'll try to fix it.

As of today, all of the links to Box and Dropbox should be working and will take you to the latest versions of each mod.

The links are in the first post of this thread on page 1, just after the screenshots.

Philippeatbay -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (8/3/2020 9:35:04 PM)

In the wake of the latest round of JTS updates I'm going to have to spend some time figuring out how I need to adjust these mods to accomodate the changes to the game (some of which haven't happened yet).

At first I was afraid to look: when the new graphics for France '14 came out I had to scrap the early versions of the Belle Epoque mod and start all over.

But the good news is I've taken a quick glance at what's been done on the JTS side and there doesn't seem to be anything in there that's fundamentally incompatible.

For a variety of reasons I'm also aware that there may be some changes in which part of the units bitmap the Wagram engine points to, so I'll be taking a look at how that issue effects my Wagram mod
shortly before or shortly after the JTS patch comes out.

Box has been a little slow about resetting my August bandwidth allotment, but I now have mirror links to Dropbox for all my Napoleonic mods.
Having said that, if you try to download via the Box link and have to resort to the Dropbox link, I'd really like to hear about it.
I'm reluctant to give Box too hard a time with all that's going on, but I'd still like to make them aware of it if there are problems.

Mappo -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (8/4/2020 2:32:37 PM)

Hi Philippe, many thanks for your mods. About Box, I have tried several times to download from Box, but without success. No problem with dropbox

Philippeatbay -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (8/4/2020 6:30:22 PM)

Thanks that. I've rattled Box's cage and am holding my breath to see if it will do any good.

In the meantime the links to Dropbox are all working, so no one need wait for this to clear itself up.

GrayNemesis -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (10/29/2020 8:47:12 PM)

Greetings Philippe, are you still planning to update the mods for the JTS updates recently released? TY

carll11 -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (4/19/2021 6:13:54 PM)

I have just completed belatedly my upgrade to Gold of the Tiller Panzer camp. series of games.
I got here becasue Rich over at JTS support, a great guy, and help, sent me my serial #'s for all the games I had purchased thru hps and Tillers site and I saw my nappy purchases.

I haven't played my nappys in forever, 7-8 years at least, seeing the games serials made me wonder if there was an present day interest in these games.......and here I am.
I would have stuck with a Nappy game in my rotation but, the graphics was one reason and the work it takes to create objectives and add AI orders in order to generate a decent solitaire experience is huge.

These graphics are beautiful Philippe, really. It has definitely sparked my interest. This weekend I am going to work to install your mods.

Wagram is one of my Nappy favs, is there still an issue installing your mod?

Artaud -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (4/22/2021 11:04:35 AM)

I bought "Republican Bayonets on the Rhine" a few days ago, mainly because it is on sale. I only play with the unit icons (3D???), because I want to see the flags and colorful uniforms. Hopefully a graphics mod will be available for that game soon.

I'm torn between buying another JTS game in the Napoleonic series or buying one of the ACW games. If ACW, I would prefer a game with at least some of the USCT regiments. If Napoleonic... These games are rather expensive, so I think I can only buy one more in the near future.

Back in the day I owned all of the Talonsoft versions.

I'm having fun becoming reacquainted with John Tiller's games.

jimi3 -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (4/22/2021 4:10:28 PM)

I think you might be looking for Campaign Petersburg. It's one of the newer civil war titles. Has the Crater.

Hmm. Yes, I just looked at it and it does have The Crater. Do you know where I can find a scenario list for Campaign Petersburg? I would like whatever game has the most battles and skirmishes with USCT regiments.

How easy is the scenario editor to use? If it's easy, I could perhaps create my own small battles. I recently re-read Noah Andre Trudeau's "Like Men of War," and it's just packed with battles and maps.

But right now I'm re-reading John Elting's "Swords Around a Throne," (bought for me by my precious wife during our first year together) so I'm getting an itch for another Napoleonic game...

JTS produces great games, but they are so expensive. I know these are better than the earlier Talonsoft versions I had back in the day, but it still feels strange paying top dollar for a game system that was tried and tested a long time ago.

I'm nearing retirement (412 days!) and have medical bills to pay, other bills to pay...

Lancier -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (6/1/2021 4:17:27 PM)

Philippe, do the mods work after JTS/WDS updates? I applied your Leipzig mod for example after getting the update from JTS site.. I got below graphics, some units are shown blank? You have the same problem? Is this for Leipzig just or same with Marengo, Austerlitz, Eylau-Friedland etc?

Btw any dates for Bonaparte's Peninsular War and Republican Bayonets on the Rhine mods?

This is current list of links to my mods for John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles.

Although these mods work with both the JTS and HPS versions of the games,if
you only have HPS versions, you should get in touch with support at JTS
software and they will help you convert to the JTS version so you can get
the latest patches.

I don't have time to run a website, but a list of links to the current
updates will do essentially the same thing.

These are graphics-only mods, so your PBEM opponent doesn't need to be using
it for your game to work.

These mods work with the 'new' Napoleonic engine that Tiller has been using
since the beginning of this century (at both HPS and JTS). They do NOT work on the
old Talonsoft Napoleonic engine from the 90's, or any of its derivatives
(e.g. the Matrix version).

The basic difference between the old and the new engine is that with the new
engine you can play a huge campaign on one gigantic map. The 3D maps for
the old engine were hand-painted, so gigantic maps were out of the question.
The new engine accomplished the large size by using an algorithim and standardized hexes
whose graphic quality often suffered.

These mods were developed as an attempt to address that problem.

Make sure you back up your originals and read the README files. Some of

these mods contain two separate mods, so whatever you do, don't download

them directly into your game.

Some of the mods have two links, one to Box and one to Dropbox. Whenever

there is a choice, always use the Box link because the Dropbox links tend to

point to earlier versions of the mod.

Mods for Bonaparte's Peninsular War and Republican Bayonets on the Rhine are currently under development (no ETA).

Zovs -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (6/2/2021 3:27:26 AM)

These look great but are they not now incorporated into the Gold versions?

I have Republican Bayonets on the Rhine and the demo (The Final Struggle) and it seems that WDS has updated them with these mods, no?

Philippeatbay -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (11/25/2021 4:38:17 AM)

After a long vacation from Napoleonic modding, the revamping of the JTS games by WDS has brought me out of hibernation.

I've updated the Box link in my Napoleonic mods list (the first post in this thread) for Campaign Waterloo, but haven't done anything with the Dropbox link yet. The screenshots in this thread are also showing the old graphics, but with so many mods and links to update, fixing the window dressing will have to take a back seat to updating the series.

Here's a quote from the readme file:

quote

This is version 6.0 of my Campaign Waterloo mod.

It should be copied over a clean installation of the latest WDS version of Campaign Waterloo. Previous versions of my mod will interfere with the way this one looks and works, so if you've installed an earlier version of my mod (such as 5.0) while you were waiting for me to come out of hibernation, I'm sorry but you'll have to start over again from scratch.

The mod is intended to be played with the background sounds ON and the music OFF.

The migration of the Napoleonic series from JTS to WDS has required a drastic overhaul of my mods. This will be the first of many revisions of all of my mods, and I'm pleased to note that the WDS versions have solved some of the problems I was having adapting my mods to the Peninsula campaign.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the new terrain graphics (both 2D and 3D) are quite acceptable as is. I may consider making a few adjustments for winter, spring, and fall textures down the road, but I see no reason to tinker with the terrain graphics at the moment.

For anyone suffering from nostalgia for the older versions of terrain graphics in my mods, inside the Map folder I've included a folder that preserves a late version of my 2D graphics and the EZjax 3D graphics).

I've also preserved parts of Ed Williams' Sound Pack in the Media folder. Version 5.0 had included the entire Sound Pack (by kind permission), and I look forward to the eventual revival of the Volcano Man site.

The core of my mod is about flags, and they appear in the background in the unitboxes as well as flying over the figures on the 3D map. Mounting specific flags over individual units is fairly labor-intensive, and I was relieved when I found that the High Res Map folder uses the same 3D unit textures and bases as the regular folder. I've put my 3D units and bases in the High Res Map folder so that it won't interfere with my mod, but I have NOT copied it to the traditional map folder (not liking the traditional textures is what drove me to make this mod in the first place).

unquote

The next two mods to be updated will probably be Campaign Eckmuhl and Campaign Wagram because they're fairly similar to Campaign Waterloo. I hope to get these done before Christmas, at which point I'll have a handle on how difficult it will be to convert the more ambitious mods.

moichris -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (11/30/2021 2:07:48 PM)

Thank you for your work, to be honest the original designs were really difficult. Esthetic in such games are very important to enjoy the pleasure of the game.

gamer78 -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (12/1/2021 8:30:15 PM)

Thanks to WDS about Napoleonic games have graphics and rules improved. Only in certain elevations, hexes not visible in Campaign Leipzig. Difficult to play in 2d map.
In Panzer Campaigns in Tunisia'43 command ranges and artillery potential fire are difficult to spot in desert tiles with color as yellow.

And thank you Philippeatbay, the terrain in France'14 was excellent-better version of original terrain-. Latest updates goes to different route.

Philippeatbay -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (12/3/2021 9:02:47 PM)

The Campaign Eckmuhl mod (version 5.0) has now been updated and adjusted to work with the WDS version of the game. The existing Box link (not the Dropbox link) in the first post of this thread will get you to the right place.

The mod needs to be installed over a CLEAN version of Campaign Waterloo. If it is installed over earlier versions of my mod, it won't do what it's supposed to do.

I had originally planned to release the Eckmuhl and Wagram updates at the same time, but after finishing the Wagram update I discovered that the base game hasn't been transformed into a WDS version to the same extent. So I'm not posting it for the moment, or at least until WDS comes out with a complete WDS overhaul of Campaign Wagram.

The Campaign Eckmuhl mod works in pretty much the same way as the the Campaign Waterloo mod. Here's a quote from the new readme file:

quote

Hi Phillipeatbay,

Where did you update Wagram from? All should be full WDS versions. I did all the work on the full installers so should know! Please let me know if you used a full installer or overwrote with an update/patch.

Thanks,

David

Philippeatbay -> RE: John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles (12/5/2021 4:15:52 PM)

The Waterloo mod has been updated to 6.2 and the Eckmuhl mod has been updated to 5.1 to correct a minor but highly visible and annoying error in the 2D magnified symbols file.

The Box links (but not the Dropbox links) in the first post of this thread will take you to the corrected version.
