I have read several comments about how it is difficult to win as the allies due to Russia getting overrun. I look at this differently than others and that it is a strength to the game. Do you really want a game where the AI is easily defeated, or do you want a challenge? I found it easy to win as the Axis, it was my first game but the Axis seem to be overwhelming favorites. The game was fun, but I thought it could have been a little more challenging. I am trying my first game as the Allies and although I held off the Germans in France for a decent time, I realize I made some strategic blunders and right now the situation in Russia is ugly. In Asia it is a different story, my Chinese are actually beating the Japanese and I have gained a decent coast line and have them trapped in three pockets right now. I also took out some of their HQ’s so the prospect of a counter attack is slim. This may free me up to help Russia in other ways but I am not sure how long Russia can hold at this point considering my blunders there. So the war is still very much up in the air, which I find appealing. I know the few things I would do different that I think would make a big difference. So I will finish this game to see how it turns out, then give some thought on my strategy for my next game. I like this challenge and actually find myself looking forward to the next game and seeing how my strategy adjustments will work. Looks like Bylandt11 took the same approach and was determined to try different strategies to find one that works to save Russia from being overrun. I also am in a PBEM game as the Axis and again I think there is a huge advantage for the Axis to start. I am now interested in playing as the Allies to test some strategies I have. Seems like the Allies makes for a more interesting game and requires much more planning and strategic thought. Again, I find that appealing.
