Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

USSR. The Persian Front. Tehran, and hence Persia, should (re)fall to the Soviets next allied impulse.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

USSR. The Sukumi Pocket. German "pockets" left behind in the Soviet Union are now down to 1 stack. Smiling Albert is smiling so much anymore.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Western Allies. Railing East (1/3). Patton and his HQ-A are railed from Western Europe to Korea through Soviet controlled territory (and with the permission of the Soviets of course).

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Western Allies. Railing East (2/3). Since the Brits only get 2 rail moves, which isn't enough to rail a unit from Western Europe to Korea in one impulse, Monty and his HQ-A are railed to Ulan-Ude to set up a rail head. This rail head will serve as an intermediate stop for allied troops being railed from Europe into the PTO. Eventually, Monty and his HQ-A will be railed into Korea for action in Japan.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Western Allies. Railing East (3/3). "Needing" to get French troops to Asia (specifically French Indo-China) and the Pacific, Georges and his HQ-I establish also establishes a railed head deep into Soviet Asia.

FYI. Monty and Georges are both need to "satisfy" foreign troop commitment requires for any non-HQ British and French units, respectively, that "stop" in the Soviet Union on their way to the Pacific.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

RN. Port Strike. Osaka, Japan. Scratch 3 more Japanese CP's.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

RN/USN. South China Sea. And another 3.

rkr1958 -> RE: Witness to World War 2. (8/29/2019 5:07:45 PM)

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

RN Moves. China Sea. The RN moves 3 heavy cruisers from the 4-box to the 3-box of the China Sea with each cruiser picking up a US marine or army division. These 3 divisions along with 1 British garrison an amph (4-box) and 2 US airborne corps are ready for invasion.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Western Allies. PTO (1/6). The allies really wanted (needed) to flip Yamashita. Since he wasn't flip his HQ-I is in position to provide emergency supply to 3 Japanese units on the isolated home island of Shikoku.

Allied planners, though press on with planned operations in spite the risk now presented by potential emergency supply to disorganized and out of supply unit(s) that the allies will attack. The allies was force Japan to decide whether of not to disorganize Yamashita and increase allied risk or not.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Western Allies. PTO (2/6). Some criticism is being leveled at allied planners for not also directing this ground strike against Yamashita instead of diluting the ground strikes across two stacks. If the first strike had gotten Yamashita then these same allied planners would be called daring or brilliant. Now they're being called over reaching or even greedy. Only time will tell whether or not all this is of issue.

rkr1958 -> RE: Witness to World War 2. (8/29/2019 5:21:04 PM)

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Western Allies. PTO (3/6). Nagasaki. Japan thought it was enough to defend Nagasaki with a single marine division at this stage during the turn. They were wrong. USMC 1st marine div, XVIII US airborne crops (both doubled by Nimitz), 3rd AUS garrison supported by USN/RN shore bombardment and air support achieve surprise and take Nagasaki.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Western Allies. PTO (4/6). Tokushima, Japan. Yamashita does provide emergency supply and significantly increases the allied risk for their combined land, air and amphibious assault to take the Japanese port of Tokushima. This risk is negated by excellent fighting by the Americans (i.e., land combat roll of 15!).

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #5.

Western Allies. PTO (5/6). Reorg. Nimitz, who was used with the O-chit to double land combat factors, has nothing in range which he can fully reorganized. Though, this is the type of problem the allies are most happy to have in this situation.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Axis #6.

Weather Summary. Actions. The Nazi diplomats in Tokyo exerted a tremendous amount of pressure on Japan in order to increase the chance that the turn would end from 10 to 20% at the end of this impulse. However, from Japan's perspective this would give the allies an 80% chance (i.e., turn continues) of expanding without resistance their bridgeheads at Nagasaki and on Shikoku. This was deemed way too much risk; therefore Japan politely refused the Nazi request and took a combine.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #7.

O-Chits/Actions.

Allied powers all take lands.

USSR uses O-chit with Vatutin in Persian to double land combat factors on their assault to (re)capture Tehran.

Great Britain uses O-chit with Wavell in Turkey to double Great Britain's land combat factors on the allies assault to capture Ankara, knock Turkey out of the war and deal the final death blow to the Third Reich (assuming USSR captures Tehran).

US uses O-chit to reorg all their flipped HQ's.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #7.

USSR. Port Arthur, Manchuria. Well, that didn't go well for the Soviets but it was not a disaster. Looks like the "liberation" of Port Arthur will have to wait until next turn.

Western Allies. TTO. Ankara, Turkey. Nope ... The Third Reich will continue into next turn. The land combat assault went poorly but wasn't a disaster (allied lost no units).
