LordCucumber -> OOBs, I did it again.. (6/25/2003 3:07:08 AM)

OK.. today I discovered the 'original' OOBs aren't used by everyone here. Some use the original, and some use the april 2003 version. I found out because I kept getting error messages trying to play with someone with a different OOB set.
Apart from the obvious question "what's the difference between them then?" I'd also like to know which one should use, the original one that came with the 7.1 release or the april 7.1x update (the naming has me confused too). I am becoming a real OOB hater here, so to any of you cheeky OOBs out there: don't come a knocking when this OOB hater's a rocking.

Please advise..

We (PBEM'ers) use the v7.1x OOBs from April 7th, 2002, mostly. There is no in-game difference that I have noticed in 1 year of playing with them. If I get the message that the OOBs are corrupt, I just accept it and move on with no ill effects.

I've attached the OOBs.

Bob

Thanks a bunch! I've installed them, so hopefully, this will take away the problem :D

Edit: they do go in the OOB folder right?
Edit 2: nevermind, I found out they needed to be in the SPWAW root, problem solved!

Disregard OOBs security violations, they don't mean much. It just lets you know that either yours, your opponenets, or even the map was created with a different version. It doesn't effect gameplay.:D

Unless of course you see a 18 inch naval cannon attached to a jeep...then you will know your opponent did some tinkering :D

There will be new and completely revamped final official OOBs coming in a few more weeks, along with a few extra "goodies". If you don't love these , then you really are an OOB hater. ;) Personally, I love 'em, and you may even see a few contributions done by yours truly. :D Hint: be ready to hit the beaches of Guadalcanal with the First to Fight soon!

The 4/7/02 OOBs (v7.x) were issued to fix a couple errors...IIRC one of the problems involved US engineers (no flamethrower).

KG Erwin -> The new OOBs are the tip of the iceberg (6/25/2003 11:39:59 AM)

For those of you that thought Matrix was abandoning SPWaW, version 7.2 OOBs will soon be released, plus some extra goodies for scenario design. If that isn't enough, a new Mega Campaign is on the horizon. The future is so bright, I gotta wear shades.

Reg -> Manage your OOB sets..... (6/25/2003 2:58:59 PM)

If you are having trouble matching OOBs with opponents, you may find OOB Manager useful. This will allow you run several sets of OOBs and swap them in and out as required.

Hope you find this useful,

Thanks for all the help guys! This is one of those darker corners of the game one does not notice when first playing. I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong, but I am glad to see this is not the case :)

Thanks,

Cyr.
