south final

I have cleared out 4 hexes south of the Don near Rostov. Thus my crossing of follow-on troops when I break south from here will be uninterrupted by Russian zoc's and spies.

I await a clear turn.

Fetterkrolle -> RE: MUD season turn 42 (12/1/2019 4:12:11 PM)

With 400AP I think I would do HQBU on every pz corps before the first clear turn. You might be able to do a lot of damage across the entire front :D

BrianG -> MUD season turn 44 (12/1/2019 4:14:22 PM)

German air base attack during mud.

Lesson is do not use dive bombers on airbase attacks. I think save them for front line combat duty.

BrianG -> RE: MUD season turn 44 (12/1/2019 4:16:18 PM)

Final south..

tanks are fueled up and ready to go.

I would assume a retreat first but who knows with Bitburg

BrianG -> RE: MUD season turn 44 (12/1/2019 4:17:59 PM)

Big V final.

I know I want to attack south from Rostov. Here I am not sure in which direction to attack.

These offensive attack orders will be coming late to the front commanders

BrianG -> 45 last April (12/1/2019 4:21:58 PM)

I bring another tank corp south to Rostov to add heft to the planned attack.

This used up this turn's train capacity

BrianG -> RE: 45 last April (12/1/2019 4:23:03 PM)

3 sided Mud attack south Moscow. The pinch continues.

BrianG -> 45 last April (12/1/2019 4:26:46 PM)

ATTACK of the Month club candidate!

The German troops had barely seen combat and were well rested. plus I massed in engineers.

Still it seems like a low number of Russian casualties for this rout.

He has his Crimea general in the port and was able to get use of support artillery.

Next turn is May 42. and hopefully clear weather.

BrianG -> 46 Now last April (12/4/2019 11:46:37 PM)

April hath 30 days not 29.

Thus we remain in April.

I started to attack a few Russian airbases down south and now Bitburg is returning the favor.

Actually, this is when he started to attack my airbases more frequently.

I wonder if this is a planned Russian strategy or reactionary to my activity.

BrianG -> 46 Now last April (12/4/2019 11:50:53 PM)

Weather report.

Query:

is the 'forecast report' the same for each side or each sides may differ?

Looking clear for South Soviet Zone. Wait that's wrong. It's clear in the top 2 zones.

But at the time I played these turns I actually thought the South Soviet was about to be clear.

This is b/c the event log list lists the euro first and south soviet second etc. I think I have misread this report for a few weeks.

[image]local://upfiles/41373/E9B7F0651AE94E808297B6E295CE5F51.jpg[/image]

BrianG -> 47 (12/5/2019 12:08:59 AM)

So when I get to turn 47 and it not clear in south soviet zone I figured the variable map gods tricked me.

the Central zone is clear and next turns forecast is again clear for Central. Thus I am looking at this green area as 2 turns of possibility.

BrianG -> RE: 47 (12/5/2019 12:11:38 AM)

here is a close up of the green Central Soviet zone which may have 2 clears in a row.

Im thinking I can head east and the southeast and get over the Don south of Stalingrad.

If South zone somehow finds lucky clear weather, the whole south could be broken wide open.

BrianG -> RE: 47 (12/5/2019 12:12:47 AM)

In response to airbase attack, I ship in AA to Rostov area.

Flak good! 6 Russian recon units mauled. Most I have ever seen sent out to recon.

Had this query before and at least based on reading of manual and tests so far seems to always be the same. Part of the reasoning from the manual is there is only one roll for weather modified by one forecast and not two forecasts. By observation of both sides they have always been the same. But you can never discount.

It does mean whoever goes first in every turn (Axis here) has an inherent advantage. Not only do they know with absolute certainty what the weather in the opponents next turn will be, they are the first to react to the weather forecast. The other side can never be certain of the weather in the opponents next phase and only knows the forecasts afterwards.

same forecast seems fair.

chaos45 -> RE: 46 Now last April (12/6/2019 10:55:27 AM)

Just remember each HQBU also burns more trucks, so just depends on how long you want the German truck pool to last. Unless that has changed.
