Moscow final

I pull back on the flanks, hold the tip and pray for mud.

Still we see no clouds.

BrianG -> RE: 10 (8/1/2020 1:27:29 PM)

south final

Ty creeps up to line, preserving fuel.

I try and build my first hold line.

I cannot afford to lose a lot of troops.

Brian
Lookng at the 1st 10 turns, it all seem very unbalanced.L'grad virtually isolated and only a 3 CV stack between him and Moscow. Tyronec is clearly very skilled, but so are you, and then nothing to stop Moscow being surrounded. I would welcome your comments on balance.

That would be my question too. If both sides play well, do you think it is possible to stop Axis from taking Lenningrad/Moscow/Rostov/Sevastapol in '41 ?

BrianG -> RE: 10 (8/5/2020 11:56:57 AM)

I think they really need to fix turn 1 down south. This overextended south move, just means so many units will be lost and barely put up a good fight. Extra mp's for frozen Russian units which activate on turn 1 might force Germans to reconsider the latest south surge. i fought for supply for 3 weeks and lost all the units.

If the south was harder for the Germans, the Russians can retreat properly in the south and concentrate on saving the Moscow and Leningrad.

Rostov can be saved in 1941. I almost did. That cut off move I failed to do a few turns ago might have been the key. Also i feel the direct attack on Urban cities are going too easy and too many engineer are deciding the battle. Defending Odessa, better than i did, would also help down south.

Sebastopol can be saved.

Leningrad is always kaput

and Moscow most likely falls turn 16 17 or snow. Very hard but it can be saved. I just keep retreating b/c i cannot afford unit loss after losing so many surrenders, plus units which would rout are now now surrendering.

BrianG -> turn 11 (8/5/2020 12:00:10 PM)

Crimea clear out

CV7500 nice

now they surrender instead of rout really hurts.
Here a 4 level fort in rough is easily taken down by massive engineer.

Just does not seem right.

sillyflower -> RE: 10 (8/5/2020 5:08:53 PM)

Thank you both for your comments

Solving the absurd T1 problem (which seems to have got worse in the north too))is clearly not going to happen. Eskuche's thread about sorting out T1 is not getting any real interest, and I doubt that any level of support would lead to action. The other big problem is the significant reduction in soviet ability to rail troops, so I'm not sure how those saved troops get to L'grad.............

A shame, but I can't see the point of playing WiTE against skilled Germans, and not much more point in playing the less skilled. It doesn't even make me want to play Germans again.

eskuche -> RE: 10 (8/5/2020 5:52:38 PM)

Fort wasn’t taken out. That engineer value with the bonus from CV would have taken it to mid-3’s. The reason it appears gone is that the battle was lost without it being a city to prevent retreat

From the Axis perspective, I think cutting off that lead panzer spearhead would have made little difference to taking Rostov or Sevastapol. For AGN and AGC the restraining factor on Axis is getting the infantry into contact. For AGS, at least in the second half of the summer, the primary restraining factor is rail conversion. There were several moves when I was approaching Stalino when I was holding back the Panzers simply because I didn't want them to get too far ahead of the FBD and risk getting them cut off with no follow up units forward enough and with enough MPs to do a rescue. So a delay flipping a few hexes some turns earlier doesn't really make much difference, the only impact it could have would be to delay the attack on Sevastapol by maybe a turn and then those units would have been delayed getting to Rostov.

homeboy5 -> RE: 10 (8/7/2020 5:50:02 AM)

I really dont see problems to save Leningrad,Moscow,Rostov and Sevastopol in 41.Especially if you play in server game.Leningrad is probably most hard direction to save it but still possible and i actually did that twice.

BrianG -> turn 10 EXECUTION (8/8/2020 12:47:14 PM)

Stalin is not happy.

NW air commander is justly executed.

Mostly due to failure to properly retreat back to the Russians lines

and a battle snippet: Where russian kia is very high

BrianG -> RE: turn 10 (8/8/2020 12:49:53 PM)

BrianG -> RE: turn 10 (8/8/2020 12:53:14 PM)

Lake Ladoga

Pet peeve. The whole boat and lake use seems very odd.

I have no idea why i cant ship this unit.

[:(]

BrianG -> RE: turn 10 (8/8/2020 12:58:11 PM)

upset about the setback at Moscow, Stalin reverts back to mass hoard attack.

No recon was sent out to judge the strength of the German defenses.

It was nice of the airforce to supply 1 fighter and 1 bomber.

BrianG -> turn 10 final position (8/8/2020 1:02:24 PM)

Leningrad.

While isolating Leningrad, I am going to lose more units to entrapment.

His tanks are still here atm so all is not lost.

I had to retreat Vladai hills as trying to save what i can save.

[image]local://upfiles/41373/37D49F3905F144CE9224DBB6F6E084FB.jpg[/image]

BrianG -> RE: turn 10 final position (8/8/2020 1:06:37 PM)

Moscow final

His tanks just rest .

North side of Moscow d looks ok. South is the main issue with all that clear terrain.

and all he prefers is to capture chunks at a time. I little bit here, a little bit there.

I hope for mud.

BrianG -> RE: turn 10 final position (8/8/2020 1:08:40 PM)

south final

I do believe his tanks did not move.

Yet my level of fear increases.

and hope for mud.

BrianG -> RE: turn 10 final position (8/8/2020 1:12:26 PM)

I have just repeated turn 10 pictures.

Battle fatigue.

I shall now proceed to turn 11.

CV7500 crimea

BrianG -> RE: turn 10 final position (8/8/2020 1:14:20 PM)

somehow Ty did not seal the pocket. I assume maybe a trap for me to keep others units in close so he can capture them next turn.

[image]local://upfiles/41373/1BFC4059D8E443E2BD0A67AB5AA9FA2F.jpg[/image]

BrianG -> 11 (8/8/2020 1:17:44 PM)

so with the new rout hq/ surrender rules, my NW hq finally arrives back at the front on turn 11.

I am not sure this is how the game really wants these things to work out. Its random and petty. Its an air commander. I'm sure his has a nice airplane available to fly out of any pocket.

ah and now i have to give them a new air commander as this one stinks.

BrianG -> RE: 11 (8/8/2020 1:21:43 PM)

north final

I have supply but still need to retreat near VV.

i just don't have a good D line.

mud would help

BrianG -> RE: 11 (8/8/2020 1:30:08 PM)

final Moscow.

the fist is unmovable and builds up each turn. and train is closer every turn.

BrianG -> RE: 11 (8/8/2020 1:31:33 PM)

Kharkov final

industry needs to get rr out asap. I may need more than one turn. So some defense for delay is in order.

BrianG -> RE: 11 (8/8/2020 1:34:13 PM)

stalino final

after a few turns of no tank movement, i assume his tanks are fueled up. He has 2 corp worth over here, and my d line is not great

I fall back.

BrianG -> turn 11 back on track (8/8/2020 1:36:24 PM)

Crimea

I add art support to the fort unit.
At least for one turn, next turn i will delete the fort and ship in regular unit.
