Thoughts on the campaign. This was a long and well fought campaign on both sides. In the spirit of the mod the Germans fought until the bitter end with the hope of drawing out a victory by lasting until the end of 1945. The Germans played a very conservative campaign on the Eastern Front, evidenced by their low MPP losses leading up until D-Day. The Axis did threaten the Soviet's major capitals with fighting at the Gates of Leningrad and Moscow, and held Rostov until 1943. I assumed for some time my opponent realized that the Soviets would not be broken they began preparing to draw out the war, this was confirmed in the summer of 1943. The Axis built a massive army that would prove difficult sustain as the economic noose began to collapse. Given this style of play the Axis losses vs Soviets appear flipped, with the Axis losing 312 units total and the Soviets only 185. The Soviets had lost 11 Tank Corps/Armies and the Axis 31 over the course of the war! Nonetheless the end result would be the same as history. I salute my opponent on a great game!
