So esteemed Forumites, here is a question about P-51 production. I am playing the additional air HQ grand campaign, and I have advanced to September 1943 and I am not getting an P-51, although I am thinking that I should.

I have gotten a couple of P-51A (2 factories), but my understanding is that they should have been switched over to the production of the P-51B-1 (expansion rate 2, 24 limit) in June, and to the P-51B-10 in September (expansion rate 3, limit 36), alas I am not seeing any air frames in the pool, nor factories on the overview of the type.

What am I doing wrong?

P-51 will be produced until the end of September 1943 as defined in data.
There's actually a display bug not showing a proper end date for aircraft with update paths, factory upgrades will only happen past the end date of the current production model

There is something I consider to be a bug in the game. You get P-51B-1's for a month or two, then production stops for a few months, then you get some P-51B-10's for a few months, then production again stops for a few months, then you start getting P-51D's until the end of the war.

I can't believe that's the way North American Aviation's production of P-51's actually worked, with no aircraft delivered for months at a time.

Hmm, so its purely a display bug? Let's see if I will start to get them in October then. Weird that the game has a bug pulling its own data.

Check data in editor - many fighters have a date overlap with last production and first month of the successor. Old type will stay in production until they are past its last production date then switch to new model.

Dennis,

This is what I posted on the testing forum just over two years ago:

I don't understand the combination of production start and stop dates, combined with delayed availability for US fighters.

For example, let's look at the P-51 in the 1943 Campaign (AAHQ) scenario:

The P-51B-1 is produced Turns 1-9, but not available to deploy until Turn 10. A total of 192 are built, which will equip three US FB-F groups, but leaving no replacements available.

The P-51B-10 is produced Turns 10-44, but not available to deploy until Turn 23, which means 13 turns go by in which not a single new P-51 enters the pool. A total of 1,378 are built.

The P-51D is produced Turns 45 onward, but not available to deploy until Turn 53, by which time 372 are available, which means 9 turns go by in which not a single new P-51 enters the pool.

So from Turn 9 to Turn 23, and again from Turn 44 to Turn 53, no new P-51's of any type are delivered to the pool.

B-1 is produced until 11/43, B-10 until 5/44.
You need to look at the true dates in the editor, not the borked display in the production menu which does not show end dates

The_Serious_Strategy_Gamer -> RE: P-51 Production (8/15/2020 12:14:22 PM)

So looking at the editor the B-1 would start to be produced in 1943 June.

However it is now 1943 September 11 and I have no P-51B-1 is the pool per the production view (the type does not even show up, with or without filters) and I can not select it when changing the airplane type of a US FB group. Only the P-51A shows up at all (as an outdated plane in the production view with #- and with like 6 aircraft in the pool)

I dont get it

EDIT: Ok, per the editor the P-51A is produced until 1943 September, so I guess that is what is preventing the B-1 to show up. I wonder whether it get produced in the background or not at all though.
