Buildup of enough supply and fuel in Oz/NZ is why the Allies usually do not start their comeback until Fall 1942. In your case I am guessing Spring 1942!

Why? It doesn't seem to me I am doing anything original here.[&:]

Bass Strait and the Melbourne approaches are easy to patrol with air and naval assets if there is little risk of Japanese air activity. Then it becomes just air searches. They are also shallow waters which is makes it easier to kill subs.

Being patrolled now...night and day.

West Coast work....

Battleship row is moving to Alameda...subs would have to penetrate the mines and ASW at San Francisco to get to them.

Pearl Harbor could be raided...and is not safe.

The US battleships simply aren't ready for war yet. AAA is anemic, and crew training, especially at night when Iboats are most active, is very low.

The pilots in the floatplanes are training at recon...for it is anticipated they will become a major shore bombardment factor later in the war.

In less than a week there will be 7 battleships there.

They’re several months from war ready. Does the mod start them at a lower XP than stock ? Some of them look like they haven’t progressed a bit in six weeks, even counting the fact some might have had an upgrade in January. Or maybe you didn’t let them leave Pearl Harbor when there were enemy subs around ?

Your aggressive defence is having far more impact on the Japanese expansion and bleeding their best assets faster than any other Sir Robin phase I have seen!
I am learning a lot.

Thanks, but part of it is reading your opponent. I don't think I would have success using this tactic against myself for example.[;)]

Our forward base doesn't surprise the IJN...we were hoping the 6" guns would be a surprise and the mines are still on the Dutch sub in transit. No hits.[:(]

Spoke to soon, with daylight, the gunners had good aim! Would have been nice to put one or two hits on the AV.

His Zeroes brushed aside our tiny 2 P40 LRCAP, and then he bombed our tanks, our Hudsons snuck in under his LRCAP, and bombed him in the morning. Uh, oh...there is a full regiment here plus the SNLF.

Then in the afternoon, as planned, the P40s swept and got revenge.

The Dutch have survived to shock attacks since we reinforced them for three days...inflicting nice losses, but also buying time where those troops are tied down on Java.

1-1 attack.

That is a lot of engineers gone for the Japanese and he lost one more device destroyed than you did.[&o]

Yes, sometimes the Mark 14s work but you don't see how many were fired on the combat report.

Our Banshees get caught over Geraldton, by Oscars...bad timing on my part.

Our P40 Sweep does great against the Zeroes...high altitude sweep gets dive.

We will risk a night time encounter in waves of small task forces...the best experience ships first, and the last will hopefully be a bombardment.

It is probably an ambush...but conditions are very good for the Allies. 100% Moonlight and clear skies forecast. We have resupply in port and ake's and he doesn't.

Our troops aren't quite there yet to be so aggressive attacking.[;)][:D]

Our subs are putting constant pressure on Townsville, arriving, patrolling and leaving to shed their dls. Waiting for the mines to be deployed.

We will have to keep up our recon here to determine IJ intentions...the flanking amphibious invasion is a big concern as is a daily pummeling of Chittagong by IJN Battleships.

Allied focus number 1...keeping eastern India and Ledo. 8th Marines are at Diamond Harbor, 2nd Marines are on trains at Bombay...Australians coming in now in good numbers.

China...will be able to start flying in the 37mm AT guns of the 56th AT Regiment tomorrow to Changsha. The British are already there...with a whopping experience rating of 20![X(]

Can't believe the IJ haven't attack Changsha yet...or bombed it.

Missed your question...some of the BBs have gotten their radar upgrades...and so couldn't train. There is still four in upgrade status at Pearl or maybe 5.

I don't think they start lower.

China...

I don't see many Chinese LCUs sitting out there in the open building forts. Especially in the central region, where almost all of them seem to be moving from/to bases. Do you prefer them resting in the bases instead? I'd say the added value of WR terrain and 3+ field forts on a major road is worth some of the squads remaining disabled. Even more so behind a river. Or between Changsha and Changteh

Stacking games limit...so defense in depth doesn't work as you get snowballed. I don't think defense in depth works anyhow in China.

I have strong festungs that can stop/stall IJA attacks favorably except for tank thrusts. Many units are forts 4 all ready. Plus just one moving unit shows the pip, while there are units under digging in.

The main problem is the Japanese tank spearhead, which I am sure is going to attack at Changsha. Even if all the AT gun units were there, it would only amount to 120 guns versus 600+ tanks. I really need those Stuarts to counter...I will be lucky if it is around Kweiyang.

There is an amazing difference in unit recovery based upon where they are...and in general I want the largest units recovering first, and the lighter units holding the line for now. Plus continue surging troops forward around the Japanese.

Will you proceed with the attack on the Home Islands ? With KB located so far south, and the strain on NJP’s air force during those first six weeks, risk should be limited, but you’re still over 20 hexes away.

I don’t remember ever seeing as low a night XP as 32 on a BB, usually I have one 33 or 34, all the rest over 35.

The first upgrade is indeed crucial, not only for the radars, but also for the AA. Between the installation of the 20mm Oerlikons and the replacement of the last 3in/50 by more numerous 1.1in, the AA ratings surge.
