A “reverse gear” would cut the movement so greatly that it would be useful only in limited situations. If you’re in high movement cost terrain (snow, shallow water/swamp, thunderstorms) it cuts the movement hexes available drastically ([I]NOTE[/I]:except French tanks, which have multiple “reverse” gears ;)). I’d imagine “reverse” in those conditions would get you a hex at best IMO. In other conditions, it might be beneficial to keep backing up (however slowly) if you’ve got heavier armor than the AT guns/AFV’s shooting at you can penetrate. I’d trade more suppression, more chance for track damage or artillery strikes for not giving the enemy a shot at my soft bum in situations like that. It’d be beneficial in those instances I’d guess, but what’s the cost in terms of coding/programming time for this benefit?
