Disband / merge questions.

1. Will Soviet disbanded / merged units be returned after X turns or will they disappear forever?
2. In particular, Soviet disbanded / merged TDs will be returned after X turns as TBRs or will they disappear forever?

no - the return/conversion rules only apply if destroyed, so its a trade off

Perhaps it may not have been recon'ed enough. The mission won't hit a target it doesn't think exists, or thinks is already severely damaged.

This seems to be the problem, thank you! It didn't occur to me that I would need to recon in order to be able to bomb, after all Soviets should know where their own railyards are... Also, I had been running recon missions, but they were 'just' tactical recon, not "strategic" recon.

Rosencrantus -> RE: Quick Questions Thread (5/26/2021 8:27:03 PM)

There aren't actually any "automatic rail repair HQs". What people do though is just use all the R.A.D labor support units and place them in a corps HQ so they can roughly control where they go, which is within the command radius of the HQ (5 hexes). The same applies if you put R.A.D units in an army HQ, it repairs random railways within 15 hexes.

Rosencrantus -> RE: Quick Questions Thread (5/26/2021 8:39:38 PM)

Just a question about how the rail system/logistic works. Do I have to create depots on level 2+ railyards in order to give SMP to freight or does the lvl 2+ railyards just need to be connected to the entire rail network?

yes, just owning the (repaired) level 2 rail yard generates the 'trains', but then they are usually good spots for depots (unless a long way from the front) as they start with decent processing capacity (even before any HQ placements)

Rosencrantus -> RE: Quick Questions Thread (5/26/2021 10:29:00 PM)

Ok, thanks for the quick response.

Hello everybody,

have seen some strange things with freight supply missions via germans Ju 52.

Im in turn 24, Germans, snow and blizzard are the weather conditions.
I wanted to supply my dugged in front troops with aditional fright via air supply.
I only let them fly to airbases near the front and on my side, some 10 hexes away from russian airbases. Everytime i do this, russian interceptors come over them and hit them badly.

1. Why can they intercept my Ju 52 s, that are staying many miles away from the front. Totally unhistorical and unlogical. Only the germans did „freie Jagd“ on russian side of the front, because of their big advantage at this time.
2. I dont understand, how to get escorts protecting them. I tried everything. Fighters on the target base, fighters all nearby the flight path, on the start base, long range Me 110 in range.
But nearly never a escort shows up. And the russians everytime like 50 fighters...in blizzard!!!

Have i missed something? Help needed.
Or is it a bug?

Rosencrantus -> RE: Quick Questions Thread (5/29/2021 4:07:16 AM)

Will it also be correct to assume that you need to connect the oil and resource production hexes in the Baltics and the Ukraine to the rail network in order to get the additional production?

I had the same problems and a few other people have complained about this as well. Do you have a save that you can pass to the 2by3 guys?

What exactly does "toggle ground support on/off {x}" does and why should I care ?
Thank you.

it really does what it says. If on, bombers in GS directives will be committed, if off those bombers won't.

you have a very finite resource so flipping that button on/off means your bombers are used for the battles you deem to be critical.

if you turn it off at the end of your phase then you get no GS in the enemy turn, this can be useful if you think you are overmatched but equally GS is always good.

The point about GS is the air attacks are first in each battle, disrupted elements don't fight, don't count for win/loss and may well be vulnerable to becoming destroyed or damaged in the actual battle.

read the rules in 18.1.3 for how fighters are allocated to GS battles, its different to the routine for bomber allocation.

1. What is the correct key for checking for Partisans? (ctrl + 1 just gives me order of battle screen)

2. When can I start playing Finland?

Cheers.

you see their effect via the on-map interdiction display. You can see if you are meeting the requirements of the garrison via that Theatre box (being in excess is good as it lowers the effect of partisans)

you can't play Finland directly at the moment, their forces (& the whole Continuation War) are handled using the Theatre Box system

Got it, Thanks for the quick help.

juv95hrn -> RE: Truck Summary in logistics Phase Report is hard to understand: (5/30/2021 4:50:01 PM)

My Black Sea Air HQ, can only do naval mission on Baltic Sea Ports. "Baltic Sea" is grayed out, so I cant choose another body of water. How can I make it perform Naval Missions in the Black Sea instead? Thanks!

EDIT:

By transfering the Army HQ into another Superior HQ, the Black Sea ports opened up as options, why is this?

Also I cant pick German occupied ports, but only friendly ones. Why? Is this WAD?

Thanks again!

EDIT 2:

Why isnt the Black Sea Air Command available to set air directives to? Baltic Air command is, without any air groups attached. But the Black Sea HQ has air groups. How do I give Naval Directives to it?

Orel Air Command is white, has no Air HQ, but is following Orel M.D. Is it not active because Orel M.D is still locked in place?

username01 -> RE: Truck Summary in logistics Phase Report is hard to understand: (5/30/2021 7:34:06 PM)

I can't seem to find any video/sound & windows mode settings? I need to go to windowed mode in order to access my snip & sketch from my taskbar, so as to take a screenshot to show why there are no partisan units showing on my map...thanks again.

Fullscreen or windowed mode is set in the very first line of the 'preference' screen that you can find in the 'admin' tab. (or press {shift-p} )

Why are some of my Soviet Air Commands not coloured the same as their Front attached to? Bug or something I missed?

ok I've taken a fresh game and I can do everything you say I can't

so Black Sea Fleet air, set a manual naval patrol AD;

[image]https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/7153/fgc10Q.jpg[/image]

or use the AI assist, note this includes both Baltic and Black Sea targets (did you scroll down the list?)

[image]https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/2297/Z6Mwl8.jpg[/image]

Orel air command matches Orel MD for colour scheme

[image]https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9222/NlBsHW.jpg[/image]

Baltic air command, target Danzig which is German

[image]https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/4986/LFC5mG.jpg[/image]

Soviet long range air commands start white.

I started my game in an earlier version 1.00. Maybe its due to having upgraded my game.

Yes, I did scroll down the list, and the Black Sea targets arent there, unless I attach the BS HQ to Southern Air command. Its colour wont change though.

Also the 3rd BAK Air corps is coloured pink like Southern Front, instead of white, but that is a confirmed bug from 1.00.

Thanks for checking, seems I have to live with these bugs for now...

EDIT:

I solved it. I didnt have the Orel Air Command HQ and the Baltic Sea Fleet Air HQ on the map. They were in the reserve. I am sure this will fix it, thanks and sorry.

juv95hrn -> RE: Truck Summary in logistics Phase Report is hard to understand: (5/31/2021 6:38:46 PM)

I have 5 Armies in the Soviet Reserves (4,8, 27, 33, 34) that I cant transfer back onto the map. They arrived in the Reserves this turn, are they locked there until next turn? Is this WAD due to reorganizing? How can I see when they are available? Thanks!

you can't redeploy anything the turn it arrives - either in a Theatre or on the map

juv95hrn -> RE: Truck Summary in logistics Phase Report is hard to understand: (5/31/2021 9:43:28 PM)

If I assign an AOG to Ground Support a Front HQ, will the air units support divisions in Armies attached to this Front HQ? Or only divisions attached directly to the Front HQ itself? Thanks!

anything in the chain of command below the allocation level, so yes all armies reporting to a given front.

the one exception is if an army is the target of its own GS AD then it won't also share in the Front allocation (ie the lower level allocation eliminates any higher level allocation)

Rosencrantus -> RE: Truck Summary in logistics Phase Report is hard to understand: (6/1/2021 5:08:47 AM)

What exactly would happen if you were playing a PBEM game but the two players have different game versions installed? How bad would the problems be?

Stephan61 -> RE: Truck Summary in logistics Phase Report is hard to understand: (6/1/2021 10:06:31 AM)

Reference Production.

Currently playing 1941 Campaign as Axis and noticed on the Logistic Reports that a few elements cannot be built due to lack of Oil.
I have priority repair on all captured Oil Factories.

Question: Is there any other way to influence the Production System (namely OIL production) other than.

1: Priority Repair damaged Oil Factories
2: Add Construction Units.
3: Ensure the Rail Network is connected.

Do I need to add a Depot on the Factory City Hex? for example.

well at the worst its cheating, most likely if one player has missed a patch then no big deal, for the most part patches are save tolerant (up and down)

For practical reasons you can ignore this. The production model in WiTE2 is very different and this affects the way the raw inputs interact to produce the useable stuff.

Crudely in WiTE1 arms pts and supply really mattered (esp for the Soviet player), they are now simply inputs. What matters is the (usually) capped production limits for chassis, final items and that also affect most of the generic production too.

this short post will give you some ideas: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4988522

Cheers mate.

So there is little economic benefit from spending the AP to repair the Oil Production Factory (adding extra Oil resource).
