Even if it is something that is affected by the cache, it is only so because something is wrong in the Matrix Games end. What's more, the problem is intermittent and goes away without me taking any action whatsoever, is only limited to these forums (and perhaps the main website too), isn't affected by my internet connection, and so forth. I've also noticed lately that the forums has at all times about 40k visitors, of which 39 900 are "guests". Which I assume are bots for the most part, which might very well be causing the issue. Karri got it right. This is the definition of a 504 from https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Status/504 quote:
504 Gateway Timeout The HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) 504 Gateway Timeout server error response code indicates that the server, while acting as a gateway or proxy, did not get a response in time from the upstream server that it needed in order to complete the request. This problem is NOT my machine (which by the way is a clean linux install using firefox). And, BTW, I have 40 years of IT experience, and have spent way too many hours dealing with these kinds of problems.
