BDukes -> Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/21/2021 9:31:23 PM)

Another great opener. Scored an Average victory.

Pushed the attack button about an hour early as I had a diesel in range of a CGN. I think the sub captain would have done it as the war order was out. That decision paid off as it allowed my final attack to drill Ike enough for the kill. Many tense moments throughout and then a flinch fest once my units started paying the price. Well done! I need to work on coordinating my attacks better. Might have spared a couple of my units.

Two scenarios with Navy Fitters too. Awesome stuff[:D]

Excited for the next one!

Mike

DeHav -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/22/2021 1:19:34 AM)

I quite enjoyed this one, although I didn’t actually have to do much given all the missions. The fight started 10 minutes early when a Viking attacked the Libyan sub - not sure if this was meant to happen but I enjoyed the chaos.

My Fitters didn’t take off even though the mission was active and NATO hostile, not sure why but I had to attack manually. Also, I was poking around in the scenario editor afterwards and noticed there should have been a message for sinking the Eisenhower, but I didn’t get it (it was definitely sunk!)

HalfLifeExpert -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/22/2021 1:31:19 AM)

I'm running my first playthrough of this scenario now. I'm loving the buildup.

I don't play many scenarios from the Soviet perspective, and I really like this tension where:

SPOILERS BELOW

I get orders to attack NATO Forces at 1200Z, and as I'm anxiously waiting, alot of NATO Radars on land start lighting up.

HalfLifeExpert -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/22/2021 2:10:41 AM)

Completed my first playthrough. I enjoyed it.

Hostilities started about an hour early, I think it was my Charlie SSGN firing a SUBROC equivalent at an unidentified Submarine contact (later turned out to be as US SSN).

Probably came from a 'Weapons Free' doctrine for that sub against Goblins. Part of me thinks that should be tweaked so the player has control over commencement of hostilities, but another part of me likes that uncertain possibility of the chaos of war taking over and starting things early.

The instant hostilities started, I paused and manually allocated every weapon within range of USS Eisenhower to the carrier (the Backfires were on the way but nowhere near launch point). The aircraft In Libya hadn't launched yet.

The Nadezhnyy was unfortunately within minimum Styx range, so I had her unload her guns on the Eisenhower. This caused some damaged before the DDG was crippled.

All of the Sub-fired missiles were defeated, but the Backfires succeeded in crippling the carrier, which eventually sank, although I did not get points for Sinking the Eisenhower (This HAS to be a bug, as even crippling a US SuperCarrier is a major success for the Soviets)

The Admiral Makarov groups succeeded in wiping out the Italian carrier group.

BlitzimX -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/22/2021 6:58:04 AM)

I was a bit confused as a non English speaker because the side Briefing for this mission doesn't explicitly states how you are supposed to do your objective; I know you have to sink the taskgroups, but are you suppose to start hostilities by yourself, or do you wait for something? The instruction can be seen both ways.
Didn't help that i didn't get any instruction or anything for a few hours in, so i just went it. Got obliterated of course, but i was still confused on what was the path in this scenario.

cdnice -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/22/2021 2:48:43 PM)

You were supposed to wait. First set of orders has you shadowing and getting in place. Some orders come later on re an attack. Don't want to say too much to ruin it for you. I also got obliterated if it makes you feel any better. :)

Looking forward to another go today. Fun scenarios so far!

gkenny -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/22/2021 3:51:25 PM)

I just played through this mission last night, and noticed a few things:

1. The Backfires launched their strike as planned (although one pair decided to move 50nm past their plotted launch point and ended up running out of fuel on the way home)
2. The fitters did not auto launch despite their mission going active past 11:15. Not sure if intentional.
3. Sinking the IKE gave me no points (but sinking the Italian carrier/surface group did, as well as the other US surface ships), and therefore I didn't have enough points at the end of the scenario to move on to the next one despite nearly completely annihilating the US surface fleet and barely losing any of my own assets.

This might explain my average score despite dropping the heavies.

hellfish6 -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/22/2021 6:18:49 PM)

My kill of the Ike didn't register, so I lost the scenario even with a score of 440 (most losses came after the US and Italians were pretty much done - I lost several aircraft and subs when I was running out the remaining time). Surely that should be enough to move on alone?

Also, to get the Backfires to shoot I had to launch them and set their new homebase to Tripoli. Otherwise they were turning back to Crimea halfway across the Balkans.

Dimitris -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/22/2021 8:18:18 PM)

Here is a copy of this scenario that should fix the scoring issue: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17SpdYf_8UqgH7sMTR50VhTt98d17o4la/view?usp=sharing

Props to Brandon Johnson (Kushan) for the fix!

HalfLifeExpert -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/23/2021 1:05:17 AM)

Success with 2nd attempt using the above file. Successfully sank the Eisenhower with the Backfires, and it immediately gave me a victory.

schweggy -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (10/26/2021 10:12:32 PM)

Comrades... let us rejoice in the confusion of our enemy. While they run in circles we shall destroy them.

Really.

It was that easy. Close with the subs, launch the Backfires and have at it.

Has this fix been rolled out to the Steam version, or does it still need to be applied manually?

Gunner98 -> RE: Red Tide Scenario 2 Feedback (12/11/2021 2:59:29 PM)

Great scenario,

Major victory, sank both carriers, the rest of the Italian TG, USS Savannah, the two Cruisers and a couple escorts. At 855 points I got a Major victory but just missed on a Triumph. USS Butte was 54% damaged, on fire & flooding, the Spruence was 37% damaged with severe fires and the Elmer Montgomery was slightly damaged - so even if both of the heavily damaged ships sink I miss by 5 points!

An air attack on the KUG sank a Krivak and damaged the Sov (87% flood & fire) - that cost me the Triumph I'm sure...

Really good fun - need to work out how to keep more of the Su-17s alive. Subs did great until they died

On to STANAVFORLANT
