This has been bugging me a whole.

What is the difference between a railyard and a depot?

28.1
Though not directly part of the production system, ports and railyards are treated as factories that generate a certain amount of
transportation capacity (25.4.1 and 25.6.1

Where are they on the map? [&:]

How do you expand them (level 2 at least)?

Non related but...

Can you transfer air groups to NON supplied areas (nearer the front line) and still have them work as "per normal"
until the logistics phase reduces supply. OR Is it immediate?

Thus, how do people get bang for the buck by transferring air units to where the action is? [&:], (that is without having already established a
functioning/supplied airbase )..

Thank you,

25.7.8

. This means a brand new depot created at a 0 railyard location will only be improved slightly till the railyard is built and starts repairing

Where is this "railyard " location??

When a supply depot is created in a hex without a railyard, a level 1 railyard is created, but it starts at 100% damage and has to be repaired. You need to build it up before your guys can start unloading a lot of supply from the railyways.

You can see railyards on the map by pressing "Toggle Factory Locations".
Someone also made this cool map which shows every important Railyard in the USSR (some are clusters, it only goes up to level 9 in one hex): https://i.imgur.com/gEbTP1p.jpg

Level 1 railyards only help with unloading supplies. They are receivers (and relays, I think?), they don't add capacity to the network. Higher level railyards are where all of your trains and such come from, but new levels above 1 cannot be built during the game. This makes the pre-existing 2+ railyards critical strategic objectives for moving east or west. So if the Soviets recaptured Smolensk, it would help pull supply down from Moscow, for example.

You men the PINK hexes in the map above are RAILYARDS?

The only map icon with characteristics similar is the green rail ICON.

So, these are the railyards ??

Lastly, how do you add pics to a forum post ? I have not used it before.
